Don't install the windows 8 preview

I made this mistake, today, with my laptop. I assumed they would have a tutorial. NOT

I figured I can always delete it. NOT

The only way to get it off my computer is to run the recovery disk. GUESS WHAT!!

My recovery disk was for my old Windows Vista. I'd upgraded to Windows 7.

Why does Microsoft have to make everything so difficult???

l2ridehd 03-07-2012 03:59 PM

It's still a beta or pre-release version. I would not even consider installing it. I am still trying to get everything working right on Windows 7. And not in love with that.

Move to apple

Sounds like a Macintosh ad....

How do I remove Internet Explorer 8 from Windows as a troubleshooting step?

restore

If you have windows 7 you shouldn't need a disc, search "restore"

Thanks, everyone, for the tips. :bigbow:

Uninstall Internet Explorer 8

This link (as it states) uninstalls Internet Explorer 8 - this is a web browser.

The original post is about installing Windows 8 which is Microsoft's new operating system due to be released late this year (at the moment Windows 8 is available to test in beta form).

I really miss my XP.....not wild over Windows 7 either....even though I've had it for one year now.

Hubby decided to replace his so that we'd be on the same page (last year) and he hated it so much, he's back to using his oldest computer.

I wouldn't have changed at all except my hard drive totally crashed after 7 years, which is about the lifespan of HP computers, as per my own experience over the past twenty years or more.

P.S. BIG MISTAKE
I figured I'd help him out by finding instructions to delete Windows 8 from the computer.......I did find instructions for uninstalling it....but I think it was a "trick".......as soon as I went to copy and paste it, it began downloading Windows 8 on my computer. I shut down immediately....it had 97% to go.
I had also tried to PRINT IT OUT.....but that's when the download actually began...........luckily, no harm done.

Microsoft will stop security updates on XP and Office 2003 around April 2014.

I still have an XP machine but I am really enjoying Windows 7 on my laptop. Not sure why there is so much bashing of it. OK, I've said enough...

Installing Windows 8 was a mistake. Switching to Apple is just another one of those suggestions made from an agenda, but not solving your problem. If you haven't done it already, try *restoring* your computer to before you added Windows 8.

Look in All Programs/System Tools/System Restore -- And you might have to ask it to "show more restore points..." then follow the procedures.

If that doesn't help email me.
