You can go see one of the workers behind the desk at the regional recreation center closest to you. They will give you all of the paperwork and explain what you need to do.

Glad to hear it. I'm going to try to start a Beatles club. I played and sang in a Beatles tribute band and would like to get something going here. I would love to find other people who play instruments and are interested in playing and singing the music. But I also want it to be open to people who just want to come and listen and discuss trivia and Beatles lore.

How does one go about advertising something like this. I have to find out if there would be enough interest.

Tom Hannon 05-15-2012 02:25 PM

He was mi also. I'll never forget th day the music died

I am not a musician but a Beatle freak. I'd like to know more about your group

TOTV is a great start to getting word out on this club. The Thursday Recreations News section of the Villages Daily Sun lists Clubs in the Villages. That could give you more interest once you get started. The Virginia Trace website also lists various Clubs here in the Villages. VIRGINIA TRACE, THE VILLAGES, FLORIDA This would also increase exposure for your budding club.

Thanks. I know that I can get it listed in the rec newspaper once I've formed a club, but I need to figure out how to find people who are interested. Sounds like I have a couple right here. Can you put the word out and let me know if you have anyone else that is interested?

I wasn't into music that much in 1959. The cold day in December 1980 was the day MY music died. So sad.

Interesting that you mention that. The people across the street from me are from Clear Lake Iowa.

Of course the Beatles / Buddy Holly connection is great fodder for discussion. Has anyone ever seen the documentary that Paul McCartney made on the life of Buddy Holly?

Does anyone know how I can reduce the size of a photo? I tried to upload a pic for my avatar and the upload failed three times. I assume that the photo is too big.

As another poster suggested, talk to the rec director at a rec center. They have the info and can advise you how to determine if there is any interest. This is not something new to them............just look at all the clubs in TV.
Or, you can call the recreation department for more info.

I'm in. I cannot tell you how many Beatle tribute bands I have seen. A couple of trips to Abbey Road on the River will do that to you. Favorite is The Fab Four from LA and I had the pleasure to see and meet Tim Piper. Also there is Abbey Road Live from Atlanta. I can go on!

Tom Hannon 05-15-2012 08:19 PM

"My best Beatle tribute bands were "Twist and Shout" "The Tribute 1964." My problem with Tribute is the obvious, Not doing anything from the later years. What tribute is complete without "A Day In The Life?"

CaptJohn 05-15-2012 11:13 PM

Hey Tom,
Glad to hear you're doing better.
Our band used to do a lot of songs off Sgt. Pepper's.
I am you are he is they are.

Try Googling 'reduce jpg file size' (w/o quotes) - you'll get a number of results.

Bill :)

Ardy from the Fab Four is a friend of mine as is Don Butler, Tim Piper's guitarist. Both are really top shelf shows.

Yes. "The day the music died" had nothing to do with the Beatles. It was the day of the plane crash that killed Buddy Holly and others.

I am aware of that. Everyone know of the tragic plane crash in 1959 that took the lives of Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and The Big Bopper. When I stated the "Day the music died" it was my view of when my music died. I was a John Lennon freak and as far as I'm concerned,,, it was the day my music died.

No offense, Tom, I see your point

Ardy is really right-handed and learned to play the bass left-handed, no? Dedication there. Tim Piper is just the best Lennon show going although I like Ron McNeil as well.
