Unfriendly Villager?
Saw a young gal and her father driving on Colony Blvd. toward Morse in a rental golf cart. The car behind him passed him, stopped, got out of his car and pointed to the parking lot explaining it was a place to turn around before coming to Morse. They still proceeded to Morse, then stopped. We were behind them, so pulled alongside and offered the same advice thinking they may have misunderstood. In return, they yelled at us that they'd already been yelled at and they WERE turning around. Now, neither of us were doing anything but being friendly Villagers. These newbies definitely need to be here to chill. Hope they found their way.

Don't know why, but that's a really cranky area. I'm always getting yelled at over there.

I agree people need to chill or they need to go back from where they came....Ha Ha I have a problem with people in such a hurry. Stopped at a light and it no sooner turns green people at honking there horns. Why such the hurry and give someone a chance to take there foot off the brake and put it on the gas.

maybe not a villager just a vistor

Maybe just having a bad day? Haven't you all?

It's not only "irritating", but it's NERVE WRACKING enough to cause the victim of the yelling to have a wreck. Honest TV residents would admit it takes weeks and possibly months to feel comfortable navigating the streets, tunnels, diamond lanes, and multi-modal paths on a golf cart here. Give the visitors and newbies a break! |
Wow
I feel for both. On my second trip to TV I ended up driving a golf cart through a round-a bout- very scary...just didn't know it was coming. I bet the whole thing just flustered the golf cart driver enough that it made him nervous and maybe a little irritable? plus he had the added responsibility of a youngster in the cart and also want to not look like not in control in front of them.
On the other hand, I think you did the right thing informing them. You can live with your conscience. How they respond is totally their choice. You know the spirit you meant it in....to save an accident...looking out for someone else. |

Been there. Done all that & worse. All newbies need time and some extra patience from the Old Timers. chilout

My wife and I also did the same (rental golf cart thru a round-a-bout) but a guy quickly showed me where to get back on the golf cart path. I have been driving in the Atlanta area for over 25 years and if I had been here they would have been giving me the hand signs using one finger.

my guess is almost all of us here have had someone tell you that you were doing it wrong at least once

Oops when carting to Sumter
We have lived in Sanibel for 2 1/2 months. The other night we decided to take our cart to Sumter. It was only our second time going there via golf cart. I must admit, I think they should label the cart paths and tunnels with signs that say "this way to Sumpter Landing" or " this way to Spanish Springs". There are some signs but not many directing a person to the squares. Anyway, we neglected to take the proper tunnel and ended up going on a golf course. We quickly realized we'd made a mistake as well as a golfer telling us this wasn't a cart path. The attendant from the starter booth also came out and directed us properly. We were pretty embarrassed. It does take some getting use to when carting around TV. It would sure be nice if the paths were marked more clearly.
