Read this article and thought it a fitting piece to link to on this awesomely beautiful Mother's Day.

It's very irreverent and may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I laughed reading it, and that was good enough for me.

Read three paragraphs and quit. You may call it irreverent....I call it moronic.

Even though I believe American Thinker is a waste of electrons, I did read it. I actually enjoyed it. No, Richie has not brought me over to the Dark Side! In a kind of funny way, the article did point out how childish our elected leaders in Washington are acting at many times when there is important work left undone.

The article could have been about Obama (which it was), Nancy Pelosi, John Boehner, or (in the past) Newt Gingrich.

Anyone who has raised a teenager can relate to this satire.

VK, If you didn't see some truth mixed with some humor, it's only showing your prejudice, in my opinion. You've probably laughed at "humor hit pieces" on, let's say, Sarah Palin and had no problem with it, I'm guessing.

I found the whole Palin thing a sad commentary on American politics. And an even sadder indictment of John McCain, who until he so obviously caved to those on the extreme far right of the party by choosing Palin, probably would've gotten my vote. No, Sarah Palin is little more than a caricature...and I don't particularly care for that art form.

By the way, with all that is happening in our country and the world...the fiscal crisis, the killing of bin Laden, the apparent inaccuracy of us thinking that Pakistan was an allie, the stalemate in Afghanistan...where is John McCain anyway? I thought he was supposed to be an elder statesman, a political leader of our country. It's as if he's disappeared into the Arizona outback for all the leadership and counsel he's providing his colleagues in the Congress and the country. His abandonment of the pulpit his experience and reputation might have provided him, letting the likes of Bachmann, Beck and Trump speak for the conservative cause is more than disappointing.

Why would McPain be speaking for the Conservative cause?

Bingo!!!; anyone who thinks McCain ever spoke for the Conservatives doesn't know what he's talking about in my opinion.

McCain is not and never was a Conservative.

I also have little respect for those who follow the liberal media mantra of diminishing the message of Sarah Palin; a woman they desperately fear. If you can't see why millions of people are attracted to this woman, you have no ears to hear and no will to understand.

I also agree and find Bugs candor refreshing. But I didn't want to comment first because Bugs and I have been understanding each other a little to much lately and it's going to throw the terminally partisan off if I comment too soon.

Richie: I'm not being sarcastic. What do *you* believe the 'message of Sarah Palin' is?

The message she gives *me* is one of ill-informed sloganeering from a person who couldn't finish a term governing the easiest state in the nation. I mean, berating Obama for not showing the pictures of bin Laden and saying that it's part of seeing the mission through to the end (to demonstrate we weren't "pussy footing" around, if I remember the actual quote correctly) was another example of her "do as I say, not as I do" character.

This has got to be your silliest post. Ms. Palin speaks before huge crowds of people frequently. That's what I'm talking about; about what she says that gets the crowd jumping. This lady can move a crowd, that gathers in numbers to see her that few others can. I've always put your posts above the non-thinking libs who frequently post, but you're slipping.

On the bright side, your post completely illustrates my point above about selective outrage. Thanks for that.

The reason they fear her is the thought that she just might still have Presidential asperations and then we all would have something to fear if she had to face the problems in the World and at home.

Yeah I know, because the present resident of the WH is doing such a bang up job in world affairs. We're in a so much better position in the world since his election.

I have posted many things about Caribou .. er.. I mean Sarah Palin on this forum. I do have to agree that all she does is to state and restate phrases that provide a good sound bite such as, "only dead fish go with the flow", "pitbulls don't wear lipstick", and crap like that.

Palin offers NO substance at all. It is all just political puffery. She does not take questions from the audiences; she does not take questions from the press; she will not got on television except for FOX - everything has to be scripted for her puffery sound bites.

Also, as I have said on here many times, Palin has great business handlers and agents. She has taken a position as governor of Alaska (total population of less than greater Orlando) with a salary of about $150,000, quit mid-term, and parlayed that into ghost-written books to sell to reactionary dupes and speaking fees of up to $100,000 for more reactionary dupes to hear those puffery soundbites.

