Gas prices

Gee, I haven't heard the Repubs blaming Obama for rising gas prices lately. Oh, that right, gas prices are going down.
Truth be known, Obama had very little, or nothing, to do with the prices rising or falling. But as with many things, the Repubs will grab any straw they can to disparage the POTUS.

Please Dale, please advise what administration of EITHER party did not have to deal with the gas price thing. Dem in the WH....got to deal with it.

Guest 06-22-2012 06:09 PM

we can give him as much credit for rising gas prices as we would give him for the falling gas prices......NONE!!!!!!!!

The issue is he has done nothing, NOTHING to establish initiatives to combat the eventual rise in the future as we continue to depend on foreign producers that do not have the status of the USA in their interest.

He gets a failing grade for not directing the country on programs resulting in energy independence.

He is lucky for the moment that the prices have gone down and the fickle Americans are fat and happy the gas is heading back to under $3 per gallon.

Nice try at at baiting the wrong issue though!!

No one has any money to buy any

Guest 06-22-2012 07:45 PM

Gas was less than $2 a gallon when The Amateur took office. I'm not celebrating the slight decline from it's high that due to Europe's troubles at this moment, and not anything accomplished by the aforementioned Amateur.

Don't Know

I don't know about that. The grandmother who was beaten up by a bunch of seventh graders on a school bus has gotten over a half million dollars in donations in less than two days. Lots of people not only have enough money nut are quite generous as well.

Guest 06-22-2012 08:05 PM

Yes, people do have money to buy gasoline and lots of other things, too.

I would like to thank all the people who donate food to the Christian Food Pantry in Lady Lake. Very generous people in The Villages. The summer months are the slow ones for donations, though, and the need continues.

Thanks for all your help both in food and cash donations.

Well, how about the weather in The Villages? There is a rumor that Obama caused the drought. Any truth to that? :(

I am very surprised that your POTUS has not yet called a press conference to publicly announce that falling gas prices are the direct result of his energy policies and that all credit for the savings to the public as a result of lower gas prices should be given to him - and him only. Actually, in this particular case, George Bush had absolutely nothing to do with the lower prices!!!

Unless you have left the country and denounced your citizenship, President Obama is your president also.

Guest 06-23-2012 08:13 AM

Wasn't that long ago when the Cons were assuring us that, because of Obama, gas would be in the 5-6 dollar a gallon range.

Unfortunately this is true. Fortunately I don't have much longer to wait for this to change.

Guest 06-23-2012 09:35 AM

as per usual, you have it wrong yet again.

Guest 06-23-2012 10:21 AM

I think it is appropriate to state he is the POTUS. There is no requirement to state he is an individuals POTUS......because for too many of us he is not!!!

Gas prices

Gas prices going down!!! lol that's funny!! Gas prices went from $1.84 to almost $3.75 under Obama. They have a very long way to go to get back to where they should be so don't get too excited. Funny how they start to decline when elections are around the corner and some think he had nothing to do with it. If that's the case why all of a sudden are they going down.? It's all temporary anyway. They will rise to 9.00 if Obama is re-elected just where he wants it. Exactly like EUROPE!! And then his next goal of course if for all of us to use mass transit. Keep relying on the government because they know so much more than you do.

Careful on your facts....the highest average price for regular gas was in July 2008 under George W Bush. $4.11 per gal. Yes it did drop for a while, but that is the nature of the market. The fact is the price of gas climbed through out Bushes tenure as President. Here is the link to the facts.

Gasoline prices are not due to which party is in office in the White House. The prices are rising and falling on the actions of speculators on Wall Street as well as demand and supply of oil.

If there are major storms in the Gulf of Mexico, oil prices will go up as supply may go down if the oil drilling platforms may have to close down for a while. If there are major tensions in the MidEast and one of the OPEC countries is involved, prices may rise due to the instability. When the euro currency is in major flux, prices may rise. When none is this is a major concern, prices will come down.

Oil companies have continued to make record profits - and still pay very little percentage of their profits in taxes.

This didn't help John McCain get elected, did it?
