court yard villa--info
I'm still a wannabe waiting for my house to sell, But I'm looking at the photo's of court yard villas and on a couple they mention i car garage and golf car garage, yet on the photods i only see a one car garage, Am I missing something? Thank You
|
It is just one garage door with space inside for one car and a golf cart. And those I have seen, granted only a few, it would need to be a small to mid size car to also fit a golf cart. I am sure some one has an Armada and a Tomberlin and will tell you they both fit fine, but those I saw looked tight. I did see one new one that looked a little larger so you will need to check them out. But all only have the single door.
|
We rented a Cabana last year, our Buick LeSabre and golf cart fit, but was tight. We closed last month on CYV. We have since bought a Hyundai Sonata and feel our garage will accomodate both car and cart. But I'm gonna make him do the parking. Not blaming me for dinging up the new car or cart.

Thanks for explaining to me about the cart garage in the cyv.---Now
what happens if the cyv has a 1 car garage where do you put the cart? |

now we are in trouble
Wow, so what do you do if you have 2 carts and 2 cars. Also does 2 carts and 1 minivan fit in most of the garges...say an Anna Maria?
|
Most people on our street have sold their 2nd cars. Found they were not necessary and why carry the insurance.

Two carts and a minivan: This should work in an Anna Maria model's garage.....if the actual build dimensions for the garage are true to the floor plan and you park the carts one behind the other. http://www.thevillages.com/homes/new...namaria-FP.pdf Bill :) |
We keep our Honda Fit (small car) and 2 golf carts (parked tandem style - one is a 4 seater) in our garage. We have a Bonita/Foxglove. I don't think 2 carts will fit in a Cumberland/Grantham. Not sure about the other models.
We have a Honda Accord in Ohio but in the past I have been able to park it in the garage with one golf cart - haven't had it in down there since we got the 2nd golf cart, but think it would fit if the 4 seater was in front of the 2 seater. It is tighter. With the Fit, doesn't matter which cart is in front, although it's probably easier with the 4 seater in front. Many of our neighbors have large SUVs and park them in the driveway, but I think that is because it is just a tight fit, with the curved driveway. |
CYV's have many great features but garage space isn't one of them. If this is a big concern you might want to look into Cottage style homes that have many of the features but can accomadate a larger garage. But then again Cottage homes have no fence etc. Choices, Choices.

that's what I thought but
just wanted to ask....I agee Russ Boston...choices and what is more important!

There is one in Orland Park and I can't see how they would be able to take it out in the snow! I giggle at the thought of it spinning like a cartoon.... However for TV I could see how it would work quite nicely. I think we got a picture of the Smartcar parked side by side with the carts when we were there!!! I amuse easily....:D |

the garage in a CYV is 1-1/2 cars, it'll fit a reasonable car and a golf cart.
it's about 14-15' wide. Not the best option if you need a lot of storage, but enough if you don't pile up too much. |
when last we were down we had our kia optimia and our golf cart in the cyv garage with no problem...its a midsize and left little room about 3 feet in front of the car about enough for the two bikes
|
some CYV garages are extra deep
I haven't measured, but probably the specs are listed somewhere. We have all kinds of stuff in the garage in front of the car - 3 bikes, a lawnmower, an extra vacuum cleaner, etc) and if we didn't have 2 golf carts, could also fit lots more (besides a work bench) in front of a golf cart on the other side.
But - it's true that it is a little tough to park a large car beside the 2 golf carts (but it can be done if you are careful). It's more the curved driveway than the size of the garage - a little tricky. |
To Ohio Girl
What model of CYV do you have...I would guess not a Grantham for sure?
|
Bonita/Foxglove. Grantham/Cumberland has a smaller garage
|
We have a CYV and are able to get a Honda Accord, Harley FAT Boy, and our goft cart in the garage and still have plenty of room.

