Liberals are smater
 
I have been reading about the connection between Higher intelligence and liberal thinkers. Everything points toward liberals being in the group with the highest IQ. It does make sense and I can see where having a higher understanding of not only yourself, but of others around you would cause you to be more liberal. If you don't have the ability to analyze all aspects of a situation thoroughly, you would more likely fall into a more primitive mode of self protection at all cost. Hence studies indicate that the high level thinkers tend to be liberal.

I would trust sciencedaily before I would pajama media. Remember someone quoting them? And I have said previously that those who can see more shades of grey in issues are more flexible in their thinking....and therefore more able to analyze problems. You know...actually thinking through an issue, not being "the deceider" who could not name ONE little thing he had done wrong.

Also ironic that K's definition of liberalism is so self-serving and flattering without acknowledging any of the real substance of the differences in conservative and liberal belief systems.

Most of the diehard liberals that I know are products of long term association with academia. They have all the philosophical, theoretical, creative, ideological knowledge that a person could ever ask for. When it comes to practical, street smart, reality based ability to do something like, hmmm...double a recipe, they are at a loss. I have a sister with 4 different degrees, and top of her class for one of them, who literally called our mom to ask how to double a recipe! BTW, Sis is as liberal as they come. :laugh:

The Villager II, you can private message the forum administrator and ask him to correct your spelling in the title. I've misspelled words in the title of posts and it isn't a very good feeling to realize you can't go back and correct it on your own. Signed: a compassionate, high-level thinking conservative.

I was drafted in 65'...couldn' t afford college and spent my time with fast cars and fast women..

I returnd in 67 and was horrified to learn how the distinctions were made regarding service,when I was drafted there was no lottery,if you were 19,single,not in college,you were outta here..If you knew the right people you could get into the coast guard...they had waiting lists for community college..It truly was a "poor man's" war..It was a sad chapter in the history of our country...I belong to the village vva and it is one of the largest organizations in Florida,over 450 members..Close to 5000 people eligible in the villages alone..we raise money for the wounded vets, and scholarships for local kids..We recently introduced to the school's libraries, factual histories (without the gore) , of this country's involvement in southeast asia..I have a sticker on my golf cart, "Never again will one generation of veterans forget a previous one"..

Hat's off to all the brothers in arms, no matter when they served...

Bingo. Parents who had the means kept their "kids" in college until the war was over or their kid had a high draft number. Right after the war ended, they took a shower, cut their hair and went to big business and Wall Street. A few stayed at college to teach the next generation of socialists.

Being a conservative, I am used to that. I wondered why everyone was talking about spelling. I even looked at my own post and still did not catch it. I really cant spell, so I always use spell check. You just taught me that spell check don't look at the title. Thanks . Sometimes my spelling is so far off that spell check can't figure it out. LOL I was raised to believe liberal was a four letter word don't ya know.

The intelligentsia are so far removed from reality living in their academic world that is in constant extensions of theory. Or as I have said they intellectualize themselves into stupidity. e.g War is bad so under no circumstances should we fight a war....shades of Hilter. The above stated post would suggest that conservatives are not thinkers and that liberals have the market on creativity. Actually what we have are two different approaches to problem solving Methinks William Buckley would get a kick out of this assertion

1) Please post links to support your accusation that Science Daily is liberal. You ask for links all the time...

2) I just finished reading the article and it was based on research, not opinion. You sound like you are accusing someone of falsifying date, which is a serious matter. A very serious matter.

BTW (and I know you did not say this Richie), I know how to convert a recipe for 4 into one for 7. But that has nothing to do with having common sense. It has to do with basic math skills. General intelligence, mathematical skills and verbal skills are somewhat correlated, but not the same thing. You can be genius IQ in verbal and average in math.

Like I said...see the shades of gray.....I am democrat who supports the death penalty, patroling our borders, people taking individual responsibility for their actions and dispise the general sense of entitlement so many people have...Talk about arrangant...Buckley's picture is next to the word in the dictionary.

And we all know that high IQ in a person with no common sense or no practical wisdom gained by life experience......is basically useless in public leadership and problem solving.

That describes a Personal Message I received from someone who posts here frequently. She apparently thought I was one her ilk. ( apparently she never really read my posts LOL) When I set her straight she put me on her ignore

Read Teilard ( I think that is spelled wrong) des Chardin's Alpha to Omega. A Jesuit Priest. I went to Loyola and most of my prof's were Jesuit priests. Great teachers...

I also had Jesuit teachers and either forgot or slept through this. Google tells me his name is Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, and he has many great quotes.

One that applies to we Villagers is:

A favorite of mine, now that I'm reading them is:

That's him. When I was at Loyola, way back in the dark ages, if you were Catholic you had to minor in Religion. If you were not, you had to minor in philosophy. So I minored in philosophy. (Of course no 18 year old has had enough life experiences to comprehend appreciate most philosophers.) Chardin was my favorite. Alpha to Omega is about how a Jesuit priest, who was a trained scientist, made peace with the knowledge of evolution and the story of Adam and Eve. Brillant scientist and spirtual at the same time. What a guy!!
