How to remove tape residue from china?
 

Have packing tape residue stuck on my china. Looking for ways to remove tape without damaging the china

Goo-B-Gone. Available most anywhere.

Contractor's Solvent but I'd do a "test site". I've not had a problem anytime that I've used it on any surface but I've never used it on fine china.

WD-40 will dissolve the tape residue.

Another vote for Goo-B-Gone. I don't know how we ever survived without it. I tried most everything over the years including WD-40, which works pretty well, but there's nothing I've found as effective as Goo-B-Gone.

Let me "stick" in my vote for Goo Gone. It's great and even smells good. Get it Loew's

Peanut butter. Safe and effective. Apply peanut butter to any stick mess. Let sit for 5 minutes and wipe off. Sticky mess is gone. Google it.

Peanut butter will not harm china

WD-40, peanut butter, peanut oil, Pam cooking spray or just about anything oily like that. Rub it in and once all the yucky stuff is disolved, wipe it off and wash the dishes and you're good to go.

All of these work for pretty much the same reason .... the "oils" in each act as a solvent for the glue and at the same time prevent the soften glue from sticking to the surface of whatever it was on ..... it just wipes away!


BTW .... WD 40 is good for 1001 things ... but not one of them is as a lubricant!! It will actually remove any and all lubricants that might have been wherever you spray it. DO NOT use WD 40 as a straight lubricant.

For future reference...
This is not about china or glass, but the folks at Tervis Tumbler told me NOT to use Goo-B-Gone on Tervis. They said it would make the plastic cloudy. They said to use mayonnaise to remove adhesive from their tumblers and (with a lot of elbow grease) it worked. Maybe it took so long because I used low-fat mayo?

I thought people would just laugh when I suggested peanut butter. That's why I said to google it. Lots of info on removing gum from hair or caret using peanut butter. Glad you tried it and glad it worked. Lots of other great responses, too.

as the peanut butter it worked ok but didn't remove everything without scrubbing. went to goo gone and it worked without a lot of elbow grease.

You can get it in the dollar store for a buck. It's next to Kohls on 441.

window cleaner with amonia

goo gone is the safe way to go.

remove Tape glue from China
 

First I would put the China in the dish washer and run the dishwasher on Clean China. If there is still tape glue take a swab of cotton and rub fingernail polish remover on it or spray WD40 on it. That should remove the tape glue and then rewash by hand in soapy water and rinse. I had sticker glue stuck on my crystal glasses and the WD40 is what I used worked out fine. Good luck::wave:
