Bonefish Grill

My wife and I ate at the Bonefish Grill on 466 tonight for the first time. It was about a 40 minute wait for a table at 6pm. We had a lovely time. For starters, we split a bowl of the corn chowder with lump crabmeat. Absolutely perfect!! Then we split the Bang Bang Shrimp appetizer.....delicious!!. For the entree, my wife had the orange roughy and I had the chilean sea bass. Both were done perfectly and we savored each bite. It was all accompanied by a Coppolla Chardonnay that was buttery and delicious. We ended it by splitting a creme brule that was to die for. Our waiter Jimmie was busy but managed to be friendly and personable. All in all a marvelous dinner.

Don't think there's anything else on the menu. Stop at them. WOW

Brostholder,
We've had the same great experience every time we've eaten there as well. BTW, their bang, bang shrimp and Chilean sea bass are my two favorite dishes there! :mmmm:

The best thing about living in Belvedere Village is that Bonefish Grill is a short cart ride away. Love their Sea Bass.

Did you know Bang-Bang Shrimp is half price on Wed night? You can imagine the lineups!

A premature welcome to a soon arriving frog.

We ate at Bone Fish Grill a few nights ago for my birthday and the meal was excellent. We had reservations and only had to wait for them to clear the table. I had mahi mahi which was excellent. I have had mahi mahi in many different restaurants from San Francisco to Palm Harbor/Clearwater/Tarpon Springs to the Villages. This Villages' Bonefish Grill's was by far the best I have had.

Had their Bang Bang Shrimp the last time we ate there for a family get-together and it was also very good.

mgjim 02-29-2012 07:30 PM

Is it possible to be both hungry and jealous at the same time?

I can't wait to try everything on the menu.:mmmm:

skyguy79 02-29-2012 08:06 PM

We ate at BF earlier this afternoon and we had mixed fellings about what we had, but I wouldn't say anything was bad. Just not to our taste. The Bang Bang Shrimp was delicious but a little more tangy that I normally care for. The corn and crab soup was also delicious. I can't tekk you what I had (from the specials) because I can't remember what it was called. I couldn't even pronounce it correctly and just pointed to in on the menu. I tried the Strawberry Shortcake special and there wasn't a single strawberry in it. Fortunately for me, I like the juice better than the actually strawberries in a shortcake. Would we go again? Sure, but not right away. With different selections for the entree, I'm sure we would have enjoyed it more than we had!

I think it is bam bam shrimp. It was hard to remember the name the next morning after that nice chardonnay.

Skybo 03-08-2012 07:46 AM

At Bonefish it’s Bang-Bang. There is a restaurant in TV with a Bam-Bam shrimp on the menu...can’t remember which one (maybe Redsauce?), but they are completely different and not nearly as good.

The Bonefish recipe for their Bang Bang Shrimp ... 'fairly simple but excellent.' If you want to make it lighter then bake@400 for about 20 minutes. I also prefer panko breadcrumbs for a lighter and crispier texture. Mix the sauce early and let the flavors blend.

Jhooman 03-08-2012 03:02 PM

My favorite restaurant in The Villages!

Laura 05-29-2012 01:03 PM

Bonefish is our absolute favorite restaurant. We used to go to Ocala before the Villages restaurant was built. So far, only one negative experience there with a waitress - but the food is ALWAYS excellent.

If You Like Bang Bang Shrimp

For Bang Bang shrimp without all the work, get Dinni's Spicy Shrimp Sauce. Follow the directions and you not be able to tell the difference from what you can buy at Bonefish. No knock on Bonefish, but when I needed 2 lbs for a party this was a lot more reasonably priced. Available at Amazon:[ame=http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_1_7?url=search-alias%3Dgrocery&field-keywords=dinni%27s+spicy+shrimp+sauce&sprefix=dinn i%27s%2Caps%2C204]Amazon.com: dinni's spicy shrimp sauce: Grocery & Gourmet Food[/ame]

Bonefish's is "Bang Bang" Shrimp. I think it is Lighthouse or The Pub (in Fiesta bowl) that has Bam Bam. Haven't had the imitations but Bonefish's is breaded fried shrimp tossed in a creamy spicy sauce that consists mostly of mayonnaise and chili sauce.

oldyeller 05-29-2012 02:59 PM

Best place in the area! What you do though is (if you are a party of two) put your name in for a table and sit at the bar tables and eat there. You get in much quicker and you meet some nice people.

P.S. For justanormalgirl, I believe its Bang Bang.

It is bang bang but I am confused...do you mean wait for your table with a drink? Why would you put your name in for a table and eat at the bar? Just wondering.

You could probably have a store special order it, like Fresh Market perhaps, but it would be the least expensive on Amazon.com and they ship it right to your door.

justjim 06-05-2012 02:46 PM

We have visited Bonefish three times. Food was average to above average but would not give it the "rave" reviews of many of the posts. Unfortunately, like many similar restaurants, they put too many people into a less than adequate space. Its noisy! The second time we went the waiter acted like he would rather be doing something else. I suppose he was just having a bad day. Overall, we prefer Nancy Lopez's over Bonefish.

Eve2278 06-05-2012 03:22 PM

Good Food

So glad you had a good meal. We've been there so many times, I have forgotten just how many. Never had a bad meal and always enjoy conversations with others that sit along the middle high top tables in front of the bar. Great area to mingle and employees are always nice!
