How many times a month do you eat pizza?
There is usually so much talk about pizza, where to buy it, which is best, which has best service, which is most like Chicago pizza or New York pizza that I am wondering how much you like pizza.
I love it but we don't have it too often, maybe once a month. It isn't because they don't have our favorites here; Donatos or LaRosa's both available in Cincinnati, we never had it more than about once a month up north. I don't know why. How often do you like pizza AND what is your absolute favorite? Include city and toppings. I am curious. Ours is Donatos thin with pepperoni that is crispy on top. |
Lou Malnati's - Chicago area chain - Lou pizza, thick crust, spinach and sliced tomatoes. :mmmm:
But I only order this about every 3 or 4 months as it ain't cheap. But it's sooooo goooood! Lou Malnati could make $$$$ if he or his family opened a restaurant in TV. :spoken: |
No pizza here in this rural area to crow about. An occasional slice of cheese pie with an antipasto on the side from Anthony's is the best out there. Now for the good stuff, Miss Sam makes a really tasty pie at home now and again. Pepperoni and sausage on my side, deluxe on hers.

To answer your question, Gracie - - - we have pizza maybe 1-2 times a month at various places. As long as the crust is somewhat thick, we're good.
Also, there's what I'd classify as a 'pizza derivative' - stromboli - that we have usually once a week at a local place called Clay's Cafe in Hebron, OH. Basically pizza dough with cheese, pepperoni, and sausage that's then rolled up, baked, and then basted with garlic butter. Those are their standard contents - they'll make it with whatever you'd like. Served with dipping/pizza sauce on the side. Good stuff - their signature item! Well worth the drive for anybody in greater central Ahia. Clay's Cafe web site link We're going on a motorcycle ride with some friends later today......and stopping at Clay's for dinner on the way back to the hacienda. Yum! Bill :) |
I love any pizza. But after loosing 78 pounds it isn't on the menu much any more. Five hundred calories per slice.
|
friday nite pizza is like a religion in our house and has been for years - please don't tell that to the totv food police here! you'd think we should call our pizza guy when we DON"T want a pizza!
always a thin, thin crispy crust - sometimes a plain cheese pie, sometimes with sausage and peppers, and sometimes a half sausage/peppers and half white pie with sliced tomatoes. [i just know the food police are gonna come after me now! ;)] |
Originally from NYC (me-Brookyn, Husband for Queens) Love NY style pizza. Haven't found anything exceptional down here. Enjoyed Bravo and Pauly's. Looking forward to trying Flippers. Usually we make our own pizza at home. Use fresh ingredients. Fresh tomatoes, garlic, spinach, basil and fresh mozzarella. Lots of fun. We make individual pizza's so we can each add any extra items that we like. Always different, always good. About 2 times a month now. Used to be a Friday night tradition when we lived in NY.

About four times a year. Onions, green peppers and we alternate either pepperoni or black olives as the third topping.
|
How often do we eat pizza? As often as my wife feels like making it but at least twice a month. We make both red and white thick and thin with or without anchovies round and square. My favorite is Neapolitian pizza simple but delicious and with a red wine Perfecto!

Pizza...Pizza....
How often ? 3 - 4 times a month :icon_hungry:
Neapolitan Style Toppings: sausage, pepperoni, anchovies, oregano...:icon_hungry: |
once a month and on the grill

