Golf is a gentlemans and women's game. Nothing about Tiger is gentleman like. Vulgar language, poor sportmanship when he hits a bad shot and of course the shame he brought to golf with the scandal.

I don't mind him being in the lead but there are other golfers playing and I would like to watch some of them play also.

Like the last two comments, It gets to a point all media does is focus on the last player to represent our great game of golf tiger woods

Good for him. He seems to have paid for his many mistakes. A lot of them seemed very private except for his being a role model. Too bad so much of celebrities private lives becomes public concern.

I changed stations as it once again ended up all being about tiger. The media is spoiling golf just as they have all other american sports

Sunday is always all about the leaders. They tee off last and what I saw today was media attention being given to the last three twosomes with emphasis on the final twosome which was significantly separated from the others by several strokes. I did not see undue attention being given to Tiger alone. Maybe my DirecTV broadcast was being filtered.

With Tiger being the only player in the last few groups that was under par on Sunday, the story just naturally morphed into his comeback. I thought there was plenty of coverage of the few players who could still make a charge, but as each one of them fell back, the coverage became more about Tiger because that was the story. I am just hoping for a very competitive Sunday at the Masters with Tiger, Rory, Phil and Luke all in the mix on the back nine. Of course, even though he isn't playing, I would never count out my all time favorite...Jack!

I have watched pro golf for years and the most popular, especially when they are winning get most of the air time. I think that is fair and balanced. Imagine giving equal air time to every player. That would be boring. It was the same 25 years ago. If you are upset that Tiger was in the spotlight on Sunday, I would look in the mirror to determine the real reason for your anger. He obviously has a few things that could upset folks like his race or marital problems, but he is the best I have ever watched and I truly enjoy his talent as a golfer.

Forgive me as I was not going to write on Wood's but I just could not
overlook the way people keep following him and praising him. He is not
the model for our youth and in particular the game of golf. He should be
ignored, regardless of his "golf talents" until and unless he works like
crazy to deserve some respect. Do you want your children to hold him
up as an example a great sportsman. He is actually a disgrace to the
game. I have seen him first hand at a number of tournaments including
the US Open (Wing Foot) and watched as some kids lined up for a
long time waiting for him to come off the 18th only to have him ignore
them and walk by. Never saw Arnie, Jack, Tom Watson, et al great
ones do that. He has not changed!! Lets get someone like Phil, BaBa,
etc as hero's and point to them as the true representatives of golf
so the kids get a better idea of what is really right with the sport.
It is a sport of gentlemen and he is certaintly not a gentleman..:bowdown:

There are many pro sports figures who do not set good examples and our children are watching them daily. I'm afraid if that we bring the pro's actions and personal lives into our enjoyment of the sports we would have to watch some pretty limited fields.

Like it or not Tiger has done a lot of good for golf and for charities. When he plays more people watch, and when more people watch more people profit.

The Problem
 

You are right. A lot of the sports are populated by bad examples like Tiger.
That does not make it right or acceptable. The sad part is that some portions
of society turn their back to anti social behavior in favor of who can hit a
ball further, more ofter or catch a ball, etc. Using charity as a reason is
poor as support for "paying" these people. Things are not going to change
but at least I can get it off my chest. :rant-rave:

What's "Right" vs what's "Acceptable"
 

Today's society is quick to point out what isn't right, but by example they choose to accept those same things.

He is truly a hero to 10's of thousands of kids and adults alike. He is not the first to focus 100% on his game while playing. His talent deserves respect and for me he has that. He who bla bla bla throw the first stone. Tiger is the best thing in golf since Arnie and his generation.
Tigers work with the Shriners hospitals for children has been a blessing to so many. He has several other charities and foundations that he donates to as well. Sorry if he is caught up in the game while playing and does not stop to chat with the kids on the side lines. ggggeeeeezzzzzzz.

Anyone Notice
 

One of the first to be critical of Wood and his disrepect for the game of
golf was Arnie. I notice that 15 minutes before Wood came off the 18th
hole to shake Arnie's hand he went to the Hospital for high blood pressure.
It is hard to believe he could not have waited 15 minutes and be photographed with this poor excuse of a sportman. It is the first time
he has not been waiting in all the prior years and he left 15 minutes ahead of time. I have grown a lot more respect for Arnie although there was a lot before this. I like to think he was just exhibiting what he has always stood for.:crap2:

Tiger Woods will never be in Arnie's or Jack's class and until he beats Jack's record for Major Tourney wins he can never be called the greatest golfer ever. And I don't see that happening.

I agree with the very first sentence it just ran a little long. It is true:
"Tiger Woods will never be in Arnies or Jack's class"...:wave:

Somehow I am reminded of Fuzzy Zoeller with these comments.

It is sad and painfully obvious why even in this day and age, some will not give Tiger Woods his due respect as the greatest golfer of all time.

Yep, I am saying it looks strange that Arnie never missed shaking hands
with the winner of his tournament. In this case he was a very strong
critic of Woods and in the end left the Tournament 15 minutes before Woods
walked off the 18th green. I don't think he wanted his picture in the paper with Woods or shaking hands with him Also, Arnie is responsible for raising the awareness of the PGA Tournaments. Remember "Arnie's Army". Maybe most are too young to remember this. Wood's is riding off the coat tail of
Arnie who brought the PGA Tournaments up to being popular. What the heck respect should he get. He has proven to be morally bankrupt and a character
study of all that is wrong with today's families and sports image for the youth. I am honestly amazed that anyone could hold him up as someone to
be respected. I have watched Jack stand with spectators so his son could
not see him watching him in the Honda Classic many years ago. That's a
father not one who is trapsing around porn stars and spending his time with them. Jack never missed one of his sons football games, never failed to sign
autographs, same as did Tom Watson, Ray Floyd, Ben Crenshaw, and many so ons'. All should be accountable for their behavior..:wave:

I believe that Tiger has already been held accountable. He paid dearly. Now move on. The holier than thou stuff is getting old. It is a rare individual, indeed, whose past is without blemish.

Agree. We all have good points and bad points. It is like the half full or half empty glass of water. Some among us prefer to focus on the half empty.

Still do not understand how you can claim him to be the best golfer of all time when he has not broken Jack's record for major wins. If and when he accomplishes that feat then maybe he can lay claim to that title but not before

OK, I give up..!! If some want to overlook bad behavior and antisocial
behavior nothing will convince them. If examples for the young is not
important then it is a useless cause.The next time they are at a Golf Tournament and there are 30 kids waiting with their caps for a signature and he [Wood's] ignores them and walks on by as though they don't exist be sure to cheer him on. (I saw this a number of times). I do not want this type
of person to be the image for my children. Hopefully their values will be
strong enough to look at him for what he is. barf

Tiger Woods does seem to have paid for his many misdeeds. Still bugs me how much some of us invest in celebrities personal lifes rather than just focusing on their professional lifes. It is sometimes very hard to seperate the two but with Mr. Woods it should not be that hard.

On another point, I doubt if that many parents though would ever hold up Tiger Woods as a role model after the scandal involving his sex addiction and its resulting many affairs.
