three favorite musicians
There is another post about naming the three best presidents. As expected, it is starting to get ugly. How about a poll that won't be so political.
How about your three favorite groups/ singers of all time. Mine are The Beatles Rod Stewart Billy Joel |
Bob Seger
The Eagles Lynard Skynard |
Beatles
Lennon McCartney |

I went to McCartney's concert this past summer at Yankee Stadium. He did a tribute to George that had everybody tearing up.
The guy puts on a helluva show. IMO, the world's greatest entertainer. |
hard to pick just three, but I'll give it a shot
Sir Elton John Peter Paul and Mary Hall and Oates |

The Four Seasons The Beatles ( If I want to stay married. She was at the Shea concert) Elvis |

Jim Croce James Taylor (Secret O'Life is my favorite song and here are the lyrics:) Well the secret of life is enjoying the passage of time. Any fool can do it, There ain't nothin' to it. Nobody knows how we got to the top of the hill. But since we're on our way down, We might as well enjoy the ride. The secret of love is in opening up your heart. It's okay to feel afraid, But don't let it stand in your way, No now. Cuz everyone knows that love is the only road. And since we're only here for awhile, We might as well show some style, Give us a smile now, (Chorus) Isn't it a lovely ride? Sliding down, and Gliding down, and Try not to try too hard. It's just a lovely ride. The thing about time is that time isn't really real. It's all on your point of view, How does it feel to you in there, and Einstein said that you could never understand it all. Planets spinning through space, The smile upon your face, Welcome to the human race, (Chorus) Isn't that a lovely ride, Oh la la yes, See me sliding down and gliding down, Try not to try too hard, It's just a lovely ride. Now the secret of life is enjoying the passage of time... |

Famous Final Scene is my second favorite Seger tune. Close call between it and Turn the Page, but I really like the instrumental part of Turn the Page. |
Think any three I name would be likely to change tomorrow. Top three songs, yes, but top three singers, not so sure but I'll try.
Janis definitely would be on my list for any song she did John Mayall -- never missed him when he played in San Francisco; love Clapton, but Mayall playing the harp beats Eric out by a smidgen John Coltrane -- his sax always gives me chills but Blue Train can bring me to tears Tupac Shakur and Eminem -- both great wordsmiths Number one all-time favorite song is by Meatloaf -- Paradise by the Dashboard Lights. I can listen to that song 1,000 times in a row and then ask that it be played again. |

Otis Redding "Dock of the Bay"
The Hollies. "He's My Brother" and "Air that I Breathe" El Divo |
1. Beatles
2. Eagles 3. One of one hundred or more, changes daily. Oldcoach Ed, I noticed you listed Hall and Oats. Maybe you've already seen it, but Daryl Hall has a website "Live from Daryl's House" where he does live video recordings with a lot of new and old artists. They do new songs and usually one or two of the H&A classics. I love the site and check it out often. Suggest you check out Episode 40 where Daryl travels to Kauai and his band plays with Todd Rundgren. If you like Hall & Oats, you probably like the "other" great Philly rock and roller, the Runt. |

"Paradise By The DashBoard Light" could be the best song ever produced. A classic with the help of Todd Rundgren. This is also in my juke box. # 146/ flipside Two out Of The Ain't Bad. |
