Good news. I read in today's paper that Rep. Rick Kriseman D-StPete has filed a proposed constitutional amendant to create a mechanism so voters could recall the governor or legislators.

How could it not pass when Gov Scott's approval rating hovers around 29%, meaning that 20% of the people who voted for him don't approve of the job he's doing? He's got the lowest approval rate of any governor in the country. Even Gov Scott Walker, who himself is in danger of being recalled, has higher numbers.

with those numbers he is head and shoulders above congress!

too bad his proposal that all welfare recipients be randomly tested for drugs was struck down by the liberal legislature. for a guy who is working for a salary of a penny a month i think we have had much worse.

I believe it was struck down by the courts after costing the state a great deal of money, and the legislature is ultra conservative.

It would be a surprise if very many people were surprised by this campaign to de-throne Scott. The fact is that the voters in Florida were offered two choices mopsy or flopsy. the real talented people are not coming forward

Chacha, how can you say that Rick Scott is a good man? Look back at the time he was CEO of Columbia/HCA and they defrauded Medicare of BILLIONS of dollars. They pled out the case and paid a record $1.4 Billion in fines.

Scott said, as CEO, he knew nothing about the fraud. Either a liar or just plain asleep at the desk. Which was it?

He has done a few good things as governor but still needs to be tossed out of office as he is owned by the NRA.

Every allegation you make here was widely known before his election, and he still won the election.

He can afford to work for that cuz he made millions bilking US taxpayers through Medicare fraud. :doh:

And how many millions of his own money did he spend to buy the election?

He supervised the largest medicare fraud case in the country, and then pleaded the fifth 57 times.

My favorite is when he wouldn't allow democrats to attend his budget signing in Lake Sumter Square. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it on TV and read about it in the paper. These fellow Villagers were being escorted off the property by the sheriff like common thugs. Is he the governor of all of Florida or just Lake Sumter Square? I can't believe this is the US of A in 2011. He made TV the laughing stock of the state.

Not really. It's not an uncommon thing either. Democrats regularly stock and then police their attendance in similar situations. Hillary Clinton for one. It's wasn't a news story on the day it happened let alone a wider story.

Your saying Hillary Clinton stocked her events as senator? I'm not talking about a campaign event, I'm talking about the state budget signing. And you know it wasn't a news story because you read the St Pete Times, Miami Herald, Orlando Sentinel, etc that day. Funny, I remember reading it in all those publications.

Wasn't it PT Barnum who said you can never go wrong underestimating the American public?

That's right; and sometimes that means overestimating the amount of b.s. the public will swallow when the opposition party is desperately trying to destroy a candidate whose positions you support with garbage unrelated to the problems at hand.

That's basically what happened in Florida in November 2010.

Just to keep this thread in perspective....there are SEVEN proposed ammendments on the ballot for 2012 including one on President Obama;s health care bill...there are TWENTY FOUR proposals in Tallahassee to get on the ballot, including the medical use of marijuana, allowing judges to not be forced to retire until 75, etc.

Why would any legislator vote for a bill that allows him/her to be recalled because remember the proposal includes "ability to recall state legislators, Cabinet members and the governor from office."

To me, this thread about a PROPOSAL to have a PROPOSAL that includes everyone in the state legislator is a bit overstated and a waste of time to discuss.

However, I believe this was begun simply to have another opportunity to trash the Governor, who as RICHIE has pointed out was elected despite having all his "warts" in public and who has made some tough decisions...many of which those who keep lecturing us about all the tough decisions we need to have made with the federal govt seem to not like at the state level. Welcome to what the country is going to be folks.

Lovefest? for what?; for who? There's been many different conversations here and it's constantly evolving.

The only thing not evolving is the blind allegiance to a failed icon by myopic liberals.

You do know that things are really just beginning. All the wrinkles are being shaken out and the table is about to be set. You act like you're ready for the check already. Relax, the meal is still being prepared.

The thing about slashing payouts and budgets is that everyone agrees it needs to be done but nobody seems to think the cuts will be something they care about. Then the wailing begins.
