We think it's solved

After some sleepless nights and tons of work by our administrator Darrel and the outside IT expert, we think that TOTV is stable now. The tremendous increase in membership and daily traffic caused some internal problems with the server. I don't know exactly what they did, but we have been told that it's fixed until sometime off in the distant future when the next huge influx of new members causes an overload. Then we have to add another server, some more memory and some other stuff that I didn't understand.:Screen_of_Death:

Always scary to have to turn things over to an expert who waves that magic wand to make things better. Seems as though it worked in this case!!! Congrats and thanks again for all the effort!

And here we all thought Tony fixed everything................. :1rotfl:

I hope so too. Great job. :BigApplause:

Every system needs to be upgraded at some point in time.

Great Job TOTV Staff!

Atta boy! I for one, really appreciate all that you do to keep us online!

rubicon 03-09-2011 04:16 PM

We think we solved it

Wheww! I grew up Catholic and with all that guilt thought I caused the crash.

jojo 03-09-2011 06:23 PM

Admins, we do appreciate all you do. The most recent posts that appear at the bottom of the thread has disappeared. Is that my problem or a general problem?

Glad to have TOTV back.

I was wondering about that too -- Admins, please bring them back if possible!

Talk Host 03-09-2011 08:06 PM

I miss them too, but you can find them at the bottom of the page in the "Top 10" stats. Exactly the same thing, just a different look. We eliminated the other style to save some bandwith. They are also available at the top in the blue bar under "new Posts."

THANK YOU for all the work in getting us back up and running!

I return and things begin working well.

Concidence? I don't think so.

But..... er... um... how did you get out of the room with no doors, tony?

So you took the same route as the WI Dems, huh?

tony 03-09-2011 10:46 PM

O.K, not don't tell anybody.

There is a hallway next to my room. The trick is to get into the hallway, and I have a secret way to get in.

I start to walk around the perimeter of my room, faster, and faster. Then I trot. Then run. Pretty soon I am all in.

They I rest a few minutes and just walk down that hall.

Ohhh, I would never tell. Just wondering if, in your subliminal state, they put the tight-fitting jacket with extra long sleeves on you before or after you enter this doorless room?

Peace

Hey Tony - I think it's time to get back on your meds, my friend!! :1rotfl:

Maybe I am misunderstanding missing post answer.

If I click "New Posts", I see a thread "Golf Course Conditions". I see that waynenet has made a post to that thread. I click on that thread and waynenet's post is not there.

Is that something I am doing wrong?

ajbrown 03-10-2011 08:44 AM

This is a post just so I can see previous post

I wonder of I post again if I will see my previous post now... just a test

You are right Chuck. It won't show new posts and ...some other stuff.

Sorry, administrators. Needs fixing again.:grumpy:

skyguy79 03-10-2011 11:26 AM

Just noting for admins (if it's any help) that it's working fine here. Using Windows 7 OS.

villages07 03-10-2011 11:54 AM

Me too, Skyguy.

Had to log in once on both my desktop and iPad after changes were first installed. Haven't had to log back in and all searches work normally.

I usually click on "New Posts" and then hit the back button when done perusing the thread to get back to the same 'new post' list....no new search is required so the 20-30 second time constraint doesn't kick in. Eventually click on 'new posts' again to refresh the list.

Ipad with Safari or Atomic Web Browser

Dell Desktop, windows XP, Internet Explorer vers 8

Bill-n-Brillo 03-10-2011 12:32 PM

I'm experiencing the "missing posts" thing as well as other issues mentioned. Seems that reloading the current page makes the missing posts magically appear - - - at least that's how it's working for me so far!

Bill

ajbrown 03-10-2011 12:53 PM

FWIW, I am not experiencing the missing post anymore.
