HomeGoods Store Update
I was in the HomeGoods store in Orlando yesterday (don't you just love a bargain) and when I was checking out I asked the manager why they didn't have a store in the Villages. She said a store in TV had been in the works for awhile and she had just heard that they had finalized approval. She did not know exactly where the store would be or exactly when they would be starting building but she said it was the next store to be built. I asked if this was just another rumor and she said absolutely not. Now if we could just get a Trader Joe's and a Costco, TV would be perfect.

Thanks for the heads up. |
Nice! Thanks for the update!!
Costco is only about 1/2 hour away right now, correct? We drive 40 miles currently to Costco. I really like them so much more than BJs. Especially the eyeglasses! |

Lincap,
Thanks for the info. We have emailed Costco our wishes for a location near TV. It never hurts to let them keep hearing from us. ;) |
I've always wanted to check out a Costco......according to mapquest, any way you slice it they say it is about an hour away from The Villages, closest one being in Alamonte Springs?

Now, I want to also be doing the happy dance for Costco....hopefully that will happen......and soon! |

So, for $40 we joined Sam's Club. They had a promotion where you got $40 off your order so, in effect, it was free. They have a good enough selection of goods and services and they're right down the road. I have emailed Costco to advise them of the huge market they're ignoring in this fastest growing area of Central Florida. Maybe if enough people do so? |

I lived less than a mile from Costco in CA and it was where I did most of my shopping. I do miss the store and even though it's a full day's venture, I look forward to our southward journey to shop....and having Home Goods right across the street is an extra perk... ;) |
Up here we belong to both BJ's and Sam's Club....where we are in Leesburg, BJ's is south of us in Clairmont, where Sam's is north of us where you guys are.
It seems the prices at the Villages Sam's club are a bit higher then other ones we've been at....I believe many chains do this because they think they simply can due to the local demographic. As much as I love our Florida home, due to the many lakes, etc, a lot of things take much longer to get to then one would first think. But, to get back on topic, I've never been to a HomeGoods.....I'm sure my wife will find it soon enough once we're down there..... Frank |

With an 80,00 plus population, I would tend to think there is a lot of purchasing power these other stores would be missing out on. Just sayin........ |

i have two local cts stores and when i buy something there i always give my villages zip code since that is how they determine store placement. am excited that i will be shopping the cts, nh in a few weeks - no sales tax!!!! :) |
What's a HomeGoods store? Am an avid shopper from Canada and we don't have one. We drive to Orlando to Costco...so is Altamonte an easier/shorter drive?...or stop and go. Thanks.

You can google "home goods".
Here's a list of some of the items they carry. Top Categories. Furniture Home Decor Area Rugs Bookcases Computer Desks File Cabinets TV Stands Bathroom Vanities I bought bedspreads, sheets and pillows of a high quality and their prices are extremely low for what you get. There are some in Canada in Ottowa, Quebec and Toronto. Use the store locator function. I hope this helps. |

Eventually that changed. The first summer my wife and I walked into a CTS and saw it had become a kind of huge discount store of crafts and things, we were appalled. It had only a little section of Christmas notions and we didn't like it. That changed as they got their feet under them, and by the time they moved to Paramus NJ with a huge store, we became fans. So many bargains. |
Any news updates on the Home Goods store when it going to open up here?
|
combo TJ Maxx & Homegoods
they have combo stores as well, maybe we'll get one of those. I bought some stuff in Orlando at a Homegoods (near Dr. Phillips) when I was visiting my daughter, asked about returns to TJ Maxx and they said only if it's a combo store - so, I'm hoping . . .
There's a combo store very near to me in Columbus, OH, love to shop there. It's also near an Asian grocery store - speaking of which, are there any good ones close to TV? |
I was surprised to find that the Home Goods store in Winter Garden was combined with a Marshall's. TJ Maxx and Marshall's must be kin.

True
You can interchangeably use gift cards from TJ Maxx and Marshall's, but apparently you can only return Homegoods stuff to another Homegoods or a combo store.

I've made purchases at the Home Goods store in Altamonte Springs and returned them to the TJ Maxx in TV. They have a few home products not like the combo stores, but they will take your returns.
|
Which HomeGoods is closest to TV ? Is it the one in Winter Garden or the one in Altamonte Springs? Once on TOTV I thought I read that there was one in Ocala near Costco but I can't find one when looking at the locations.
I have a HomeGoods store about 5 mins from my home and work and that is a good/bad thing. If you find something you like you have to buy it because if you go back to get it someone else has gotten your treasure. |
