I'm 53 when I get to my midlife I will let you know if I have a crisis

eweissenbach 09-09-2012 06:32 PM

Hard to admit, when in my 50s I couldn't decide between paper or plastic.

Nope - I actually believe I am getting better - yes, older, but more important better! Loving my 60's and looking forward to what's ahead.

Nothing so far. I may not be to my mid life yet. Or I could be in it if I live to be 140.

We'll see what happens, ya never know.

By one definition I read, midlife crisis is experienced between the ages of 40 and 60. According to Jung it is a normal part of the maturing process. It was about age 45 that both my wife and I changed jobs and moved a couple hundred miles from where we had raised our family. It started out as an "economic move" but also became an unexpected change in our lifestyle with adventure and excitement. It was the best move we ever made. Was it a midlife crisis? Don't know----- but it was a maturing process with its ups and downs for sure. The other big change came when we retired. Retirement has been very exciting and this time we moved twelve hundred miles and it has been an even bigger adventure. Who says teenage marriages don't work? Some of our very best friends got married young and they, along with us, have been married 50 years. Someone once said, "you can't stay young forever but you can be immature for the rest of your life." Crisis and change comes to all of us but its how we respond that makes all the difference.

Yup at age 41, a misdiagnosis medical, became a school teacher (had certifications) closed lucrative business, 22 years later I gave it up and went back to business as a mentor. I really never liked teaching, biggest mistake I ever made.

Now I am happy and rebuilding the life I had before and moving to The Villages as soon as this business quarter is over. I learned a lot, now using it for the mentoring concept I have but still I wish I had never done it.

Mid-Life Crisis - you must be kidding. Never had time for all the things we had to do, let alone have a mid-life crisis!

For those who haven't had one and are wondering what it's like, think of a "Mid-life Crisis" as a "State Of The Union Address". Only instead of it being yearly in front of Congress, you just have it once at midlife (by yourself in front of your bathroom mirror).

You report to yourself on the condition of your wretched life. You outline your agenda and household priorities for the future.

1) New car

2) New house

3) New job

4) New spouse

5) Lose weight

My mid-life crisis, if you consider it a crisis, was a tattoo (pair of wings with USN in the center), a bad Mustang GT, then a badder Mustang GT, and now an outrageously bad ass Camaro SS Bumble Bee. These cars are going to put me in the poor house.:cryin2:

billethkid 09-11-2012 08:07 AM

is it a bad thing to not have had one?

Maybe I haven't hit mid life yet!!:D

Me neither. Must be a case of arrested development.

My mid-life crisis

When my mid-life crisis hit I couldn't afford to buy the mustang car that I wanted so I got a tattoo. It involves a purple rose, four-leaf clover, a heart, and quarter part of a moon. Then I moved to the villages and bought a pre-loved mustang convertible. Life is good. :BigApplause:

Let's not forget the birth crisis. Babies come into this world crying.
