we bought a home on our very first visit to TV
We are coming to the Villages this weekend for the second time in our lives to be certain we didn't just dream that we bought a house in what seemed to be Paradise-- or at least summer camp for adults! Looking forward to meeting our new neighbors in Sanibel -- we will be on Silk Tree Terrace.

"Congrats and good luck as you start living the dream.
I am soooooooo happy for you." :agree: |
 Helen,
Welcome, welcome welcome! Your post brought a broad smile to my face. Many Villagers did just as you did and have never regretted it for a minute. Although we didn't buy on the first trip, we knew on the first trip. Oh yes, we knew. Congratulations. May the rest of your life be the best of your life. :a040::pepper2::a040: |

Don't look back - Only Forward!
Congratulations!!! Many of us have done the same thing and have never regretted it for even a second. Once you move in, you'll say to yourself, "Pinch me.....I must be DREAMING!"
Livin' the dream....... |
Oh, thank you everyone so much for your support -- we are so excited about joining all of you for the rest of our lives!!
Helen |
Good for you! May we all live happily ever after! :)

At one point I thought about having tee shirts for those who've bought on their first visit, but soon realized that there would be soooooo many wearing the shirt that it would look like a sea of red, green, blue, whatever color the shirts were. Not that this is a bad thing.... ;)
Congratulations and welcome to TV! |
Fantastic story. All the best to you!!!
|
We will be arriving tomorrow and staying until Wednesday --hope we run into (not literally) some of you while we are there.

It Happens
We met a couple at a party and I mentioned about a place called The Villages. The husband was on a business trip to Orlando soon so he mentioned about checking out the place. His wife was not interested at all as she had no interest in golf. Well, about a couple of months later we met at another party and both he and she had a silly grin on their faces. They went to TV and on a second day saw a furnished model home for sale and bought it. This was a few years before we bought our place. They have now sold their place in VA and are Froggies. She became a Zumba instructor and now started playing golf. It happens. When we call them there, they are mostly out of the house doing some activities.:)

I find it amazing how someone is dead set against something and then when they see TV, they get a glazed look in their eye and say, This place is for me.
It sounds like you have a made a friend who is grateful you mentioned TV to them. Great story. |
We have sold our home in Miami and are about to start construction on Silk Tree Terrace in Sanibel! We will be moving in December or January --so excited! If someone had predicted this for us six months ago we would have told them they were out if their minds!

Bought a lot within 24 hours of first visit arrival.....this past January.
Started building in June.....closed on 8/31. Life is good. :D |
WElcome to the First Visit Home Buyers Club.
Maybe we ought to start a club like that for real. LOL |
First Visit Buyers
On our first visit last year We bought a lot and will be moving in on Oct. 28th. It still seems like a dream to us also.
Figmo Bohica, I am too a retired LEO from Cleveland. Hope to meet you when we get there. Moving into Tamarind Grove on Odessa Circle.:a040: |
Welcome Helen and Irv
I've said it b4 and will say it again, "We have all won the Lifestyle Lottery"....good for us!

old moe - Always best to check the info out, whether it's in TV, back home, or elsewhere. I don't feel the sales folks intentionally give out incorrect information. If you feel they do, it's probably best to take your concern to management in the sales group. The sales force is more focused on the house (and the sale) rather than supplying a prospective buyer with all the 'nitty gritty' about things related to the house and the purchase transaction.
Again, it's always best to do what you're doing - checking things out for yourself!! Bill :) |
Yes, now it turns out that the elevation we picked will not fit on the lot we picked -- found out just in time! Now we will be on Vanilla Leaf Way instead if Silk Tree Terrace and it will cost us $7000 more --but we are still looking forward to becoming frogs. We may just have to croak sooner if our money runs out!
|
We just sent our deposit and and will close in TV on January 11 -- move in on the 12th, the day before our house in Miami closes (hope all goes well with that!) -- can't wait to meet everyone!!!

Helen: I just love it when someone retains there sense of humor when feeling stress. I know I am hysterical when really under a lot of stress or at least that is what I'm told by relatives. Best wishes that everything goes smoothly and you can start living the dream. :) |
See you next month. Congratulations! Enjoy the journey!:jester::wave:

Helen. Sorry for your change of plans and the stress and decidedly sorry about the money.
You are someone that I am so looking forward to meeting, and I know many of us who post on here feel the same. Getting the house you want, even if it means switching lots is worth it, we did the same thing too. Now that we are in, I am SO glad we did. Thinking about you and wishing you all good things. Gracie. |
How exciting! Enjoy your new home!

It's not a Dream!
Your home and friends await you!

I have seen other retirement communities but when I first visited TV and spent a few days here, I thought I drew a straight flush in poker. I wished I could say getting a hole in one but never to this day had the privilege so poker metaphor would be it. I would have wanted to but couldn't buy on the first visit. Guess couldn't join the First Visit Buyers' Club:angel:

Thanks, all --

Doing nothing today but it is still Paradise.
Slow day here. Sewing and fixing things so the house feels all "done". Went to check on dear friends home who is a snowbird. Mailed some stuff, went to the Bealls outlet on 466A and I like their merchandise so much better than one on 466. Just driving around doing chores and enjoying the beautiful flowers and trees and birds and people running, and bicyling and walking and zipping around in their darling different golf carts. Nothing exciting today, but it is still just wonderful living here. |