Ha... we moved down here with our Toyota Tundra and Subaru Outback. We're temporarily renting a CYV until we can move into our new home. We tried putting the Tundra in the CYV's garage and it barely squeezed in but there would be absolutely no room for anything else in there. We have been parking the Subaru in there just fine with our two bicycles, but that's about all that would fit. We'll be selling the Subaru and/or the truck. Soon!

patio villas with 2 car garages??
Are there any patio villas with 2 garages that were built after 2000?
If so, are there any for sale at the present time? |
dont think so
I have never seen a patio villa with a 2 car garage. But - the driveways are straight in (unlike most CYVs), making it easier to get your vehicle in the garage with a golf cart. The CYVs I have seen that have 2 car garages DO have straight-in driveways, but I don't think they will fit 2 cars AND a golf cart, just roomier with 1 car and 1 golf cart (or 2). Someone will correct if this is wrong.
I think some of the "cottages" (used to be ranches) have same or very similar floor plans to some patio villas, but do have 2 car garages, and some have 2 car garages plus a golf cart garage. There are cottage floor plans with 2 and 3 bedrooms. Patio villas (to my knowledge, anyway) are one or two bedrooms - not sure if they are even building new patio villas with only 1 bedroom, though. |

In addition, some models have the laundry located in the garage, and that location can vary as well. Almost all CYV's have a short, curved driveway. Depending on which side of the street you are on, the curve is either to the left or right. Typically, you can park one car on the drive if you like, but two won't fit. There will be very limited guest parking within your neighborhood compound, but we aren't allowed to claim and use it personally as additional garage space, and permanent on the street parking is not allowed.(It is a hazard) Most everyone will offer suggestions on how they make the garage space work for them. I won't go through all that, except to say that things fit better than we thought they would. What DID help before we even bought in TV, was to tape off the CYV garage measurements inside our existing garage up north.(From the model that we liked the best.) Having that visual helped us, not only to decide what we could function with as to vehicles, but also realize quickly what "stuff" HAD to be eliminated, and not dragged along. Basically, helped to let us wrap our heads around the whole garage concept and gave us time to think. In the end, we chose a CYV because we really WANTED to downsize, live a simpler lifestyle, and have uncluttered surroundings. That's not heaven to everyone, but has been liberating to us. I found that we have adapted painlessly, and so far we don't miss anything we let go of. That said, my hubby still has a motorcycle, air compressor, big ladder and tools.... just not thousands of them. We house the car and golf car too. (but our laundry is INSIDE.) It really was great to eliminate BEFORE we moved. If you come down on a lifestyle visit, you'll know SO much, that your choice will be easy. Listen to your gut. You'll make the choices perfect for you. (and I just realized this topic is not a brand new post.... sorry!) |

I think you might be incorrect about parking 2 cars in the driveway, though. I believe we've had 2 cars park in our driveway, just wouldn't want to do it all the time, impossible to get the golf carts out. |
We have a Woodlawn which is now called a Durham. I had to trade my Hyundai Santa Fe for a Mazda 3 Hatchback. With
my Yamaha golf cart there is barely enough room for me to get into the car to back out of the garage. Very little space in a Woodlawn, having the washer and dryer in the garage doesn't help. |

There are some CYVs with two-car garages but they are rare. We couldn't find one on a golf course with water view. CYVs are great and many people wish they had larger garages. |
CYV garages
Will the Courtyard Villas fit a Buick Regal and a golf cart? Thanks! We will be moving there and are not sure if our car will fit in with a golf cart.

I have the Bonita model with inside laundry,
my big Toyota 4Runner fits in the garage and a Tomerlin golf cart. I still have walking space between the two. IF, if, the a/c was not on the inside
wall I could have fit two golf carts and the 4 Runner. However, there is a post installed so the golf cart won't go forward hitting the a/c. Had the a/c been on the back wall easy peasy for 2 golf carts and the 'truck'. I still must have six or 8 feet in front of the 4Runner where I have boxes, tools, lawn equipment. Seems very large, BUT I still have to do some cautious driving when getting the cart out with the car parked inside. Good luck. Wouldn't trade my 3/2 Bonita for anything, it has worked well for everything I brought with me to TV. If I put in attic stairs I will have lots more room in the garage, but so far it's all good. |
