Which Urgent Care do you use?

Do they take care or your needs or just send you to the ER or tell you to see your doctor on Monday?
I've been twice in 3 days and mine was not equipped...what a waste of time and money. I'm so disappointed in the medical care here.

Several weeks ago, my wife had to go to UC at LSL. The staff there seemed to be very professional and knowledgeable. We were very satisfied with the care she received there. If you don't mind telling, which UC did you go to?

zcaveman 07-06-2011 07:14 AM

I went to the UC in Summerfield across from Wal-Mart on 27/441 and I thought that they did a good job. I would go there again if I had a problem that warranted it.

JenAjd 07-06-2011 07:32 AM

We've used (I think it's) Premier or Paramount (I know it begins with a "P" on 466 over in the strip across where there is all that new construction going on. We've had good results with them. IF you're having a heart attack or some such thing I think they'd stabilize you and call 911 since the hospital would best be able to serve you. BUT if you're having a sinus infection or anything you'd see a doctor for in a clinic they'd be able to assist you.

Urgent Care

We have always used the UC at Lake Sumter, (near Sweatbay). They have only Dr's and they have been terrific. Have been to them for a few problems and in each case you could not beat them. Would never consider anywhere else. :BigApplause:

glwcww 07-06-2011 04:20 PM

In March I had to go to the Urgent Care at Lake Sumter....had to wait a bit but was very satisfied with the staff and the prescribing doc. I'd definitely go there again if needed.

jojo 07-06-2011 04:40 PM

I've had excellent care at the Lake Sumter Urgent Care. They were equipped to do a minor dermatology surgery. There are several doctors there. They have their own x-ray equipment. One doctor called in another for a consult after I left and they called me at home to say that they wanted to add to the treatment they had suggested.

Take it from a nurse who works at a large (75K patients) medical/urgent care center: AP's and NP's stack up very well to DR's when it comes to urgent care. (Don't tell my docs but I prefer two or three of our AP's to them:))

Lruc

We have used LRUC long before they opened their office at Lake Sumter Landing. Their other office is on Rt. 441, near the airport in Leesburg. The service has always been outstanding and very professional. Even when there were other urgent care centers opening here in The Villages and surrounding areas we drove the extra miles to Leesburg, knowing we would leave the office with a diagnosis and a treatment plan. The business is owned by a married couple who are both "crackerjack" doctors.

The medical care here may not be up to the standards of whatever area you moved from but I can tell you it is vastly improved from what it was when I moved here 13 years ago! It was not at all unusual to travel to Leesburg or Ocala for medical care, due to a lack of doctors here. There was no hospital and no urgent care centers that I can recall. I think the best thing that you can do is to visit these forums and ask questions about our experiences with various medical professionals and facilities. It hasn't been easy finding good doctors. I can't help but wonder if I might have had the same problem moving to almost any new location that was not in a big metropolitan area?

Very pleased with Paramount Urgent Care on Rte 466 East on Morse Blvd. Open 7 days/week 8 am to 8 pm.

ssmith 07-06-2011 09:54 PM

now if you are having a....

heart attack....call 911/ EMS immediately, don't go to Urgent Care, every minute is crucial. I am assuming the original poster intended that they would stabilize you for a heart attack in the case that you were not aware that was your issue.

PennBF 07-07-2011 06:53 AM

Dr's Only

As I understand it at the Lake Sumter Urgent Care you will be seen by a Dr and not a Physician Assistant, etc. As it was stated when you go to an Urgent Care you want to see a Dr. :BigApplause:

As SSmith says Urgent Care doesn't mean Emergency Care for critical symptoms.

As I mentioned don't dismiss AP's and NP's for urgent care.

Me too. Had a bit of a scare a couple of weeks ago. The problem occurred in the evening. Called a couple of UC's only to find them closed. The one opposite Walmart 27/441 was open until midnight. Professional and thorough. Diagnosis made, prescription provided and I was on my way. Problem corrected.

