Go Bills!

The team is finally intact with the return of their All-Pro left tackle Jason Peters! Although they lost a starting linebacker (Crowell) to knee surgery, they are getting the pieces together for a play-off run. They are off most people's radar, but they could be the surprise team of the season. Injuries hurt them last year, but if they stay healthy who knows?

Any other Bills fans out there???

Re: Go Bills!

You Bet!

And I don't care if everybody else in TV loves the Cowboys, Giants, Packers etc, The Bills are my team. I've always loved the underdog and hope to live long enough to watch them win a Super Bowl. Today's game was a good start, and typical of what I think the year will be like; very good defense, struggling offense and phenomenal special teams. Can two out of three be enough?

Go Bills!

Re: Go Bills!

Is there are restaurant, club, bar, etc. in The Villages where Bills games are featured?

Alex 09-08-2008 02:05 AM

Re: Go Bills!

I think there is a Bills club that meets at local bars. I saw a sign last year at Crazy Gringos, but don't know if they still meet there. I will be full time at the Villages next year, so I will be looking for a place to meet up too.

Great game today. No costly mistakes, great defense, and exciting special teams. Seattle is not a slouch, but they could do little today in Buffalo. Should be an exciting year!

Rokinronda 09-08-2008 02:22 AM

WTG N.E. Patriots YES YES YES!!!

PATRIOTS!!!!!!! woohooooo!!

If you're still in Blo, try Checkers at Hertel & Parker.

Re: Go Bills!

Ok I will. Thanks Mallory.
Going to bed now.

Go Bills!

Rockinrhonda,

You deserve a good spanking!

Alex 09-09-2008 03:40 AM

Re: Go Bills!

In the Sun(village newspaper) it says Crazy Gringos is home to the Bills fans for the last 5 years. A quote from the paper "We come to be surrounded by Bills fans..."

Great! See ya there sometime.

Go Bills!

Alex 09-14-2008 09:37 PM

Great game today!! Go Bills!

JohnN 09-14-2008 11:50 PM

Bills looked tough!

Number 6 09-16-2008 05:51 PM

There is a Bills Backers chapter in The Villages. Go the the Bills web site to either join, or add this Chapter to your profile. I belong to the Southern Tier Chapter as well. They (or we, as I just got here) meet for the games at Crazy Gringo's.
The Bills are now the class of the AFC East. Hey, the Pats beat the Cheifs and Jets. Wow!

Alex 09-21-2008 04:09 PM

The First-Place Bills!

Despite an atypical breakdown of the special teams today, the fourth quarter for the Bills was as exciting as it gets in the NFL. I think the Raiders got tired, and the Bills didn't. Another great come-back, and thanks to Miami, they go in front of the Pats. What a day!!

Best Mom 09-22-2008 04:06 PM

I am a Bills fan too!

What a game on Sunday! 3-0 Go Bills!:a040:

JohnN 09-22-2008 04:29 PM

I'm not really a Bills fan, but I'll give 'em credit, they're playing fine ball these days,

I'm a bit weary of the Pats winning all the time, go Bills

Number 6 09-28-2008 08:08 PM

Now 4-0!

retiredguy 09-28-2008 08:30 PM

I'm not a Bills fan since the old OJ days, but my friend provides team security so I keep that to myself. Glad they're doing well though. They've had a long history of being in the dumps. So Go Bills !

JohnN 09-29-2008 05:57 PM

Not to be a party pooper LOL..
but Dolphins, Jets and Pats?...

I wonder how the Bills would fare in the NFC east?
thoughts? just to create a little discussion?

I think they might be 2-2

Number 6 09-30-2008 02:12 PM

Let's see. Last year the Bills were 4-2 aganist the AFC East. Now the Pats, well let's just say they are not the Pats so much these days as the Patsies. The Fins are a couple of years away from contending, but they did beat the Pats. The Jets just beat the Cards (is there a worse team than the Cards?) to go 2-2. The Bills are 4-0 and heading to Arizona. Who in the AFC East would the Bills not be favored to beat, and with good reason?
Let's look at the QBs. Brady goes down and so goes the Pats. If Faurve goes down the Jets have Cleo Lemon. That's right, the Cleo Lemon. If ... who is starting for the Fins? Well, that makes my point. If Edwards is hurt, JP can carry the Bills.
Enough for today, but I have been a Bills fan since the Jack Kemp days.

ijusluvit 09-30-2008 10:28 PM

Did I ever mention that my favorite number is Number6!

JohnN 10-01-2008 07:30 AM

alright, just because of the enthusiasm here,
I'll be a Bills fan for the AFC ,

still gotta love My Bears too , though, one year soon they'll return
(but not with Kyle Orton at the helm, nor Lovie Smith for that matter)

Alex 10-01-2008 07:57 PM

I have to really agree with #6. There is very little difference between the better teams of the NFL and the average teams of the NFL. Some teams have great talent, but team organization or coaching is in the dumps. Some teams have the organization and decent talent, but get hit with a major injury. The Giants struggling with the Bengals, Washington beating Dallas, Dolphins beating NE, etc. shows it doesn't matter what division you are in.

The Bills are learning how to win, are staying relatively healthy, have an excellent organization, have developed their offensive and defensive lines, and are adding a few star players. This is all adding up to a great turn around and possibly a successful season. There are flaws in every team. Minimizing those, and maximizing the positive will go a long way.

Oh, and I have been a Bills fan a long time too, and was greatly disappointed when the Bills went with Kemp and traded Daryl Lamonica. I think they went with leadership over talent, so who is to say?

ijusluvit 10-01-2008 08:26 PM

Hey Alex,

Holy Cow. Still tossing around that Kemp-Lamonica thing makes you as old a Bills fan as me. How many games (at $5 a pop for good seats) did you see in the Rockpile?

