All the Chick-fil-a stores here are being overwhelmed with support. Here is a photo from just one of our 4 stores in Montgomery.

Or NOT!!
Or, choose NOT to support hatred and bigotry.:)

My wife and I dropped by Chick-fil-a on 441 and people were standing in line under their umbrellas.
Thursday is suppose to bring the protesters think I'll stop by after my work out Supporting Chick-fil-a is supporting everyone's Constitutional rights |
Sorry, NO support here
Sorry, no support here, what's wrong with everyone just learning to accept all people, enough is enough! I could care less what Cathy believes in, and his beliefs should just be that...his...NOT imposed on others to create such drama. Clearly he forgets the part in the Bible about loving one another. Sad Cathy that you wish to use your business to speak out against others, shame on you frankly!

5 Major cities support Equality, not Chick Fil A
BIGOTRY Unwelcome in 5 Major Cities
This week, mayors of Boston, Chicago and San Francisco warned Chick-fil-A and its CEO Dan Cathy, who’s been an outspoken opponent of same-sex marriage, not to pursue new franchises in their cities. Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl said he shares his fellow mayors’ concerns and would consider trying to block the chain as well. Philadelphia City Councilman James Kenney sent a letter to Cathy, telling him to "take a hike and take your intolerance with you" and vowing to introduce a resolution at the next council meeting condemning the company. In a letter to the editor of an Illinois newspaper the following was written today: "Regarding the Chick- fil-A uproar: As someone who has been discriminated against because of my orientation, it would be hypocritical to support discrimination against a company for the sole reason of expressing a position based on belief. As long as Chick-fil-A has open hiring practices and honors legislation that recognizes laws honoring gay rights, we absolutely should not keep them from doing business or withhold building permits." "Our country honors freedom of faith. It goes against everything our country was built upon. How can any of us learn from one another and grow if we are discouraged to express our beliefs in a public venue?" The letter to the editor concludes by saying: "I appreciate the sentiment of these actions, but not the action. Let us fight this battle fairly and honestly without discrimination. Haven't we had enough of that?" Another perspective on the Chick-fil-A issue. Personally, I wonder just who these mayors think they are??? Dictator's??? :boxing2: |
So now I have to worry about the religious or political affiliation of my food! I wonder if my Big Mac is pro gun or anti gun. Is my Wendy's classic double for Obamacare? (If it gets supersized, maybe it should be). How about 5 guys hamburgers....that sounds pretty gay! I have another suggestion.....why doesn't everyone just hush!

"Which part of the First Amendment does (Boston Mayor) Menino not understand? A business owner’s political or religious beliefs should not be a test for the worthiness of his or her application for a business license," the Boston Globe complained in a July 25 editorial. "History will render judgment on the views of Chick-fil-A executives. City Hall doesn’t have to," the editorial board concluding, having noted that there's no evidence that Chick-fil-A breaks any anti-discrimination laws.....

What again does Obama have to do with this issue? This is a slippery slope right to the political forum.
|
Yes, this should be in the political forum
I did request that this be moved to the political forum earlier this afternoon but it didn't happen, so I jumped in. But I agree it does belong there.
I always like to hear people defending everyone's first amendment rights. I think of people like the owner of Chick Fil A as I think of the KKK. Although their beliefs are based on hate and bigotry, they have the same basic rights as everyone else. But in situations where people have a legal option to allow or disallow bigotry, I can understand people pursuing legal avenues to disallow it. |

Don't twist my words around or take out of context
Don't twist my words around or take them out of context. I see the owner of chick fil a as I see the KKK in that their beliefs are based on hatred and bigotry. That is what I said, and what I meant. I can see why people don't want to be in the political forum. Such exaggeration.

WOW, for comments like "hatred and bigotry" (from another post) and especially "KKK" tells how far we need to come as a people to express an issue or a view without such bitterness. If I want a red golf cart and you hate red. . . does that mean you hate me for liking red? Where's the logic? My apologies to all for starting this mess. :ohdear: |
Yes, let's end it
Yes, let's end it. Glad that you do not want it to be political. As for logic - if a couple wants the right to legally marry and you don't want that, does that make you a bigot? I would say yes. Just MHO.
Some may have interpreted the title of your Thread "Support Chick Fil A Day" as a request to do just that. |

It does not appear that Mr. Cathy is the bigot here.

This is where I think the media & many people are missing the point. It's not about gay or guns or religion or vegan or body piercings or abortion !! It's about the freedon to believe what you want, and to do your business without what you believe being interfered with by politicians. We're all running around with little thoughts in our heads and it shouldn't matter to you, me or the next guy where I live, what I buy or do business. |

Why is it that some of the worst people in world history though were the loudest proclaimers that they knew what God was saying? The owner of Chick-Fil-a must think he has a personal conduit to God that none of us others do. One thing I like about both Obama and Romney, neither of them seems to think they have God's ear. Or, at least, that they are the only ones who can hear him. |

Let's look at some facts about Chick-Fil-a: It's the least expensive yet hardest franchise to obtain. To become a new franchise operator costs only $5,000. This is a major contrast to the $500,000 to several million for most fast food franchises. No betting the family fortune and an income is guaranteed. Less than one percent of the franchise applicants are accepted. The screening process is rigorous. Total number of franchises and franchise annual income growth are above industry average. Sales per square foot are among industry highest despite the closed on Sunday policy. Turnover of staff - one of the best indicators of a company's overall quality, are the lowest in the industry. Franchise operators have a turnover of less than 5% per year. Hourly employees have a turnover of 60% per year which is approximately half the industry average. Pay and benefits are slightly better than other companies in the industry, but the big difference is the closed on Sundays policy. The people like knowing they will be able to plan for activities on one day each week and scheduling will not interfere. In summary, Chick-Fil-a is a highly successful company with very high charitable givings, a good product and a great place to work. Seems like everything one could ask of a good corporate citizen. |

I cannot see some CEO/owner of Chick-Fil-A speaking for what God wants with respect to gay marriage. And, this has nothing to do with Chick-Fil-A's accounting practices, franchising, profitability margin, patents, management style, etc. Good article on the gay re-action to Cathy's statement. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/walt-h...617.html?flv=1 |
