Stumpknockers
Has anyone taken the boat ride from there and stayed to eat? How was it?
|
Great food
We have been there many times,, wonderful old gal that is a server,, one of those you feel lucky that she is part of your day... VERY reasonable... great quality,,, Is so nice to set outside after you eat and enjoy the music.
Have never done the boat ride,, just never had the desire... I would to hear from others bout that. STUMPKNOCKERS is one of our favorite places. only advise i could give ,, be careful going in and out when there... is a bit dangerous blind driveway. |
Thanks for your reply. I'll be sure to check it out and perhaps the boat rode as well!

The night we were there it was very crowded but the food was great and so was the atmosphere.

We took my sister and brother-in-law Easter. Did the 1 hour boat ride about 3 and then ate at Stumpknockers about 4:30. Mike, the skipper was very knowledgeable and it was a scenic ride. We saw a couple of gators and lots of birds! The river was very low and he said he probably would not be able to navigate much longer. Hopefully our recent rains helped with that. One hour was just right. I think any longer would be too long. We ate outside and enjoyed the restaurant. You will enjoy both!

I love their catfish dinner. I get the regular dinner for $9.99 but they also have an all you can eat catfish dinner for $11.99. It comes with cole slaw and fries (but you can subsitute at no extra cost). Very good food.

Appreciate the replies, and the one hour ride (where have I heard that before) sounds fun! It's a date!

Here's some info on the boat rides: Home of Lazy River Cruises Bill :) |
Have taken the boat ride and have dined there many times. My wife's favorite.
|
We ate at the one in Inverness and although the food was ok, the atmosphere does not compare to the one on the river!

The one in Dunnellon has the boat ride--it's right on the river. The one in Inverness is downtown.

Stumpknokers
Just ate at Stumpknokers this past Friday. The food was at best a 2 on a scale of 10. The shrimp scampi consisted of 6 small shrimp in a tasteless sauce. I had the broiled scallops (5 or six medium size) in again a boring sauce. I would nor recommend the drive of approx 25 miles to this restrauant.

Does anyone know if Stumpknockers has anything on the menu other than fish?
|
Stumps serves prime rib on Friday and Saturday nights. I can't get their web site to come up, but I am sure they have either rib steak or NY strip every night.
The fried shrimp is good, as are the scallops. Some always order the catfish. |
My wife's favorite is the frog legs. She fills up on them and then gets a carry-out order to take home.

Recently went to Stumpknockers for catfish. I guess it was one of those nights when the food was not as good as last spring----greasy and service was also below average. This was a "first" as we have been there several times before with excellent result. But any restaurant can have an "off night"----and we will go back another evening.

Went there once. Took the boat ride and ate dinner. Once was enough.

We went there last Thursday. EVERYTHING everyone had, catfish and salmon, was perfect. We had been there years ago when we lived in the Tampa Bay area and it was great back then. It's nice to see it is still doing well.