Now, Richie and BKCunningham, I would bet you are NOT going to agree with this posting of mine. Hope you are having a good day in The Villages. Be sure to play by those new Federal golfing rules.

Only wanted to prove my point on what constitutes "funny", and I picked a person much admired by many but loathed by Obama sycophants on purpose to prove my point. As I expected and would have bet on, I wasn't disappointed. High five, anyone?

Just have to finish getting my new windows in so I can get the maximum federal and state rebates for energy efficiency. Then return I'll to the green, pun intended. I've had to cut down to golfing only three times a week since we've been doing the entitlement/redistribution improvements to the new house. C'est la vie.

Umm.. Help me out here. I asked what message she gives to you and all you could say was that she can get a crowd going? You made my point - sloganeering was the word I used.

...and feel free to substitute someone else for Romney. I picked him because, in my *subjective* opinion, he's more qualified, more dignified and more intelligent. Also, having worked in Massachusetts while he was governor and living the last 37 years just across the border in New Hampshire, I know more about him than other candidates.

BUT - he'll never get a crowd whipped up like Sarah Palin talking about "mamma grizzlies", I'll give you that. She CAN be more charismatic more often.

I don't think I'm going to allow myself to be baited into another "Palin Bash", even if I brought her up to illustrate that if you change the target, bias shows. I can defend her, and if you wish, you could find the same columns, interviews and speeches I would.

Awesome Hancie. I have to say I've never heard Ms. Palin espouse contempt and ridicule like this toward her fellow Americans as Mr. Obama does in one of these clips. I'd love to hear from certain people on this forum if they have the nerve to try to defend their parties hypocritical rhetoric on the price of gas.

It's not 'bashing' Sarah Palin. Heck, when McCain picked her, I thought it was brilliant - for about 24 hours.

I don't have to go the route of most 'bashers' who pick on the sound bites, the writing on her hands, the "deer caught in the headlights" look and the other flubs. That's too easy and, more importantly, doesn't have ANY substance. Smart people can look dumb at times.

No, I prefer to keep it on the issues. She's supposed to be so accomplished but she was the mayor of a town where that is almost a do-nothing job - and that's coming straight from the mouth of the woman who was holding the post when interviewed last year. Wasilla depends on the state for most of it's services and when asked what city employees do, she responded that they show up on Tuesdays for their checks. (I know she was kidding but that was a bad joke to tell given the circumstances)

She's lauded as a governor, but there are 49 other governors out there who have harder jobs than hers. Oil revenues mean that every resident gets a check every year. She's had no budget struggles, no hard decisions to make. Being governor of Alaska is being in charge of a honeypot and deciding who gets the honey.

...and one other thing about those other 49 governors? They stayed at their post. They didn't quit to go on speaking tours.

Think about that. She said she wasn't quitting, though that's what she did, in the middle of her "I quit" speech. She said she had more important things to do. This consists of a reality show and speaking tours? Oh, it's more *profitable*, I grant you that.

Again, it's the SUBSTANCE she doesn't have. And saying that I'm "just a Palin basher" means you're turning a blind eye to her *real* and substantive weaknesses.

Why pick on her? Because if SHE becomes the standard bearer for the GOP next year, they WILL lose. She is NOT qualified. Every single "unqualified" remark you can make about Obama you can make about her - except now Obama has on-the-job experience (as scary as that can sound). And let's face it, he got The Bad Guy.

The GOP *has* to come up with someone better, someone who can handle being interviewed by 'hostile' interviewers. Someone who has experience dealing with a legislature that is hostile towards them. (Think about it - Romney.. A *Massachusetts* Republican)

It turns my stomach to see what the GOP is turning into. My voting record used to be almost exclusively Republican (and 3rd party later on) dating back to my first election when I voted for Reagan in '80.
