I am so very picky, and this seafood.......

has the best I have ever had. The Lighthouse Seafood on 466 has the freshest seafood and the owner selling his product really knows his stuff. He only carries fish from the USA and all his seafood is fresh from that morning. We got the scallops and the shrimp. (I only eat haddock and scallops). Coming from New England I thought I would never eat good scallops again.

Wow, my husband and I couldn't believe how great our dinner was tonight because it was so fresh and the quality was so high. We will be back again and again, and I also ordered a key lime pie that is made by his mom from scratch that we will pick up at a later time.

By the way,my husband also tried an ice cream cone from the trailer in the parking lot closer to the farm stand. The homemade ice cream was absolutely delicious. Back home there are home made ice cream stands everywhere, and I miss that. Great to know that now we know there is a great place to go to when we want a quality ice cream cone.

Try the Lighthouse Seafood and put some seafood on the grill. You won't regret it. They are there Friday, Saturday, & Sunday from 1:00 to 5:30pm Their phone number is: 407-271-3432

KathieI 06-29-2012 05:53 PM

Thank you, that is sooo good to know. I pass by often but am a little leery of buying fish from the side of the road. I will try them. I eat fish every single day if I can, but I can't eat shell fish (allergy) so I will look forward to buying it from them. But can't promise about the ice cream, I am trying to take off some pounds I put on lately.

Nothing greater than a wonderful fish meal... ummmmmm.:icon_hungry:

raynan 06-29-2012 06:34 PM

Good to know. I'm dying for some fresh scallops. We're from MA also.

gomoho 06-29-2012 06:55 PM

have been by there but he's not there on the scheduled days - anyone know what happened?

We also got some seafood there, and agree with you that it is very fresh. AND, yes the scallops are delicious, and soft. He dosn't get there till after 1:00pm on days he is scheduled to be there. You can stop by, to get menu of fish he can get, or you can order fish ahead for a few days in advance. You might pay a little more, but FRESH is worth it!!

Can someone tell me where on 466 these places are located. I had to read it three times because I thought you meant the Lighthouse Restaurant at Sumter Landing, which has a delicious scallop basket with pineapple tartar sauce to die for. Anyway, back to the seafood and ice cream. Where exactly?

bk - on 466 between rolling acres rd and morse blvd - right between the fruit stand and the strip mall with paramount urgent care - back off the road under some sort of sun structure - just a truck with coolers.

Wrong Lighthouse they are talk'n about!! Lighthouse Seafood, where you can buy fresh seafood to take home. It's really quality!!

BarryRX 06-30-2012 06:27 AM

I have heard nothing but good stuff from my neighbors who buy his fish. One neighbor is from the Maryland shore and just raves about his stuff.

I agree that the Lighthouse truck offers an excellent selection of 'fresh' fish.

Pa & Giggi 06-30-2012 07:26 AM

To bkcunningham1 if you are comming from LSL over the bridge, when you reach the set of lights you will take a right. That is 466, and within 1 min after you drive by the buildings of businesses, you will see a farm stand surrounded by trees on your left. Lighthouse is to the left of the stand selling fruits and veggies and the ice cream is to the right of the farm stand towards the front of the building.
Once you stop by you will probably realize that you have driven by all along and just didn't know that this was a hidden gem.

PJOHNS2654 06-30-2012 07:42 AM

Are the scallops "dry"?

Pa & Giggi 06-30-2012 12:57 PM

Not sure what you mean by "dry". Our scallops were so moist I could have eaten more. My husband loved his shrimp too.

Can't wait to have another seafood dinner.

gomoho 06-30-2012 06:17 PM

FYI all you seafood lovers - he will not be there next weekend 'cause someone is taking vacation and he has to be at the store. Will return the following weekend and hopes to have an actual store in place starting with the floor in the fall. Good news, eh????

asianthree 06-30-2012 07:01 PM

Thanks for the info

Pturner 06-30-2012 07:07 PM

Thanks for the report, Pa and Giggi,
I would never have stopped there without a recommendation. We love fresh seafood and will check them out next time we are down. :mmmm:

If you look at the bag of scallops at Sams Club you will see that they are injected with water. The best scallops "Dry" have not been injected. On sale here 60 miles from Portland Me. $15.99 reg. $19.99.

Thank you very much for the information. My husband knew instantly as soon as I read him your post. We drove by there today. No ice cream on Sunday though. We had to settle for High Five Yogurt. (I wasn't impressed with the yogurt place to be honest.)

I agree that this is the best and freshest seafood around TV. I know it looks scary to buy seafood from a truck vendor but It comes from Lighthouse Seafood in Lake Mary. The vendor is very knowledgable and friendly. All of the fish is caught daily by spear fishers. They do carry frozen Chilean Seabass and Salmon and will be offering some frozen products made in their store in Lake Mary such as key lime pie, grouper cakes, crab stuffed potabello mushrooms and more. They will not be there next week but should resume the normal schedule after that. You may call for information and special orders at 407-271-3432..BTW, I don't think they catch the shrimp with tiny little spears. :-). It would be great if they do open a storefront here.

We have only been here 3 months but are Lighthouse regulars.

justjim 07-03-2012 03:39 PM

Ol' Jim, wife and some friends getting ready for some REAL fish. Crappie and Bluegill caught (not by me) this spring in the Midwest. Nothing better. But will have to try Lighthouse Seafood when we return to TV.

bkcunningham1 07-03-2012 05:26 PM

We are going to have to give it a try. When will they be back at 466?

When I rented in Mira Mesa last month I noticed Lighthouse Seafood when I drove on 466. I will be back in TV in October -- are they open year round, or just during certain times of the year? I may want to check them out in October. Thanks in advance.

rubicon 07-04-2012 05:54 AM

I am glad the OP took time to post because my wife and I stay clear of such vendors. My favorite fish are haddock, scallops shellfish halibut and cod. Hmm guess will stop by.

I also thought they meant the Lighthouse Restaurant on Lake Sumter Landing.......where we ate many many many times as the seafood was so delicious; we also felt we were transported back to a Maine seacoast vacation..........we brought our visitors there as well , eating out on the deck overlooking the lake..........it was really nice. But, we never saw a seafood truck on 466.

senior citizen -- if you check out post #13 on this thread, directions are given from LSL. It is on the north side of 466. If you are driving west on 466 and get to Morse Blvd., you have gone past Lighthouse Seafood's truck.

motorboatman 07-14-2012 12:38 PM

lighthouse seafood market will be open back up on july 20th,you can always call danny@407-271-3432
