No current building at Mission Hills?
My husband said someone he played golf with told him all building had stopped at the new area at Morse and 466; Haciendas at Mission Hills.
It sounded like gossip to me and we just drove through there. I don't see any evidence of any new building starts. Anyone know anything about that? Jane will be there soon, she can tell us at Crispers. |
Investigator Bloom is on it....I texted my realtor as I do not know.

If construction has actually been halted (and I have no idea as I have not seen the area), hopefully its for a reason that has nothing to do with potential sinkhole issues. Maybe it's as simple as The Villages found they're not selling as fast as they hoped and there's too much inventory so they're slowing down. |
I am looking into it but no responses yet. I am not fearful. Yes we paid too much for the view (by the time we are finished I could have a premier home or close to it); and paid too much for a smaller home because of the view which we are now converting to a bigger home by changing the lanai to a Florida room and added that huge bird cage that we could all live in; and ripped out the new carpet they put in and changed it to wood floors; and, and, and. We bought because we love the spot it is located in, the magnificent view and now the additional view which we did not even know about of Live Oaks Park. I think the chances of a sinkhole are small but we bought insurance. Maybe we will have a hurricane. So many things can happen, we live in Earthquake country now and by the ocean so could have a tsunami. I am a betting woman, take me to othe casino, but I still love my Mission Hills lot, view and new home! We will find out why no more building, but if they stop building, I guess I can turn the empty space into an off leash dog park to complement the no dogs Live Oaks Park! See, everything can have a positive outcome, you just have to look at things in the positive mode!

I was talking to one of the subcontractors last week and he said his company was scheduled to start working in Mission Hills again this week. So far, though, I haven't seen any evidence this has happened. I know, not a lot of help, but at least it sounds like the plans are still on to keep building there.

Like Jane, I also just purchased in Mission Hills and LOVE IT!!!! My builder came by today and I asked him what was going on. He state that sales weren't as fast as originally thought, but now really picking up so they are starting 30 new homes next week.
|
To quote the text I got from my realtor " I truly do not know what you are referring to. We are selling homes in there every week. What are your concerns"?
So I emailed him back and reiterated the concerns of no building happening. Have not had another reply but sounds like from above and from what he said there are no problems, just a lull before construction picks up again. Will keep you posted if I hear more, we are doing my walk through Tuesday so I will have time with him to talk. |
I never looked into villas as my wife wanted a bigger designer home with a spacious lot, but do they just build all the villas as "spec homes", or do they sell lots, and the buyers get to build the model of villa home they want also.
If the latter is true, that may be a reason. |
I think they build the villas and you buy them. I do not know anyone who built their own villa.
|
Realtor texted me. Five villas sold yesterday. He has heard nothing about sink holes. And I just landed in Orlando!,,

I live in Mission Hills and do not know what all the worry is about the land is stable no holes and they have started to bring in the forms for the concrete walls their are too many chicken littles about this place. You will love your house here Jane.
|
Thanks. I was not personally worried. Just seeking facts so we know. I am here and do love it. What are all the millions of little bugs at my front doorbell I have to buy abhosebandnstrongbsprayer or a power washer. Ugh. There are tons of these little dead tiny bugs and they are on my garage too.

Hi all - I live in Mission Hills and saw heavy equipment entering today as well as workers etc - so it looks like the building of new homes is back on. Never had any worries - in fact - really don't care - I love it here (with or without more homes)!! JANE - so glad to hear you're in town - can't wait to meet!
|
Glad to hear the gossip I repeated isn't true.
Also so nice to meet Jane in person. Lovely, smart, fun girl! |
Great time at Crispers today. Thrilled to be in my neighborhood. Looking forward to meeting neighbors! Jane

bought a place in Fairwinds villas, we didn't really want to live in Mission Hills, but that's just our choice. Our builders said they were finishing our area ofg 80 or so villas and heading back to Mission Hills, so I'd guess it's going to be full speed ahead.
|
We talked to realtor a month ago and she told us that sales were not going as planned. She also said they had reduced prices there hoping sales would pick up.

We looked at homes in Mission Hills with a friend the other day and did not see any prices lower than when we bought in Dec. our realtor which have known for years was showing us.

I think the reason for the temporary cessation of building is just what another poster stated. I think that they have crews who concentrate on certain homes styles. The Designer crews, probably several of them and the Villas crews Ditto and the Premiers which I think is only one or two. They do one stint in an area and move to the next assigned. With Mission Hills they probably did a lot and then went to the other area of villas being built and now will go back again to Mission Hills. Some of the things we hear from non village realtors and even contractors are just what they heard from someone else and may or may not be the truth. I have heard so many bodacious things repeated on here that weren't anywhere near what happened eventually. We do love to talk and to type. You can remind ME of my number of posts. I am the worst one. |
[QUOTE=graciegirl;468198]I feel that whoever told you that was completely misinformed. I follow prices and there have been no drop in prices.

Bodacious... what a great word. Forgot all about that word. I love it. (from a former editor and English major.) |
