What's the Number 1 thing you LOVE about The Villages

I was reading posts and I noticed there were 941 replies to what you don't like about The Villages. I'd like to know what is the Number 1 thing you LOVE MOST about The Villages. I'll start. Mine is I get to LIVE there. 6 weeks to go. :)

ilovetv 09-07-2012 11:05 AM

All the fun, interesting and educational things to do without having to leave TV and go to some other town/city where you'd pay to do all these things, at a hefty price for lesser quality/quantity/variety.

I agree. What Ilovetv said.:pepper2:

CaptJohn 09-07-2012 11:27 AM

I would say all the musical entertainment and many other things to do, especially the large number of hobby club activities.

Madelaine Amee 09-07-2012 11:28 AM

What do I LOVE about living in TV

Just being able to wake up here each morning ........................

graciegirl 09-07-2012 11:33 AM

The cleanliness, the fresh paintedness, the kept up with things look, the beauty and whimsy of the place and the flowers and trees and plants and the beautiful people, inside and out.

stuckinparadise 09-07-2012 11:45 AM

I agree with Graciegirl, TV has the most beautiful landscaping and I get choked up every time we drive into the property. We can't wait to become permanent residents.

Skybo 09-07-2012 11:47 AM

It's too hard to pick just one thing. There are several things I love about TV that are all equal in importance to me. So I'll just throw out the one thing that I especially love this time of year: I'm not bummed out that winter is coming. Hopefully we will have another mild winter, but even if we don't, the "cold" won't last long and it will have very little effect on my daily activities.

A-4 Skyhawk 09-07-2012 11:47 AM

I love reading all of the posts in TOTV of people who are so excited about reaching a milestone in getting to TV. Whether it's selling where they are, getting a design date, starting construction, or MOVING IN. You can just feel their joy and enthusiasm in what they write.
(wish my _____ house would sell)

jimbo2012 09-07-2012 11:58 AM

Extreme organization, the layout/master plan, # of activities, learning ctr.

The cost of living is very reasonable, we also feel that if we change our minds in few years we can sell out fast with the demand in this market, as in low investment risk.

The fact you can buy here for as low as 60K to an average of 200K.

The build time of 60-70 days is amazing.

This forum is a factor also.

Good neighbors.

Old neighbors in Palm Harbor, FL-- at least on one side-- were tenants of a criminal defense lawyer. So, we got the Coast Guard helicopter pilot who buzzed the house looking for men looking for love in all the wrong places; the pit bull trainer/breeder who dragged his pits outside to get them to run and brought the animal rights activists to our street; the fugitives from some kind of pyramid scheme victims; etc.

It looks like you got, and enjoy, "normal" neighbors here!

The cold ?
How cold does it get.
I live in Monticello IL
I get real cold, hope to make it to TV with in 5

The Question was what ONE thing……..
My answer, the display of pride of ownership is second to none and is displayed in all villages.

The #1 thing to us..........EVERYBODY is in TV for the same reason: To have fun and enjoy their lives!

Bill :)

villages07 09-07-2012 02:02 PM

There are many things... Beauty, warmth, good people, golf, Pickleball, and on and on.

But the one really cool unique thing about the Villages for me is Golf cart living.:gc:

Barefoot 09-07-2012 02:33 PM

The :eclipsee_gold_cup: thing that we love about TV is the fact that it is a dog friendly community. We bought in TV because the Developer allows two pets per household, with no size restrictions. :doggie::doggie: We were even allowed to bring our dogs on our Lifestyle Preview.

Please don't throw rotten tomatoes and make this into a dog thread. I just had to mention it because it's the reason we bought in TV rather than by the ocean.

You beat me to it, I am almost never in my car when in TV. In addition, I cannot think of another community where you hop in your cart to take a ride around the "hood" on a warm evening and come back 90 plus minutes later and never see the same place twice....

gomoho 09-07-2012 02:53 PM

That it has exceeded my expectations, the beauty all around, the friendly people, golf, the cost of living here, the fact you can actually find people who are willing to work - show up on time - usually do the work for a fair price, access to shopping by car or cart, pride of ownership most people show, and the fact it's in Florida!!!

