JJ Fin's Dockside Closed
I just read that JJ Fin's Dockside was sold to new owners. We enjoyed eating there. Too bad.

Skip, I nosed around on the web for a bit, trying to find out more info. Couldn't find anything. Have you got a link?
Thanks - Bill :) |
Passed

Hey, I know you have the inside scoop on restaurants, do you know when the new owners of Hacienda will be taking over?? Thanks in advance, Kath |
Great location, not so great food.
. |
The food wasn't that bad for what it is. We took our company there for dinner and had no complaints. ( Back in April of this year)
|
JJ Fins is now Hurricane Dockside Grill.

It's in Tavares.

I went there once. It was alway too far and too little for me to make a return visit. Thanks. |
It is located kind of between Tavares and Leesburg. It is probably actually in one or the other. I'm not sure where one town ends and the other one starts.

It’s on 441 about 3 miles east of the Leesburg airport. There is a channel that runs between Lake Eustis and Lake Harris and under 441 called the Dead River and it’s right there. It can be reached by land or by the river so it’s popular with boaters.

We were there today. They are still in the process of renovating. The menu is only slightly different. Many of the old favorites are still on it. Bar is being revamped. They had nothing on draught today, but will so in the near future.
|
Could never figure how the word draught was pronounced draft.
Wikipedia: Draught beer (Draft beer in U.S.) is beer served from a cask or a pressurised keg. Until Joseph Bramah patented the beer engine in 1785, beer was served directly from the cask and carried to the customer. The Old English word for carry was dragen which developed into a series of related words, including drag, draw, and draught. By extension, the word for carrying or drawing a beer came to mean the serving of the beer and, in some senses, the act of drinking, or a drink of beer itself, regardless of serving method. By the time Bramah's beer pumps became popular, the use of the word draught to mean the act of serving beer was well established and transferred easily to beer served via the hand pumps. . |

Hope the new owners improve the food. The one meal I had there was lousy.
|
The food wasn't the greatest but the little alligators were fun to watch.

And I'll bet you thought I'd have to go look up "Boolean Logic" or ask Sandy or something. :) Nope, already got that in my repertoire........math major/computer science minor in school from way back in the old days. I know - it IS scary! My only 'trick': "I'm nothing if not persistent." (and I certainly wasn't an English major!! Hee-hee!) Thanks again. Guess I just try to be a helpful kind of guy...... Bill  |

GG's back and here's a new post declaring non English-major status. All's right with the TOTV world. :highfive: |

If your computer isn't giving you the ability to simply click on the link in the post, you can try one of the following: - Highlight the link, right-click, then click "Open link in new window", - Click "Quote" on post #20 which will show you the post in its entirety. You can't copy the link verbatim from the post as the forum software abbreviates it (the '...' part). Hope those provide some help! Bill :) |

WOW! There's a mall in Leesburg? Lived here almost a year, been to Leesburg several times but apparently not far enough south into the city, and this is the first I have seen or heard anything, anywhere about the Leesburg Mall. Am I leading a sheltered life?

Bill, You always give great info.
I never have but a minute to give answers. The Leessburg mall is small but great to be so close. There is small one in Ocala too. The big ones are in the Orlando area. Bill, you might want to stick this info in a new thread. " JJ Finn's Closed" thread will not be where people would expect to find local mall info. Again thanks so much Bill for all the great info. |