Canale's . . . . . . Oswego, NY . . . . . OMG . . . . .
Had to give it up (and the snow) for the good life in TV. Send me a PM if you are sure you've found the best pie in TV. Just bought a cottage in Sanibel if there's anything close to there. A-4 |
Usually once a week.
remember: 7 Days without Pizza makes one weak. |
Pizza is a basic food group for me. My favorite is mushroom, onion and black olive. Don't eat it as much as I'd like to. Just had pizza tonight at Flippers. It was good. Cici's is not! Pauly's was good and I miss it. Belleview Pizza, I think for now, is my favorite. So, Gracie, what's yours?
|
My hubby and I have both tried to make homemade pizza. Our hangup is the "from scratch" crust. I prefer thin and crispy and he likes thick. However, we'll eat either one IF we had a good recipe for a tasty crust. Ours always turns out bland and the texture is not right. Anyone have a good pizza crust recipe to share?
|
Only have pizza on days that end with a y.
|
We eat pizza at least 3 times a month. Personally we like Papa John's Pizza. We order the meat with extra cheese. Price is good for a large.
|
Minimum of 3 times a week - cheese pizza. Used to be a mostly at Pauly's and Bravo. Been to Flippers twice and I love it. It also helped that I had "free pizza for life" at Pauly's before they went out of business. I was their first customer.
|
Every day if I could but once a week is the norm

flipflopz.... Publix sells fresh pizza dough in the bakery section(sometimes we have to ask for it). It's just a ball of dough....you roll it out, thick or thin. It' s pretty good. Publix also sells premade pizza crusts, like Boboli brand. I personally don't like them but it's an option if you dont want to make the crust from scratch.
|
Flip I have to agree with Cathy. Publix's pizza dough is pretty good and that's ALL I use when I make my pizza at home because in my eyes I MAKE THE BEST PIZZA down here lol

Let me first say I do own a restaurant here in the villages. However I DO NOT serve pizza. With that being said. Gracie, I use shredded mozzarella, Fresh shredded parmesan and the key is to brush on some extra virgin olive oil on the crust which helps make it a bit crispier. Of course you can add whatever topping you want on your pizza. I prefer Sausage and Pepperoni with some fresh pressed garlic. :icon_hungry:

How often ? 4-5 times a month I love PIZZA
Toppings: pepperoni, cheese |
I agree-- brush the dough with extra virgin olive oil to make it crispy. I use fresh buffalo mozzarella (from Fresh Market) or the shredded mozzarella and fresh shredded parmesan.
Also,Lions Den, you do have a Very Good restaurant. I'll come in soon. Maybe, since you make the BEST PIZZA at home, you should add it to your menu.......YEAH ! |
Living in Rome, we eat Pizza about 6 times per month.
Normally go to a small Mom and Pop type place with a wood burning pizza oven. |
Whole Wheat pizza with fresh mozzarrella, fresh ricotta and eggplant from Corato's on Metropolitan Avenue in Ridgewood, Queens, NYC. Haven't had a bite of pizza sice I got here, and seriously doubt that I ever will...

California Pizza
I have pizza very seldom because of the calories.:sigh:
but about once every 2 months I splurge and buy my favorite at Publix!! California White Pizza. (not as good as the real thing, but.. too much trouble to make for one person) Love their fabulous crust with spinach, sauce, parmesan, romano and mozzarella cheeses. Might sound wimpy, but I love it!!! I know I am missing out by not going to a pizza place which I, at one time, went many times. Any of you ever tried or eaten at a California pizza place? Yum |

You guys are too funny. :1rotfl: Quote:
I was in Chicago twice and loved the deep dish pizza. A lot of places in New York. Anthony's in Ft Lauderdale is very good. This comes from a person who never saw a pizza he didn't like. It has to be awful to be memorable. Then again, my taste buds are not very selective. :mmmm: |

we generally alternate between pizza and Chinese every Friday night.
Tonight we're getting something Italian, since my better half is not feeling up to going out. |

I got so full that my stomach hurt. It felt like a big lump of starch that I thought I would never digest. It was the only time I had pizza that year but it was one time too many. That's when I made up my mind I would never have pizza again. I kept my word and have no regrets. News Flash: We are not teenagers anymore. Statistics show that 9 out of ten seniors (age 65 and over) need to take at least one medication. By age 75, the average person takes 3 medications, and 5 or more is not uncommon. It was mentioned earlier that a slice of pizza has about 500 calories. Therefore, one slice will displace 500 calories of real food and two slices will displace 1,000 calories of real food. The bottom line: Except for a few serious genetic diseases, we pretty much get the health we deserve. |
