I am just throwing this out there:

How much would Mitt's chances increase if he chose Condoleezza Rice as his VP?

She is someone who I, personally, have always respected and feel that she would be a refreshing, intelligent addition to the White House.

That is a ticket I would probably vote for. I would also vote for Obama/Clinton ticket. Would I have to have an ID card to vote twice in The Villages? :1rotfl:

i agree that she would be a great asset to his campaign. experience, class, woman, and a counterweight to the racial issue. and i think most people would agree she would be capable to take over the presidency if necessary. i thought he should have selected her in 2008!

Haven't you expounded on Palin's great political skills and wonderful characteristics so many times on this forum and now you say that Condi Rice should have been picked? What gives?

Condi Rice is a very intelligent, accomplished, and personable woman, however her close ties with the Bush administration may be a bridge too far for Mitt Romney. I'm sticking with my pick of Rob Portman for VP. I don't think he'll help Romney that much in Ohio, but he seems to be someone respected by both sides of the aisle.

It will never happen. Rice is more moderate on foreign affairs. Romney's chief foreign affairs advisor is John Bolton, who is an ultra right wing hawk on foreign affairs. Never the twain shall meet.

Having said that, I'd sure be a whole lot happier with Rice advising Romney than Bolton.

I think Rice would be a good choice but I doubt it will happen cuz she has more stature than Romney. His ego probably couldn't accept that. :(

Condi is well liked but was not very effective as Secretary of State. Her record of failures will come back to haunt both Romney and her.

It does appear that Romney's choice of VP will get vetted more by both parties than did Obama himself

I love the 'vetting' obsession from the crowd that foisted Palin on us.

Rice could be a good choice for the Republicans. Not sure what the Tea Party would think of her though.

janmcn: You place too much credence with the spin doctors in Hollywood. The only real bad thing Palin did was scare the bejessus out of the liberal elite especially the female of the species because they could not reconcile such a well balanced feminist such as Palin. I mean how can you be a Type A and yet be a mother, a governor, a hunter, an athelete, religious, and an anti abortionist that not only talked the talk but walked the walk. And I top of all of that actually like men. Hmmmmmmm Guess Hollywood forgot to mention all of that when the filmed the Game Changer.

Do yourself one big favor. make a comparison of Obama to Palin as to accomplishments, associations, ideaology.

The myth is more fun than reality to the casual progressive.

Romney / Rice would be the "dream ticket". All right Rice / Romney would be the real "dream ticket". Was Sec. Clinton any more effective at State than Condi?

The biggest difference in accomplishments is: one ran for president and won by a landslide, the other one was foisted on the ticket and lost big time. The other big difference would be about 100 IQ points. I opine, you decide.

Janmcn, While I know Palin is much smarter than Obama I think 100 points is probably a little high. lol

Another question:

How much of that 95% (or whatever it is now) of African American voters would wind up voting for Romney/Rice because she is a Black Woman who would make history for two terms in a row of a Presidency?

I think we should compare their college transcripts.

Let's see, Sarah Palin attended five different colleges before receiving her B.S. in communications from the University of Idaho at age 24. She first attended the University of Hawaii-Hilo, then Hawaii Pacific University, then North Idaho College, next the University of Idaho, then Matanuska-Susitna Community College and lastly went back to University of Idaho to finish up her degree in 1987 after six years of college classes.

Barack Obama graduated from both Columbia University and Harvard Law School. He began his undergraduate degree at Occidental College in 1979 in Los Angeles but transferred to Columbia University after his sophomore year. He majored in political science with an emphasis in international relations and graduated from Columbia at age 19. In 1988 he entered Harvard Law School where he was awarded a Juris Doctor degree after serving as president of the prestigious Harvard Law Review.

Nah, 100 points is nowhere near enough.

I would love to see Sarah Palin attending Harvard. I would just love to see Sarah try to fill out the application to attend Harvard.

BTW: Sarah said, way back when, that if no conservative stepped forward to run for the presidency, she would be our girl. Can I look forward to seeing her name at the top of the ballot this November?

Obama's college transcripts are sealed, so I don't know what you think you might have proven with your analysis.

Also, college means squat in comparing intelligence.

It's really superficial to believe otherwise.

i was referring to the time before mccain won the nomination...at that time i had very little knowledge of sarah palin, although i had been impressed with a tv interview she had done as gov of alaska on the oil issue...before mccain, i was more for romney and thought rice would be the perfect pick... i still think she would be a good choice but there are many good possibilities.