I am not recommending them. I got in big trouble making a recommendation once. I am just saying I had a good experience and would not hesitate to go back.

JenAjd 07-07-2011 01:06 PM

Was re-reading here and remembered that it was Paramount on 466. I've been there for a sinus infection and later a flu and was treated well for that. Had a drug reaction most recently and also was see both by the NP and doctor and stablized before being sent home. That same week still had another issue they thought might be better handled by the ER so was sent by ambulance due to that. They will handle NON-critical issues "in house"...as someone else stated "IF" there is a question such as a heart issue you should call 911 for sure. I've also heard very good things about LS UC and would use them if needed too since we live in the southern villages.

The 441 urgent care center in Summerfield is excellent.Adam the PA was more efficient than many physicians I've been to over the years.

Another vote for Paramount Urgent Care on CR 466. I use them for monthly allergy shots. They sometimes have only a paramedic available. For anything urgent, I would think that it would be critical to go directly to the Emergency Department at the Hospital.

need to correct my directions as it's misleading and NOT "on" Morse....

On Rte 466 East just beyond Morse Blvd if heading East on Morse and is on the left side of the road and at the very end of the building.

UC Open until Midnight

Had to get to an urgent care center but at 10:30 PM the only one open until 12 midnight was urgent care in Spruce Creek. They were very professional and had me out of there in about 40 minutes. I don't know of any other UC that is open that late. If I needed care, I would certainly use them again.

gego3650 06-17-2014 07:41 PM

Dr.Im in Dana Plaza. Great service and a man who really knows the job.

SusanOfWoodbury 06-17-2014 08:48 PM

I use the urgent care on Santa Barbara Blvd...They are open 7 days a week I have never waited more than 30 minutes. They have always helped me.....

raynan 06-17-2014 09:16 PM

Another vote for Paramount in the Santa Fe Crossing plaza on 466. I fell and leg started to really swell, went there and immediately was x-rayed and wrapped. I had a fractured fibula. They notified Tri-County orthopedists and gave me the disc with my x-rays on it and Tri-County called me at home and made follow-up appointment. I would definitely use Paramount again.

GoldenHurricane 06-17-2014 09:29 PM

On Saturday I had to go to an urgent care facility. There are two urgent care facilities at Lake Sumter Landing, 411 and Lake Regional urgent care. I called both before hand to see who was on duty. 411 had a PA seeing patients while LRUC had an M.D. I chose the latter and was really pleased with the professional treatment I received at LRUC. My neighbor had used LRUC in the past and was pleased with them as well. I had less than a 30 minute wait time before I saw the doctor. I highly recommend LRUC, 910 Old Camp Road #114, (352) 259-4322. They are open seven days a week, closing at 7 PM weekdays and 5 PM Saturday and Sunday.

I must have seen him at a bad moment, because that was not my experience and would N E V E R go back there unless it was the last place standing!

Carla B 06-18-2014 10:00 AM

Some days it doesn't pay to go the Urgent Care...I went to urgent care on a Saturday morning recently with redness and painful swelling in my wrist. Received a script for pain med and instruction to consult a hand surgeon. By that evening red streaks were shooting up my arm so ended up in the ER anyway, where the correct diagnosis of cellulitis was made and an IV with antibiotics started.

Bonny 06-18-2014 10:15 AM

I use Lake Regional Urgent Care in Sumter or Paramount on 466 at Santa Fe. I have had excellent care at both places.

sbondar 06-23-2014 12:14 PM

It depends what you go in for. I have nothing but good reports about Paramount urgent care. Took care of bronchitis and urinary infections...

PennBF 06-23-2014 02:18 PM

Great

We have been going to LRUC for years and they are absolutely GREAT. I was misdiagnosed by two Urgent Care's for skin cancer when I was out of town. Went to LRUC when we returned and was not only diagnosed right but the DR. took it off, sent it for testing, it came back positive and they sent me to Dr. Tran for treament. You always see a Dr. at LRUC and they are excellent at what they do. I only hope they don't get overloaded.
