Do you really believe he has never had a lesson? That is incomprehensible. He played in college for 4 years and his coach never gave him instruction? I smell something fishy.:yuck:

I believe he is self taught and has a tremendous natural ability..He probably watched others and emulated their techniques to a certain extent..I did hear the commentators today remarking on his unorhtodox style and one even went so far as to say you can throw away the books after watching Bubba..He did nothing "right" ...that is except to win...

He's from Bagdad, Florida (look it up). How many instructors do you think work there? And how many golf instructors would create that swing? No, Bubba is Bubba, and he is a lot like a guy named Lee that never had an instructor either. As Lee once said: "Why listen to anyone who can't beat you?" :pepper2:

His father taught him basic grip and technique when he was ten years old. Hasn't have a lesson since. No swing coach; no psychologist accompanying him on the course, etc., makes you wonder about the necessity of all that stuff. ESPN says that Tiger Woods likes to practice with Bubba, as Tiger is amazed at what Bubba can make a golf ball do. Yesterday's Masters was a great day for golf.

I always thought that there was something a bit "weird" about him, but after seeing his emotional reaction and the congratulations of his peers, I have changed my mind. He seems like a refreshingly open and nice guy.

"I never did it that good" lol I didn't even know that was possible..at least on purpose...for me that's a helluva slice,I'm right handed...Now when they laugh at me on the course I'm gonna say I'm practicing my "bubba golf"...Got a new excuse..

This is a guy that has worked hard on his golf ediquitte. He WAS immature and somewhat of the a jerk on the golf course when he started on the tour. I give him credit for how far he has come. He credits the folks around him especially his caddy for setting him straight. It is fun to watch him play. I did not know if his putting stroke could hold up, but it did and yesterday will change his life. Great tournament and congrats to Bubba.

The only thing I did not see at the end was Watson shaking hands with Oosthuizen or his caddy. Bubba got so caught up in the moment it seemed he left 'Oosty' hanging. I could be wrong and might have missed it and of course it is explainable with the emotions, but still IMO he should have shaken hands with his competitors before Mom got to him or right after and I did not see that....

Bubba is the real deal... How refreshing to see him play. We love Phil but it was Bruce Bubba Watsons day!!!!!!!!!!!:wave:

He did leave Oosty hanging for a minute or so, but he definitely shook hands with him, and Oosty's caddie actually hugged Bubba.

Many of those pro's had some of he best coaches in the world and they did not play as well as bubba. So I don't care if he has or has not had a lesson(s) his play sunday was outstanding and that second shot to the green during the playoff was impeccable.

The Master's this year did well by golf and I for one am happy about how it all played out.

Commentators on the Golf Channel were saying that Augusta has the magic touch when it comes to the tournament. Their setup of the course, especially the back nine, seems to annually result in riveting finishes. This year was no exception. I thought Oosthuizen had the tournament in hand with those clutch par putts, but Bubba came through when he faltered.

I love the Masters, enjoyed watching it all. I remember when Phil won his first and the tears of joy and now Bubba. I was moved by his remark when asked did he ever think he would win The Masters...he replied "his dreams never went that far."

Congratulations, you made this Masters another one day to remember!

Just saw the golf channel and they devoted the entire show to talking with Bubba...He's the real deal that's for sure and his intensity(concentration) has been perceived as arrogance...I really think we have a new people's champion brewing here..
