I must have missed it. I watched the whole video and all I heard was that Huckabee thought it was a mistake for Perry to avoid Iowa. What is Perry's weakness?
I want to say that I like Huckabee and occasionally watch his Saturday night show.

For establishment Republican's a lot of sentiment is given to "who's turn" it is to be the candidate. That's how we were saddled with Bob Dole and later John McCain who were more eminently uninspired and unelectable.

Many of the party leadership think it's Romney's "turn" to be the candidate and have this unproven theory that his "appeal to the middle" will make him the better candidate. The fallacy of this is that if I want a candidate "more to the left" to vote for, I'll vote for the Democrat. Why vote for a "wannabe". My example would be "John McCain 2008".

The great Ronald Reagan proved that if a candidate can espouse conservative idea's, conservative values, love of country, and optimism in the future, he will resonate with the true majority of this country. Those people who toil daily to provide for themselves and their families, praise the Lord regularly for their good fortune, and look to themselves and not a government benefactor for their future security.

Nobody verbalizes those value points better, at this time, than Gov. Rick Perry. Mitt Romney is OK with me, but he's not as dynamic or convincing. Either one with Marco Rubio as V.P. will be hard to beat.

"Who's turn is it" is an almost DAILY event. One guy announces and all of a sudden the press is speculating on who's next to enter. Perry announces and all the speculation is about Palin.

The press is like a kid at the checkout line who ALWAYS wants another candy bar.

I think Palin is about to announce. I can't really believe it. Most people know I have a lot of admiration for Palin, but realistically she has absolutely no chance. She would be better off using her time to articulate her vision of "American Idealism" and "Pride In God And Country" that she does so well, and if she limits herself to that, it can help to create and inspire the mood for a Republican victory. The campaign waters are muddy enough.

It's because she is an attention addict that she keeps throwing herself in front of the cameras and saying, "LOOK AT MEEEE" "LOOK AT MEEE!"

She wore out her good points a long time ago.

I think Palin is toast. She has no real backing and is trying to run on her ridiculous nomination for VP in the last election.

See the thing is, no matter where Sarah Palin goes she steals the show and sucks all the air out of the room. She gets the attention whether she wants it or not, so I think your statement is not quite accurate, Ilovetv. On her road trip she purposely refrained from telling the media anything about her planned itinerary, and they made fools of themselves acting like papparazzi. She doesn't have to say "look at meeee". She showed up in Iowa and everyone else was her backdrop. She's a media magnet.

For these same reasons and more, I have to disagree with the gist of your quote Z, because she still is a major force in the Tea Party faction of the Republican Party, and she will have to be dealt with by the Republican Party if they want to secure her supporters for the eventual candidate.

That's the way I see it; I could be wrong.

Why is she toast?

No real backing? That is the democrats dream, not reality.

Ridiculous nomination for VP? She invigorated McCains chances. White guilt and 96% of blacks voting for Obama was the sealer.
I personally do not think of her as a President, but I abhor the way she is represented by the left-wing propaganda machine.

Sadly, it is the truth. If I must be so bold, another truth is that the white guilt is not going to pass muster this time around. With unemployment still at record highs, and Obama starting another war, Obamacare scaring businesses, the liberals and the blacks are disenfranchised. They are looking for an alternative to this regime. Hopefully, for the future the USA, B Hussein Obama will be a one term president.

No doubt the 96 % black vote will stay somewhat the same for a few more generations. Not sure I blame them for that, I would probably do the same if I were black. I don't agree on the white guilt part. I think those that did vote for Obama was because he is, LIKE HIM OR NOT, a brilliant speaker and a charismatic personality.

I interpret that to mean that a brilliant speaker would speak eloquently from the heart, using the facts that are passionately believed in by himself, and knowing the material like the back of his hand...and therefore definitely without a teleprompter...


As far as white guilt~ I voted for Ken Blackwell in Ohio, I voted for Alan Keyes in a primary and I would vote for Allen West or Herman Cain for president if given the chance.

Now THAT I can agree with. Give her some more experience on using a 'bully pulpit' so that she can refine herself a bit in order to avoid some of the gaffes she's made.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - though I disagree with her a lot, she's got the kind of charisma that will get people off the couch and into the voting booth if she uses it right. She's got "it".

You actually think that she invigorated McCain's chances? I think she is what cost him the election. The Republicans had many choices for a VP and they picked a little known from Alaska.

She is still running on those laurals. If she every gets enough support to run on a ticket and that is a big IF, her excess baggage (Bristol, her quitting the governorship, her rhetoric, to name a few) will be enough to launch her into oblivion. She will become a footnote in history.

The fact is that McCain's campaign was in the toilet. Look it up if you don't believe me. Sarah Palin's appointment put him on the map. She was a media darling up to that point. Why, because she went after Republican's in Alaska and revealed their corrupt action and got them kicked out on their keister.

The media gulped, and after getting their bearings, went on a protracted "napalm bombing" of all things "Palin". It lasts to this very day.

But, she beats them over and over again. How does that "dumb bunny" do it? The lame stream media is a joke.

People vote for the President, not the Vice President. They didn't vote for Cheney and they didn't vote for "gaffe-a-minute-Biden.

I agree, RichieLion. McPain would have lost by a lot more if Palin hadne't been on the ticket. I had to hold my nose to vote for him, but Palin on the ticket helped. My brother absolutely refused to vote for McPain, but when Sarah came on board he relented. The media did a number on her big time. The media sent all those reporters to Alaska to find dirt on her. They didn't worry one bit about Obama's qualifications. Don't forget, before the so called economic crisis hit, McPain was ahead in the polls.

The eloquent and charisma is easy...delivering on the rhetoric is what most Americans prefer.

I always think a good measure of an individual is promises kept VS promises made.

For me personally I prefer good speakers, who know their subject and can talk from knowledge, not a script. Speakers who consistently rely on scripting are either not knowledgeable or want what they said documented...I really believe Obama is a deficient speaker, using what staff puts in front of him for what ever is the next group he is to face...or a shoring up of the personal status. In my humble opinion.
