Oklahoma to Fernandina
 

My wife and I are moving from Oklahoma to Fernandina the first of September after several years of looking at TV. We both recently retired and are looking forward to enjoying the lifestyle in TV. We are a little overwhelmed by the things to get involved in so we plan to start slowly. Any suggestions other than golf?

Which section?

Get out on a golf cart trail, pull over in the grass, open up a map and start looking at it. Within 5 minutes you'll meet your 10 new best friends. People are amazing.

TV has the largest softball league in America, over 2500 players. I hadn't played since 1980 and now we are in a 3 week break between the summer season that just ended and the fall season, and I already miss playing.

The neighborhood leagues are good because it's only one day a week on Saturdays. You get to use the aluminum bats instead of the more lively Micah bats that are used on weekday rec leagues and the level of play is little on the lesser side. Not that we aren't just as intense, but every team has players of different levels and you learn to compensate for them.

When we get moved in I will check out the softball leagues. Thanks.

When do you move in?

We bought a cottage in Sanibel in March and after 3 trips down from Tennessee, reserved 206 - 142 in July. Now we're for sale up here and will get on the design schedule when we're under contract . . . . . soon I hope. We'll put everything in storage and live in the cottage until a Zinnia can be built. What do you have or are you getting??

The Villages puts out a weekly catalog of all the clubs and classes in TV -- I believe this is published every Thursday. Also look into classes taught at the Lifelong Learning College.

We chose the Bridgeport. Barbara are excited about the move but dreading the unpacking.

LOL.....the unpacking is a rite of passage here in TV....and WELCOME! Believe me, the unpacking will actually be fun, well for a little bit anyway....:D.
The Bridgeport is a lovely home, I know you'll enjoy it.

We just returned tonight from a trip down to The Villages and it was all we could do to make ourselves get on that plane! We bought a lot last month in Fernandina 206, Lot 20, just from pictures our agent sent. We could not wait to go down and check it out in person and we love the lot and the neighborhood! It's going to be a great location to be! We met so many nice people in our area and we can't wait to join them! We will be building a Begonia next summer! Building is happening so fast, the new country club, the regional recreation center all look they are coming together!
Skyhawk, I took some pictures standing on your lot in all directions so you can see how things are coming! I will try and send those to you tomorrow if I can figure out how.

Glad you had a GREAT trip. It must have been exciting to see your property in person. Cathy and I thought your location was a good one. Did you meet "Bing" a couple of doors over? I don't know if you noticed but every lot on your side of the street is sold now all the way from Pinellas. And every lot on the east side of Lafayette St is also sold. I look forward to the pictures. When we go back down in October I'll return the favor.
