Could be coming to an end....
Speaking of the Republican race. Heard that some of the powers of the party ....meaning those who can twist arms of others and make things happen...said they would not support Romney until he won a southern primary. Hearing he will win Mississippi and now we will see if the arms of the other candidates get twisted and how long they stay around. Usually given time to go out with some dignity but this might be the end.

Surprise!
Rick Santorum won both Mississippi and Alabama! :)
|
Why do so many not see that a vote for Santorum is a vote for Obama in Nov. I understand supporting pro-life and religious domination of America, but, find other ways to support those causes. Romney is the only possible chance to take the WH in Nov. Also, if you think Government is distracted from the economy now, Santorum will put us back 30 years and nothing will move at all. What a shame so many can't see the light. As much as I want Obama out, I will vote for him in Nov over Santorum. I may be the only one in America that feels that way, but I doubt it. 10's of thousands of voters will switch to Obama. Simple minded thinking is going to loose the race.

The last Republican Moderate who won the presidency was Richard Nixon. And we all know how that worked out. We need a true Conservative, aka not Romney to beat BHO.
|
Once again, look at statistics to see how Pres. Obama will win again.
Over 90% of African Americans will vote for Obama. Most Hispanics will vote for Obama. Most college educated women will vote for Obama. Most other minorities will vote for Obama. Registered Democrats will vote for Obama. Over 50% of Independents will vote for Obama. A large percentage of Republicans who think Santorum is too extreme will vote for Obama. This gives well over 55% of the electorate for President Obama. |

The world economy on the verge of collapse, two wars, and a Dow around 8,000 also helped. If that is "simple minded thinking" count me in. Some folks sure do have short memories. But, that's ok - so did Osama Bin Laden. |
There is not one Republican candidate that doesn't beat Obama hands down. So come November 6th my check mark goes along side the Republican candidate.

Well, you're close. There is not one Republican candidate that does beat Obama. Obama - 48.1, Romney - 44.3 Obama - 49.7, Sanitarium - 42.4 Obama - 51.0, Gingrich - 38.0 Obama - 47.6, Paul - 40.2 RealClearPolitics - President Obama vs. Republican Candidates |
Good one, Coralway. It is just fun to see these uber-conservatives sputter when someone brings facts to the table.

If your values are the hedonistic values, you going to vote for those closest to those values. I find it scary that people have been so brainwashed that they vote for an America that "will take care of them", instead of voting for the preservation of a country in which they're free to provide for themselves and live with self determination. That's the world of Obama, and that's the vote that is the most frightening to any true thinking free American. |
Chances are that you have or will have drawn out much more money in benefits than what you paid into Social Security. I was talking with a friend a few nights ago and he said his mother (age 94) has been getting Social Security since 1975 (34 years) at the rate of $1500 per month. That comes out to $666,000. Do you think that she contributed that much money into the system? It is a government benefit program. Would she have been happy at only being able to draw out what she and her employer had contributed? That would have run out many, many years ago.
Adjusting for the COLA's over the years, this lady would still have received well over $550,000 which is lots more than she and her employer contributed over the years. If not for the government, she would have run out of money being mailed to her every month many years ago. This is a government entitlement that I am sure she is glad to receive. |

Daily Presidential Tracking Poll - Rasmussen Reports™ |
To defeat President Obama, first you have to have a candidate. Apparently that's not going to happen until the republican convention at the end of Aug. After last night's debacle for Gov Romney and no one willing to exit the race, it's going to be a long, hot summer. See you in Tampa.

I just went to the government's CPI calculator - which is used as the basis for COLA increases. I plugged in $1500 for 2012 and calculated what that was worth in 1974 - and I got $326.25. Spot-checking, that means she got in some sample years: 2011 - $18,000 (12 x 1500) 2000 - $13,800 (12 x 1150) 1990 - $10,450 (12 x 871.57) 1980 - $6,600 (12 x $550) 1975 - $4,305 (12 x 358.76) Now, without calculating the raises in between those years, I cam up with a total of just under $155K - but that has the error of, for example, keeping the $13,800 value for the 10 years from 2001-2010 |

Good question actually...where did you get your numbers ? |

What are you talking about? I posted a link from RCP showing how Obama fares against the declared R candidates. Where did I mention Junior? You don't like the link to RCP? Or maybe you don't believe it? I couldn't care less whether you believe it or not. A better question is do you even read the postings you criticize? The responses you come up with make no sense whatsoever. |

Would love to have you actually discuss an issue....immigration...bail out....your choice but an issue PS...I only mentioned Bush because that is an ongoing and consistent item in your posts |
I did try to discuss the auto bail out with you, Bucco, but all I got was you saying you did not believe what I said because it was the Democrats line - even though it was Bush Jr. that began the bail out of the auto industry.
That is not discussion. |

What happened to all those who told me that I ABSOLUTELY HAD TO VOTE FOR GOP INSTEAD OF INDEPENDENT.... OR ELSE OBAMA WOULD WIN!?! That was their advice when it looked like Mitt Rino-Romney would be the candidate. Are they throwing their OWN advice out the window if Santorum is the GOP candidate? |

THAT's why I'm asking about it. I'm just curious as to where the numbers came from. |
