Have you noticed...

that for the past 2 or 3 weeks the tone on the board is kind of anti education? Like being an educated person is a bad thing? I think the next time you folks who think like that go to a surgeon, make sure he or she is in the bottom half of their graduating class so you will feel more comfortable.

RichieLion 09-19-2011 03:19 PM

I'd have to say I haven't noticed what you mean. What do you mean?

Snowbirdtobe 09-19-2011 03:23 PM

In selecting a surgeon I think that the team and experience are more important than class rank. You want to pick out a hospital where they do lots of the procedure. You want to be in a place where you might be treated like a piece of meat on a conveyor belt. Where they do hundreds a year of the procedure that you are having done.
Statistics for some procedures show that the outcome improves even after the surgeon has done it 1000 times.
I do think that education is important. The last surgeon that I went to didn't post his class rank on his wall.
He did post paper from Harvard and Massachusetts General Hospital and had a great team.

WOW- we read the same posts and you have not picked up on that, I am surprised.....ie: those intellectuals can't do anything, education does not prepare you to do anything, pot smoking social workers, to name a few.

Ladydoc, I think we are all a little confused. (actually, I find that I'm confused most of the time anyway!!)

Al, if you haven't done so, please start a new thread with all the wonderful details. Thanks!

LadyDoc, sorry I haven't noticed it being any more anti-education than it ever was. Actually, I've interpreted most of the comments to be more anti-Dem or liberal with the jibes being to the intellectuals of that persuasion (nothing new there). But, all in all, I'd say that TVers respect those who are intelligent and give reasoned responses. Don't think education has much to do with it, though.

If I had the energy I would try to find some more examples for y'all that I read in the last few weeks. Not worth it to me. I will start copying them as I come across them in what I read.

Awwwwwwwwww. So precious. Did you notice that he wants to grow up to be a TV frog? No? Check out the pose, y'all.

Oops, just to get back on topic, may I say that this was... an educated guess.
