Don't hold your breath. Congress needs a raise first, they have been working so hard for WE THE PEOPLE.

Read the linked article. Social SecurityCOLA raises are done by formula, precisely to take political manipulation out of it. Final number is due out tomorrow morning.

Thanks for the link, 2B

cola or congress raise?

Figmo Bohica 10-18-2011 05:27 PM

Hopefully SS, but then again congress will raise Part B payment so they can afford a 7 percent raise for themselves. No matter what the Foggy Bottom Boys/Girls will get theirs.

Raise

Ya know what that means 3.5% from us plus 3.5% for the equals 7 % raise for politicians after all theyb work very hard, NOT!

buggyone 10-18-2011 08:53 PM

The Social Security Cost of Living Adjustment is based on the Consumer Price Index. It is not voted on by Congress.

Figmo Bohica 10-19-2011 06:29 AM

skip, you have it right on the raise for our hard working congress criminals and then to top it off, they will raise Part B by 3.6 percent. We should do just fine with less.

memason 10-19-2011 06:39 AM

Geeezzzzz.... This is the first time I've ever seen folks be upset over getting a RAISE!

Be happy!

Figmo Bohica 10-19-2011 08:07 AM

The phrase "damned if you do and damned if you don't" comes to mind...

In any case, I'm takin' it!!!

I just saw this on Yahoo Finance and it is to start in January, 2012.

I will look for it in the check for February, 2012, as SS is always one month delayed.

I am also looking into a new medical plan where my monthly premium will not go up as my old plan has had a projected increase in their premium.

Hopefully, I will realize the full benefit of this increase.

You will get the 3.6% raise in your January check. COLA's are always effective with the first check in January.

I stand corrected. This is my first COLA increase. :)

aljetmet 10-19-2011 12:15 PM

no medicare increase in 2012? for some

Here is something I just found stating that some people will not get a medicare raise in 2012.

http://blogs.reuters.com/reuters-mon...raise-in-2012/

My wife is on medicare due to her disability. 2011 was her first year on medicare and she pays $115.40. Article says in 2012 it will reduce to $106.60.

Am I wrong?

Maybe you brought us all good luck with this being your first. I'm happy for you, and never forget you earned it!

rubicon 10-19-2011 02:34 PM

If by formula we do end up with 3.5% I am certain that it will be match with a 7.0 raise in our taxes somewhere

waynet 10-19-2011 02:42 PM

Wow,the negativity is just unbelievable.
