Brownswood update?
Does anybody have any news about the new town square at Brownswood? We have a lot in St. James and are hoping to start building early next year. Will the new square be open then? :wave:

No real building, but some stakes and a few piles of dirt have appeared in the last couple of weeks.
:lipsrsealed::lipsrsealed: |
The name is Brownwood and is referred to in the developer's marketing material as Brownwood Paddock Square.

Construction
No real progress - a long way from reality.
|
Ther are now supplies of the pipes for sewer, irrigation, and fresh water, sitting on adjacent property. That should be the signal for the beginning of the rough in process.

What are they waiting for?

:confused:Where exactly will Brownwood be built? I have heard through the grapevine that it's pretty close to Wildwood, is that correct?
|
My understanding that it is south of 466A at the end of Buena Vista.

Yes,the name is Brownwood, but, only the entertainment area in the center of Brownwood is called Paddock Square. Just like in Lake Sumter Landing, the entertainment area is called Market Square.

Given that Sanibel will be the farthest village from Brownwood, and will probably be equidistant from Lake Sumter, it makes sense in that people will be still be able to get to a town square just as easy, while the residential portion continues to grow.
We just can't wait to get there! Hope to see you all soon! :wave: |

I sure hope the powers to be understand what is most likely going to happen having Brownwood in the location close to Wildwood!

IMHO the concern about how close Brownwood is to Wildwood is more than it should be. I did a bit of looking at both the Wildwood area and the Fruitland Park area using Google satellite view and here is what I've found.
The residential area of Wildwood is not as big as I would have pictured it. The residential area of Fruitland Park is considerably larger. The distance Brownwood to the nearest residential area and school in Wildwood is about a 35 minute walk. I would imagine that someone with mischief on their minds would more than likely use a motor vehicle to get there and they could just as easily been doing that to the other squares. Also the distance I mentioned to Wildwood is about the same as it is from my home in Hadley, or Colony Plaza to the residential area of Fruitland Park, and I feel perfectly safe with that much distance. Now I know that the crime rate in Wildwood is higher than in Fruitland Park, but despite that I still think that there is more concern about safety at Brownwood than necessary! |