First of all VK and Janmcn, I thought I made it obvious that I was trying to inject a little humor. However, as was stated, we don't have a clue what Obama's college grades are. Don't forget the Ivy League schools are famous for inflating grades. Also, when companies recruit college grads they don't just look at their grades. They look at the whole make-up of the person. I think Sarah could hold her own. She was crucified from day one. Obama was given a pass.

Yep, if I were interviewing someone for a job working for me, I guess I should conclude that the education provided at Matanuska-Susitana Community College and North Idaho College compared to Columbia and Harvard Law is only a "superficial" difference.

There are a lot of arguments that can be made supporting Sarah Palin's attractiveness as a political candidate, Richie. But trying to debate that she's more intelligent than Barack Obama isn't one I'd choose to try to differentiate between them.

If it could be accomplished I would bet any amount of money I could scrape up on Sarah Palin besting Barack Hussein Obama in any standardized intelligence test you could name.

My gut tells me I'm right, and just listening to the two of them in situations where they have no prepared text indicates to me I'm right.

Barack (uhhhh, errrrr, aahhhh, ummmm) Obama is a false god.

Let's think about it. If you were a drop-dead, very intelligent woman who had never had a chance to see the country - where would you choose to go with a scholarship to go to any college in the USA. I have no problem with her choosing Hawaii,Southern California or Florida. Where would you have gone under similar circumstances? Were you once young and even slightly irresponsible? I know I was. How about you?

VK: Instead of the preferred politically correct response I am going to offer a real honest to goodness direct response. How can one compare Obama's scholastic records, and for that matter his wife , because they both are sealed tighter than a space capsule. Gezzz wonder why? I have a nephew who scored perfect on the SAT's and was told when applying to Harvard to forget it because he told out right he was not a minority He was also being recruited with other universities for his baseball acumen. Do you suppose Obama's color and status as a foreign student had anything to do with his attending the above-referenced schools? Do you suppose the media is very protective of this affirmative action president because his failure is the failure of the liberal elite's social agenda? Do you suppose that Obama won the 2008 election because of mis-guided "white guilt"? Do you suppose that most of us, like me are not racist but yet recognize and are subjected at every turn to Obama and his cronies such as Holder throwing race into our faces? Worse yet he does his infamous juxtaposition and accuses people of racism by invoking the Professor Gates and Tray Martin's of the country.


P l e a s e. We are better than three years passed a recession not nearly matching the one Ronald Reagan faced and we are in worse shape now than ever thanks to Obama's mis-guided policies. Yet he has not once acknowledged accountability but passed blame onto Bush, Congress, ATM machines . Now that's his application of the skills of a post graduate education. You sir, in this instance, make the mistake of equating intelligence to be only acquired with an IVY League post graduate education. However there are many forms of intelligence . Keep in mind Jimmy Carter, God Bless his heart, had the highest IQ of any president and look what happened there? And least we forget the Rhodes Scholar Bubba Clinton our first true black president according to his claims...."but for" a Republican controlled Congress he would have sank this country.

Based on previous posts I view you as a very intelligent and well informed individual and for the life of me I am puzzled by your above-stated response, because Obama's failings are so apparent that if they were erectile quills he looked like a porcupine.

IMHO probably some, but not the majority as the vice president does not set policy. Rice might help Romney with two groups that he needs - African Americans and women. Now if he could just find a black, hispanic, lesbian woman, he could cover all the bases.

Quite possibly with regard to his admission to Columbia and Harvard. But ethnicity has little to do with admission to the Harvard Law School. And when the law faculty chooses the students who will write for the widely-read Harvard Law Review, I can guarantee that race had nothing to do with his selection.

Reagan's recession worse than the one faced by this administration when it took office. You must be kidding. Do a little more reading on that one.

Gas lines, and odd and even days to purchase fuel?,

Ronnie Reagan did not inherit an unjust war that ended up costing trillions of dollars and over 4,400 American lives based on LIES told by Junior Bush.

Havard Law School had affirmative action quotas also and to support their afirmative action agenda need to select minorities. I had to follow affirmative action programs as a HRD and believe you me corporation like universities don't implement them to fail.

As to Reagan v Obama Wall Stree showed a comparison before and after their financial programs took effect. Reagan before lower and after higher within three years. I will try and search out that article ran some 6 months ago.

Yeah, I'd like to see the research. But let's not forget the original purpose--a discussion of whether Sarah Palin or Barack Obama is more intelligent. I guess I don't think it's all that important to spend a lot of time researching that question one way or the other. One's the POTUS and running neck-and-neck with Mitt Romney for re-election. Palin has become a well-paid TV talking head and conservative activist, at least for the time being.

And Ronnie Reagan raised taxes seven times.
