Has anyone building now....
Those of you building now... Are any of you working with T & D from the start so everything can be done when you move in.
If you look at the video regarding the new models they mention you can meet with T & D about putting in pools and spas while they are building the house. I would like to have them put in our birdcage and the cement before we move in as it seems "stupid" to put it all in and then have to remove the sprinklers, sod, etc to put in the Birdcage. Or.... am I missing something???? |

Where and what model are you building? Linda |
We will be down in December to start construction on our Begonia in Sanibel. We want a birdcage put in the back and a doggie door. Both we have heard T & D will do. I read somewhere on here that if we don't take the cement all the way out, we can put some sort of mulch out there providing a spot for our dogs to go.
I would like this all done from the get go if we can. I just don't know if they will work with us if we aren't putting in a pool. |

Thanks!
I was going to send a note to my sales rep. I wanted to know from the people who have used them and how it was working for them. |

If you get a pool/birdcage done while the house is being built then it will cost you more than if you do it later. Reason for that is The Villages adds on their cut to whatever T&D charges them for the work. I have heard from some they have saved as much as $10k by doing the work after closing on the house. |

It's a bit of an unusual idea but it does create a larger area for pets, and costs less to do. And if you don't like it, you could always go back and concrete the area. Just a thought.... |

Where we live now, we have a doggie door and they can come and go as needed. I'm not sure I'm ready to take them out every time they feel the urge, or are just messing with me. |
We just contracted to build on Bradford loop including a bird cage built by the villages for roughly 20.00 a sq foot. The Villages still builds bird cage only. It included a 24" wall base around the cage.

However, I would like to see pictures of the wall... I think I like the idea, but would like to see it! |
The Villages will only do bird cages on the build, not pools. They will set up an appt with T&D to give you a pool price. We just did a bird cage

We are also building a new home in Buttonwood. We had Vera from T & D design our pool and outside kitchen/bar. She did a great job. T & D is putting in the pool, the Villages is building the bar and kitchen using T & D's outside cabinets (marine type cabinets). The cost was about the same. Only big benefit on doing after is that you pay tax's on the price of the house and pool when finished. If you did afterwards your assessment would be less. Example, if you pay $100.000 for pool and kitchen after the house was built your assessment would probally be half that.
PS: My neighbor called T & D last week to have a screened lanai installed, they told him it would be at least 30 days for someone to come out and give an estimate. (they are so busy). |
I know I am new here. What is a birdcage? Is it a pen for dogs? Is it the Florida room? Is there someplace else I should be looking for this info?
|
The Birdcage generally comes off the lanai... I'm trying to attach a picture.

angiefox,
thank you for the quick reply. from the picture it looks like the what I thought was the florida room. I was hoping it was a way to legally fence in an area for my pugs. Guess I look at the underground fencing . |
I have a freind is doing a large lani out of the back of there home that is being built as we speak and T&D is over double of what the wining bid was that is just rediculous i would not pay double because the builder told me too that would be like telling me to jump off a bridge they were about 20,000 higher for this big patio
