Zimmerman thanks you.
I am sure all of you who sent in donations for George Zimmerman's legal defense will get a personal thank-you from George. He used the $100,000 for the fee for his $1,000,000 bond - and not for legal defense. Good for you, George.
|
I would think those that donated probably felt he was "pre-judged" (especially by media) before trial even began. We don't know the story and some probably feel it might turn into another OJ case with the right kind of jury.

Given that this incident had been politicized by opportunist for personal gain Zimmerman has placed at a disadvantage. He has been tried by public opinion and he has been a victim of the media which has intentionally misled its readers regarding the facts, statistics and legal tenets of this case so as to favor the deceased. So I can't fault zimmerman and his wife for protecting what assets they have and for wanting him out of jail.
so many highpowered people have committed perjury and nothing had happended to them. I don't admire the zimmerman's for this nor did I the others but I understand. As to the facts of tis case I hope the truth becomes the product of a trial but given the many breaches in our legal system and the failure of juries to execute their duties i question if this high profile trial will result in anything less than a failed legal process. |

hdh: I would challenge you in any of my postings about Zimmerman to show me anywhere where I said he was guilty of murder. I have said he was guilty of stupidity for ignoring a police directive of not to follow Martin instead of just calling the police and staying put in his car. I did say he was stupid for carrying a pistol that night. NEVER did I say he was guilty of murder, manslaughter or anything else. I would leave that up to a jury. I have said, and I say it again, I would bet that Zimmerman wishes that night never happened as his life will never be the same again - guilty or innocent. I totally agree about Sharpton and Jackson and Black Panthers being race baiting. They did their job and got a special investigator from the State to look into the case. |

I would be willing to bet that none of them have a problem with him posting bond with this money. |
George Zimmerman and his wife are now in the unenviable position of going in front of the same judge, who knows they lied about their finances, and convince him they are telling the truth. According to yesterday's newspaper, the judge is not too happy with them and would not have released Zimmerman, given a choice. The Zimmermans apparently thought they were smarter than the officials when they spoke in code and possibly planned an escape to another country.
Zimmerman will probably try to convince this judge he was "standing his ground", but recent cases have resulted in a 40 year sentence for a man in Texas and 35 years for a man in Tampa who tried that tack. |

Why is this and why was this posted in political ?
|
It is on the forum as it is news to be discussed and politcal is the place for it.

They can probably get a fair jury to hear this case though. Zimmerman's attorney looks very competent at looking out for his rights. |

I disagree. I believe everyone on the forum should have the right to read conflicting posts and be able to comment on them. Mr. Admin...what do you think? |

This particular subject has been the subject of a number of threads in the general are since it first took place.
Who made the decision that it belongs here ?? |

Great I have a story for you about a 73 year old Tampa woman who was fired by Walmart.....does that belong here ? http://www.tampabay.com/news/humanin...-years/1239018 I have some things to do now but will dump some more NEWS on here. By the way, the lady involved is 73 and a senior so this story has it all |
what I don't understand is those of you who are all puffed up about the courts (supreme that is) decisions recently are now finding reason to quarrel with another court's decisions.
If it is OK with you supporters to be here illegally, by the millions, how can you be so against the courts decisions made for Zimmerman? After all the law is the law and the laws not enforced is OK is it not? That's what all the chatter the past couple of weeks reflects. Pretty inconsistent....eh? btk |
Nobody is arguing that George Zimmerman should not get a fair trial, but lying to the judge, who will hear the case, about having $100,000 in cash and a passport is probably not a good starting point. Zimmerman's wife, who is charged with perjury, will have her first day in court next week and could also be charged with federal crimes since she was transferring the money in $9999.00 increments to avoid notifying the feds of these transactions. These two just seem a little too ethically challenged. According to today's newspaper, Judge Lester wrote "Under any definition, the defendant has flaunted the system".

Somebody probably put it on a well visited Facebook page. |

I don't know if that means anything, but there it is. |
Zimmerman posts belong on the political page. It is viewed by some as a racial thing, viewed by some as a conservative - liberal thing, viewed by some as our President should have gotten more involved or less involved. Ergo, it is a political thing.
I am of the leaning it is a judicial thing. A special investigator from Scott's office determined her finding that 2nd degree murder is the right charge for Zimmerman. Let's wait for the trial before trying him here. In the meantime, Zimmerman is going to be living a pretty good life on his contributor's money. |
so for some political is the catch all for ANYTHING that has a difference of opinion or disagreement?
Makes about as much sense as it did to have to register to view or participate in political. As if real life is so sanitized. Totally ridiculous!!!! btk |

Secondly, a bus monitor in rochester gets harassed by a bunch of little kids and donors contribute to the tune of some $700,000 so she can retire. Zimmerman is in the fight of and for his life, primarily because opportunist wanted to electrify this incident and you begrudge this guy the opportunity to have people help him financially. buggyone set aside your political bias and cut the guy a break. My only interest here is that this guy gets a fair trial but i am afraid that the liberal media has tried him found him guilty and sentenced him already. Ahouldn't happen in America but......... |
Fair Trials
There was the same fear about Anthony getting a fair trial, and because of the attitudes afterwards when the verdict did not fit their guilt mindset, look what it has caused for people who receive jury summons. No one should have to live in fear for doing his/her civic duty.
My only fear for a fair trial is based on what happened after the Anthony trial. Florida needs to rethink it's Sunshine Law and seal all evidence (not discovery to the attorneys) from the public until after trials. Then trials will be conducted in a court of law, not the media. |

Secondly, the bus monitor is just another crazy thing that is only possible with viral videos overtaking common sense. I do not have political bias about Zimmerman. Only thing I know he is guilty of is bad judgement at this point. I am sure he would agree right now. |

Unfortunately, there is only one verbal side to this story and it is filled with inconsistencies. |
