eweissenbach 10-24-2011 02:24 PM

Hey big ant, I would think your and your wife's services would both be able to find a niche in TV, provided you are good at what you do.

BigAnt:

I just wanted to wish a :welcome: to TOTV.

It's a great site so keep on posting.

If your picture doesn't work, I believe this a size limitation of 64K.

I hope this helps.

:wave:Yo, Big Ant! Used to live in washington Twp, off Ganttown Road. Been here for 5 years and am loving it. No more ice or snow, and no more crawling up Rt. 42 to Philly!

15 years went in a flash...you will see! We like Virginia...down near VA Beach. Retiring December 31...then on to The Villages. BTW I have a neice who teaches at Hurffville Elementary and my dad worked there after he retired as a custodian years ago.

Congrats on getting your avatar to work.

I think 20% of residents are allowed under 55 years of age.

I'm sure other members can explain it better.

BigAnt 10-25-2011 12:18 PM

Curious? Are there many dinner parties held in the villages. And are there any chefs living there? Sorry for all the questions. I've had alot of reviews but not alolike t of info.I'm a sponge.

I agree!

BigAnt I have seen many post on this site asking about catering for private parties, based on that I would say there is a demand for your type of business in TV.

eweissenbach 10-25-2011 01:54 PM

I'm no expert, but it seems to me that there would be a lot of interest in a private caterer. TV is a party place with neighborhood and block parties along with parties for every conceiveable holiday, so seems there would be demand if your service, quality, and price were in line. Advertising on TOTV would prolly be a sound business decision. As far as being under 55, that should pose no problem as I don't think the 20% threshold is close to being met. There are also a few family villages if you have kids (Spring Arbor, Bison Valley, Oak Meadows......)

BigAnt 10-25-2011 03:32 PM

Thanks you guys and gals. You have been a awesome host and hostess during my time on your site.
I look forward to visiting the villages. Would anyone like anything brought down to you when we come. Like Tasty cakes. Soft pretzels from Philly.etc.

swrinfla 10-25-2011 04:56 PM

BigAnt:

A thought or two.

The Villages is certainly a partying place. But, there are so many "free" events going on that there very well may be obstacles to establishing your catering business.

My guess would be that you should concentrate on small events: such as a couple inviting a half-dozen or so neighbors in.

I personally host one special event, a Xmas Eve dinner. I do all the work and clean-up, because it's family. However, I'd be glad to have someone else do the "grunt" work!

There are, of course, many events where more folks are expected and where more folks may want a small cut of the proceeds! These will undoubtedly require deeper research.

Do not be afraid to ask questions, even greatly detailed ones, here on TOTV!

You will find some one ready, willing and able to give you a well-thought-out and cautiously optimistic on-line answer!

As always Ant...this gentleman is right on target. Please don't make a costly move until you are sure you can make a living here. Times are hard everywhere.

How about I bring some canolies from termanies.and some almeretta cookies. And by the way im not looking to make a mint. And what did u mean by someone would want a piece of the proceeds. We talking politics?