But, wait. There are more important issues to be settled. This JohnN guy thinks he might want to be a Bills fan all of a sudden. I don't know about you, but somehow this spur of the moment band wagon boarding seems to be kind of shallow and insincere. You know, as the season progresses we're gonnna see Bills fans everywhere. You won't even be able to get into Crazy Gringos! They will swear their loyalty but they won't have any idea of who Steve Tasker or Jim Braxton are, much less Mike Stratton or Elbert Dubenion. Don't you think we'd better to come up with some entry requirements?

Alex 10-01-2008 09:04 PM

How about making it a requirement that they still have a set of milk bottle caps of the '64 champiionship team? Or be able to know who the electric company were that powered the Juice? Or name one corner of the Bermuda Triangle? What will the persona be of this new team? Time will tell.

Oh, give John a break. After all, we borrowed Da Bills from Da Bears. And we did get their coach.....

Mallory 10-01-2008 10:19 PM

You guys are a bunch of newcomers to the bandwagon! Who was the first Bills player? A Beef on 'Weck for the winner.

Number 6 10-02-2008 09:18 AM

Mallory, I have to be honest here. I thought it was Richie Lucus, as he was our first draft choice, but I see you are looking for Joe Schaffer who signed on December 5, 1959. Yes, I own a copy of Relentless. That alone should make me a real Bills fan.

samhass 10-02-2008 10:05 AM

Alex, Are you from the Buffalo area?

JohnN 10-02-2008 11:39 AM

oh, I remember the Bills past vividly and fondly, though not a Buffalo kid,
Jack Kemp, Daryl Lamonica, some guy named Juice LOL

I do like Dick Jauron,

good luck Bills, I think you'll make the playoffs and win the division,
then the fun begins. I picked Jax as my SuperBowl contender,
I think Buffalo and Jax in the AFC final.

I MIGHT be tempted to root for Buffalo if that happens LOLOL, good luck all

Bills Fan

:a040: Well guys, I am not only a Bills fan, but I live 3 miles from "THE RALPH'. It is always a great turnout here and the 4 & 0 is really exciting everyone up here in Western New York. I'm coming down the end of October and may see some of you at Crazy Gringos. Thanks for the support. JanetandCarol

Number 6 10-02-2008 01:03 PM

All right, you are a fan if you remember "The Hit". BTW, I grew up in Akron (NY).

I live about 10 miles from "The Ralph" and am a "not-near-enough-part-time" TVer. We are coming down Oct 25th for just a couple of weeks and would love to meet you folks at Crazy Gringos! JohnN: Bills fan? Attendance is required.

I watched Mike Stratton make 'The Hit' from just a few rows above the field. What an exciting game!

OK, so don't look at the book - Who was the Bill's first 300-pound lineman? (The question today would have to be: Are there any active NFL linemen who weigh less than 300 lbs.)

Go Bills!
Pete

Back to the Drawing Board...

Well, Arizona sure had the right offense for the Bills. Quick passes, multiple receiver sets, etc., and the Bills only stopped them once. Without their starting quarterback, they would have had to play a perfect game on offense to keep up with the Cardinals. Not going to happen with JP.

Two weeks to get healthy and figure out how to defend that kind of offense, because every other team is going to do that to them.

JohnN 10-07-2008 01:19 PM

I read an article about how Trent Edwards may still think the Bills are undefeated since he doesn't remember the game.

I hope the bye week helps and he comes back OK to play.
Alex, Cards did play 'em tough, I was surprised given that Anquan Boldin was out

Alex 10-13-2008 08:40 PM

Arizona Isn't a Patsy

The Bills have nothing to apologize for in their loss to Arizona. Nor does the AFC East. None of the teams, Jets, Bills, Dolphins and Patriots, are push-overs. Compare their records to other divisions, and they stack up ok.

Trent Edwards was practicing today, so he looks good to go. He didn't remember anything until on the way home from Arizona, so they have to do a better job of protecting him. That Arizona safety is one nasty guy. Their defense looked a lot different when he came back from his injury.
Dallas found that out this past weekend.

Go Bills!

Best Mom 10-14-2008 08:11 AM

What fun!

Bills fans are the best!! I live in Fredonia, NY and won't get to the Villages for some time but I can't wait to party with other Bills fans! Don't ya think we are due...I hope this is the year!! I will love the Bills regardless.

KathieI 10-14-2008 10:37 AM

Mom,
Is that the game with the pointy ball???
Good luck! Go Bills!! :a040: Just for Mom!!!
She deserves it!

Best Mom 10-19-2008 02:58 PM

I think The Bills just won!!

There are still 3 minutes but it is Buffalo-23 and SD-14!:a040:
Strange game, they lost all power and had a delay in the beginning but this is Buffalo...best fans and cold winters.

Ok-I know nothing about football...but I know I am a fan!

Yea Bills-Go Bills- YEA BILLS:a040:

Alex 10-19-2008 05:40 PM

Quality Win vs. a Quality Team

Trent Edwards is getting better and better.

The defense figured out what went wrong vs. Arizona and seemed to fix it.

It was great to have a home game after a bye.

Now for those all-important divisional games.

Go Bills!!!

Number 6 10-19-2008 06:55 PM

Mylar baloons getting caught up in power lines. That's just like Orchard Park.
And I just watched the Jets lose in overtime to the Raiders. Now if the Broncos beat the Pats tomorrow, it will be a perfect weekend.
We get to go to Miami to squish the Fish next weekend.

handieman 10-19-2008 07:27 PM
