The Political Board is Growing up
 

I am happy to say I see a major improvement on this board. Yesterday, I was sent a You Tube Video from a friend in Virginia and everything went wrong from that moment:

1. I watched it, copied and posted it to this site.
2. About a dozen folks that saw it berated me harshly and rightfully so.
3. I went back and reviewed it and it was an old, piece of trash.
4. I apologized for posting it and I learned to review, research and be sure before I post another Video.

THE BIG DIFFERENCE FROM A FEW WEEKS BACK WAS SIGNIFICANT:

No one called me Short, Fat, Ugly, etc. etc. as when the jerk train was at full throttle.
Rather the content of the Video was attacked for being false.
I was scolded for posting the trashy video and I should have been.

Point being, this content attack and not personal attack was SPOT ON as a way to improve and not destroy this Political Site.
My hat is off and I salute those that used the Civil method to make change on the site.

No I left it as posted. I felt that if I took anything away, it would be about me trying to hide where I messed up. Since I believe it is more about the benefit of the board, I left it for all to read and see how stupid my post was and hopefully read my apology and forgive my mistake. I enjoy this board and When I saw what a few were doing to it, I decided to try to help the board even if that means my loss. I have seen a big change in negative posters to include the leader of the pack since this approach. The good folks that slapped me around did it with civil words and facts. That would never have happened even a few months ago.

The name calling starts from the very top of the food chain. Our President says one thing and does another, then that flows to the Senate then to the House and on down the line. The major media outlets are no different. The Left or the Right bad mouths the other side, while each is saying, "Don't say those things."

So somewhere it has to stop and they (WH, Congress & media) need to start working to fix things to get our country back up and working, the debt fixed and not fixating on gaff that our Oh, So Smart leaders or whatnabe leaders (notice leaders in small letters) say.

That is really good to know. I hope it sticks!

I think and have hopes for a good run on civility. This has been one of the most polite Sunday afternoons I have seen in quite a while. It takes the determination of every member of the Political board to make it work, and I commend every poster for a job well done. Since the #### train seems to be empty now, I will recommend retiring the train and turning the track into a multipurpose path. And I :pray: we never need it again.

Please get ahold of yourself and your self-appointed police action. No offense, but things are going to heat up around here and nobody is going to cool it down. Oh, we can sit around the table for awhile and act cordial, but when the debates start for real, you are either going to pout or carry on.
You know about the preverbal heat and kitchen gig. Well,it is true.

Go back to the archives here for 2008. Take a walk down the old political days of yesteryear. It is commendable to keep things civil, but really, this id political. You know what they say about politics and religion?

Seriously, I do not mean to be harsh, just truthful. I went back and read dozens of threads from about 5 or 6 months before the November election. Obama has seen nothing like the way they treated President Bush.

Could you please point to any post where I personally called you a name and did not just comment on your post.

You've made it clear that you mean me. So, in fact, I'm the one who is being called a name here.

Again, please illustrate when I've done so.

(If anyone wants to know what VillagerII is so upset with me about, re-read the thread "The Dummy Does It Again". His thread by the way)

I know you are right Golfer. I just hope for a miracle, but as long as we have childish players in the game, we are going to have mud slinging personal attacks. You post in here alot, so maybe with your help, we can make a little improvement in the site. Thanks for trying.

After I dried the tears of laughter out of my eyes, I went back and read the "The Dummy does it again" thread and I did see where you insulted me a few times in there, but also where you said you liked the thread. Anyway, I don't see anything in that thread that would make you so paranoid. As I said in the post, If you insult me, I will just ignore you. LOL, you need to take a chill pill. I will do this for you, I will be very careful and sensitive when responding to anything you post. OK. Like the Budweiser guy says: " I LOVE YOU MAN"

There is no doubt that personal attacks are down, so that to me is an improvement.

In that case, you are definitely right. I am guilty as well as others of attacking political figures. Let me think about that. No you are right, an attack is an attack. I will do my best to do a better job of pointing out what I disagree with rather than the one line attacks. Ya just can't argue with a person that is right and Bucco is right about this issue. I disagree with Bucco. A public figure is up for scrutiny and as so, the public is allowed to say whatever they may feel about this person. Their family, I feel, may be included if that family member is also a public figure and has spoken on some issue that I either believe in or not.

There have plenty of "personal attacks" on this forum on President Obama that are not job related.

OK fine, if you say so, but you say right on the thread I mentioned, "The Dummy Does It Again", that my referring to that thread about "who's dumber" a childish question, an unforgivable offense, and that from then on I was to be ignored.

You then when on to post a series of threads where the incident, including the curious PM you sent me, was mentioned and began your references to the couple of members on the "jerk train", as you called it. That had to mean Villagegolfer who stuck up for me; and that you subsequently "ignored", and me.

If you want to apologize for all that, I'm willing to listen, but as Judge Judy says "Don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining".

For those of you who are so concerned with "civility" (definition of which is in the fingers of who ever is typing...eh?) and also were not around in the months prior to the 2008 for a comparison......today's and yesterday's forum on it's worst (shall we say un-civil) day do not compare within one iota to the behavior and venom spewed by the Bush bashers and or pro Obama bombastics.

It is supposed to be point and counter point....not pre-determined feel good commentary only. I do not subscribe to attacking the messenger....a sure sign of weakness. However, like it or not, I do enjoy those willing to passionately stand by their "man" without denegrating party or person.

I too do not see any current changes of significance, that may be because I read at face value (hopefully) without spending too much time looking between the lines or oblique messages.

Just wait until next year. Maybe some of the bashers of pre 2008 will reactivate...rather than lurk.

I have met RichieLion and enjoy his company a great deal. He is a funny man, but certainly not a little man. Good sized dude who likes to work out at the gym. Former Teamster, too. Hey, I am going to respect him!

You would write who done its I was talking about M Bachmann and I am confused on the rest. Keep in mind I am a country boy and your from the big city so If I sound simplistic, thats just me. There is no doubt you can be very sarcastic, but that did not get you the conductors job on the Jerk Train. By the way, that train no longer runs on this line.

I went back and read some of the old threads. Where are all the Obama water carriers now? Why haven't they been back defending him? Maybe he is undefendable now and they are sorry that they voted for him?

Wow, I got caught in a drenching downpour on the green. I was drenched before I could make it back to my golf cart. Now I'm dry and having so much fun talking to my friends on TOTV. HAPPY LABOR DAY!!!

A Better Alternative?
 

There's a lot of what he's done that is undefendable, although not everything. I voted for him and I've said I would not vote for him for a second term. But the most bothersome thing to me is that there must be a better alternative than a second Obama term. I'm sad to say that as much as I want to replace him as POTUS, I'm not seeing a better alternative right now.

Anybody is better then a socialist imposing anti-business regulations into a fragile economy. Instead of spending precious time trying to right the economy, Obama spent months lobbying for health care in a still crippled market.

Almost any conservative would be a hundred times better then this regime, and you know it.
