I do think the difference is that Obama made an honest mistake whereas Bachman proves her lack of basic knowledge almost everytime she opens her mouth. Her lack of knowledge for someone who may have Presidential ambitions is scary.

How lame. It's always just an honest mistake when a Democrat says something dumb. Hypocrisy on display.

Can you please provide one example of a ridiculous statement that Palin has said? And "I can see Russia from my house" doesn't count; that was actually said by Tina Fey in a SNL Palin parody.

Forget The Number Of States Comment...
 

...the woman is looney tunes. What's disturbing is that she has one of 435 votes in the House that governs this country. By the way, there are more like her, both in the GOP as well as on the Democrat side of the aisle. Maxine Waters and Barney Frank come to mind, but I'm sure given a few minutes I could think of others. What's even more scary is that just by getting re-elected a few times, folks like this actually are elevated to positions of leadership in our Congress, based mostly on seniority.

Congresswoman Bachmann is an excellent example of how someone like her can have extraordinary influence on our lives. She's lived her life as a conservative religious activist. Politically, she had only five years experience as a Minnesota State Senator before being elected to the U.S. House in 2006. She had actually been elevated to a leadership position in the Minnesota Senate for a few months before the Republican leader fired her for "philosophical differences". Now, in her third term in the U.S. House, she's navigated herself to be the head of a major caucus of Representatives. Is she the type of person you want having a significant influence over the governance of our country? Just listen to her statements. Try to figure out her thought process.

What's scary is that people like this can actually have a significant impact on how our lives are lived. I guess the best we can hope is that there are an equal number of goofballs in both parties to offset one another so the rest of the House can do the people's business. But it does make you wonder how in the world tens of thousands of people elected folks like this, doesn't it?

You know what? I don't care if Bachman got a couple of facts about history wrong. A lot of people including the current President and even myself do so also. What's important is that she's expanded the dialogue in the political area; contributing to a movement which is demanding governmental accountability for the economic mess it's put us in and is in the forefront of the attempt to take governmental control away from the socialist leaning leftists who disrespect the idea of American excellence. You won't hear Michelle Bachman apologizing for America's greatness.

Oh yeah, Michelle Bachmann adds to the discussion on economics by making comments like this:

Liberals just love to hate Republican women. I could undoubtably find dozens of stupid comments by liberals, besides the few already posted in this thread; but the fact is I don't care to. I'm not unnerved by the left in the same way the left is terrified of the rise and influence of the conservative woman.

It will be very interesting to see if the liberals strategy of political ridicule, the only tactic left to them as they cannot afford to run on the issues, will have their desired effect.

I say "fine"; Liberals run on ridicule, Conservatives will run on issues and we'll see which strategy resonates with the American public.

Good for you Richielion I happen to agree. I moved down from MN and if you want to meet some loonies talk to some of those DFL'ers that is the Democrat/ Farmers Federation which was combined under Hubert H. In fact take a look at Al Franken who by the way literally stole the election. there still finding votes stuffed in strange places all through MN or for that matter Jesse Ventura.

I personally like Bachman. Her family has some prominence in MN and have been good corporate and personal citizens. I like that she has called out Obama and in all those isues was right including the $100 million plus hidden in the ObamaCare bill.

I don't care if Bachman or Palin say they can see Russia from here. Because I do appreciate that they have the sense to know that Russia is still the enemy and as such would not sign a disarmament agreement that greatly favors Russia. You all probably read Victor Hanson's account of Obama's foreign policy blunders and he was being kind. The only mystery for me is if Obama's actions are intentional or unintentional (i.e. simply way over his head) I like these fighting felines they may get some of those complacent timid lacking intestinal fortitude male counter parts to stand up on their hind legs and do what is best for this country :BigApplause:

The left is so shaken by the rise of the conservative conscience of the American people, and that their redistributionist and economy killing agenda is being dismantled piece by piece, that they've been forced to get violent in their speech and their ridicule as evidenced by the massive organized protests around the country.

Michelle Bachman experienced an episode in New Hampshire when an organization of liberal activists attempted to take over her speaking event. People there to hear her protected her and ushered the activists out of the room. This doesn't happen when Liberals speak. Why? Maybe because, unlike liberals, we're not afraid of your words getting out. We relish it.

I'm a woman, and the only thing I dislike (hate is such a strong word, don't you think?), is stupid women! I take great pride in my gender and am dissappointed beyond belief when people like Bachmann and Palin achieve "stardom" by saying dumb things repeatedly. Heck, the libertarians wanted ME to run in some local elections here in NH but because I received stolen merchandise (I didn't know it was stolen & I returned it), I can't run. It doesn't matter that the record has been discharged. It's all anyone would hear on the news. Doesn't matter that I've since gotten a full security clearance, from the government.. ...twice.

The process seems to ensure that nobody qualified would be able to survive the process.

Graciegirl I don't know how to carry your last post to my post but you made a lot of sense. Why aren't we getting the best of a good lot for political candidates. Where have all the truly good people gone? Why have true patroits been replaced by opportunist? Who has failed us, or have we failed ourselves? Is our political system that contaminated that all we can retain are the marginal ones at best? Will the Tea party movement benefit our political system by creating the needed impetus to reclaim our desire for freedom and individual expression which was once our greatest legacy? Must we continue to tolerate pols whom appear to exhibit a "I got mine the hell with you attitude?" Where are the great statesman and orators? Why can't we find a candidate who will inspire us by action and deed? I don't have to agree with all of their policies but I do require honesty, integrity, intestinal fortitude, a love for country and a moral imperative that will stand above all nations. God hear my prayer.
