Two Questions....!!??
Was out and about earlier today....would anyone know why the flags are at 1/2 mast over by the high school? Also, what is going on with all the earth moving equipment by the high school? It looks like a serious project that's taking place. Haven't seen anything in the paper about either of these.

you only get 1 question

Well...only one question answered so looking for info on the 2nd one. What's going in next to the high school complex?? It's very large and looks to be a serious "build". They haven't taken down the fence that surrounds it neither.

I saw that job. That's a lot of dirt!! If I had to guess, I'd say it's some sort of drainage improvement project. There's a lot of concrete drainage structures sitting out there.

We saw the construction happening on the Charter School Campus and guessed it was another school. We are growing and so is the community of people working for The Villages and their kids have the right to attend the fine Charter schools here. So, maybe another elementary school?
|
Wish all kids would have the right to attend a fine private school like that.

I am so proud of our Charter schools. |
I, too, am proud of our charter schools, and in actuality, they are public schools, p&j, sometimes called schools of choice. It's always amazing to me that here, in a community of retirees, we have schools, I LOVE IT!
Since I've veered off topic, I want to remember Neil Armstrong with a big smile. His famous walk on the moon is something I'll never forget. RIP Neil. |

This whole issue is one of my passions too. I think we may be moving close to um....issues that start with a P. |

Maybe if this discussion is to continue, we should start another thread since we are now discussion something totally unrelated to the original question. |
Indeed...........some of the best schools in the country are public schools! :-)

I asked one of the surveyers this morning and he said it was a school for 4th and 5th graders. The workers are working 12 hour days and are working at least on Saturday. I did not ask about Sunday.

Elevatorman is correct. It is a new building for the 4th and 5 graders to attend. Will be open in Aug when school starts. $$$$ donated by the Morse family.

Um... well, many public schools with open enrollment are successful because parents and grandparents are involved and work hard to make them better. Many people will plan their lives to be able to move to an area with good schools for their kids. They work hard and save to provide those opportunities.
We have had our kids in both private schools and public schools. It is up to the parent to decide where to place their child and if they feel education is a priority then they do what they have to to get that education whether it means working for a company that has a quality charter school, or moving to a district that has a great school system, or forgoing vacations or even dinners out. Bravo to TV to build this school to attract smart employees who value education. |

Due to continued growth of The Villages retirement community and the wonderful new businesses serving the residents, The Villages company has announced that The Villages Charter School will be expanding soon. Plans are under way to expand grade level enrollment capacity from 200 to approximately 270. To accommodate this growth, the following additions are planned: * Four classroom addition to The Villages Early Childhood Center * Eight classroom addition to The Villages Elementary School Primary Center * New 24 classroom school to house fourth & fifth grades (this new school will be located on the current Tatonka fields area) * Four classroom remodel to The Villages High School http://tvcs.org/pdfadmin/sendpdf.pdf...9FA55D5C5BC%7D |