Illinois - doesn't get close to what you know about cold - not to worry.

logdog 09-07-2012 03:29 PM

Number one is golf cart living. After 30 years in the military living all over the USA and many parts of the world, this community is like nothing else we've experienced. I can get in my cart and drive 10 minutes or less to free entertainment, free golf, shopping, inexpensive eats, etc. And I can pull over on the golf cart trails and just sit back and watch the gators, sandhill cranes or a sunset without someone honking at me to keep moving. We've been here full time for almost 3 years and still feel like tourists on vacation.

Every morning I have a little ritual. At the crack of dawn, I walk out onto our driveway to pick up the newspaper. Then, I look to my left and to the right, and I thank my lucky stars that I am here in The Villages. I live on a wonderful street and can't imagine living anywhere else. That is my moment of solitude before I begin my day. I am Blessed.

jpharmat 09-07-2012 06:24 PM

Many reasons to love TV.

#1. I have to say that I purchased the house with my father, with the intent to have Dad live here and eventually pass on (many years down the road)... however just 5 months into Dads life in TV he developed lung cancer and less than 2 years later passed away... I have never met a nicer bunch of strangers/friends that came to his aid in TV, taking him (a virtual unknown to anyone... although everyone was a newbie in our village) to his multiple medical appts., checking in on him and keeping me up to date on his condition while I was up here in Ma. I would have never found such caring, unselfish people here in Ma.

#2. Safety.. I am able to walk all over TV with a sense of security.

3#. In TV you have so many people from different areas of the country, coming from different life styles and socio-economic backgrounds who interact beautifuly with each other, all enjoying what TV has to offer.

I could go on and on.... can't wait till I am able to enjoy TV full time!

The special feeling you get when you enter the "bubble" and realize that this is the best place to enjoy your retirement in a lifestyle that is amazing.

collie1228 09-07-2012 07:06 PM

What Gracie said, plus our neighbors. We rented in our neighborhood, and after only one week in the rental, we knew this was the place for us. The neighbors took us in, both golfing wise and socially. Now we will be frogs in less than two weeks. No more snowy winters for us!

asianthree 09-07-2012 07:27 PM

i can run at 3am and feel safe, except for the gator in the pond i run by, the bird that drive bombs me everytime i pass his corner, and the black bear that may or may not be rambling around;)

Thnonne 09-07-2012 09:16 PM

The thing I love best about the Villages is that I am on vacation everyday in nice weather with all my friends and neighbors.

ssmith 09-07-2012 09:29 PM

not there yet but....

the ambiance....it is just something in the air. People are friendly and happy and have time and work hard at play and rest!!!! the weather is warm and nice, the place is kept well...all of it is ambience to me!!!!

To my husband....there is nothing like seeing the joy on his face when he drives a golf cart!!!!

Didiwinbob 09-07-2012 10:07 PM

I feel safe

I love the way I feel when I am here. My wife says I am different person while here. It is the one place where I feel like I can truly relax....

jebartle 09-08-2012 05:02 AM

I can only have one reason?????

I love love love jumping in our little cart for our evening ride down to the square and on to the pet park so our dachshund can check out the dogs..

2 Oldcrabs 09-08-2012 05:51 AM

Safe

This is true. We lived in Reno, NV from around 1969 through 1983. I was away though at the University of Denver from June 1982 through June 1983 getting a M.A. in Librarianship and Information Management.

Lots of rather odd ducks in Reno, NV for neighbors. Had a guy who was a NV National Guard fighter jet jockey/lawyer for a neighbor who kept stuff interesting. He became a General at the Pentagon. Thankfully, he never buzzed the house looking for guys searching for love in all the wrong places like the Coast Guard helicopter pilot in Palm Harbor. Not even sure I ever saw the Palm Harbor neighbor's wife. The couple kept to themselves as did pretty much all of the tenants of the criminal defense lawyer.
