Now I have seen everything

The other day I saw a woman walking up our street with witih a stroller, the type that a lot of villagers use to walk their small dogs. Being a dog owner and loving to see new little ones I was attracted to see what the stroller contained. To my suprise it wasn't a dog or cat. It was a huge white duck. This duck stood up as I approached the stroller and happily started quacking.

Too funny!

That's a cute story. To each his own....

The only time we've seen a pooch in a stroller was in South Dakota at the Crazy Horse Monument.........and again inside the building where all the Lakota Sioux Indians were selling their books and jewelry, handcrafts, dream catchers, etc.

All heads would turn when this gentleman walked around with his dog in a stroller. Never seen anything like that. Maybe the dog was injured or crippled???

mfp509 09-10-2012 11:53 AM

A duck! How cool is that!!

GeoGeo 09-10-2012 12:34 PM

Funny. Thanks for sharing that. I guess that's one way to get your duck some fresh air. Was that in The Villages? Can't say I know of many (non-farm) people with a pet duck.....let alone in a stroller.

GeoGeo 09-10-2012 12:38 PM

Doesn't have anything to do with your duck story....just recalled something happened to me once. Many, many years ago there was a pick-up truck a ways ahead of me. In the bed of the pickup was this girl with the most amazing long flowing hair that was blowing in the wind. I was so jealous. Her hair was so beautiful. Then she turned sideways...it was a dog. I got a good laugh out of that one. But she did have nice hair.

Yes, in the village of Mallory

Well, I got a quack out of that post.

gomoho 09-10-2012 03:55 PM

At least the duck won't "foul" anyone's grass while on his walk!

jblum315 09-10-2012 04:43 PM

I thought the restrictions said no animal pets except dogs and cats (no chickens, pigs, lambs etc.)

Bogie Shooter 09-10-2012 04:49 PM

What do duck droppings (poop) to to grass??

skyguy79 09-10-2012 04:53 PM

I think we got a few quackers on this thread. (especially me) Anyway, I was led to believe that you haven't seen everything until you've seen an elephant fly! (also known as... "Look out below!")

Geewiz 09-10-2012 05:10 PM

The word is that it is a retired AFLAC duck.

Darn, I was just gonna say that.

"AaaaFLAC"

gomoho 09-10-2012 05:42 PM

Oh no, I have a pig with wings sitting on my window sill above the sink - oh yes they do fly.

I love this story, too funny! I think the restrictions stipulate "two domestic animals" per household. I guess if a duck enjoys stroller rides, and quacks hello to people, then he's probably domesticated.

I am sorry, but owning a duck is not all that it's quacked up to be...... <g>

Like that one.

I believe I saw an elephant fly in some Mel Gibson movie. It was helped along by a Sikorski.

gomoho 09-10-2012 06:40 PM

How lucky are we too be so frivolous??? Life is good in TV.

i don't see duck?

justjim 09-10-2012 07:40 PM

Okay, as long as its not quacking in my back yard!

paulandjean 09-11-2012 06:36 AM

Do not think you can have a duck here.Noy sure that I would want one living next door...

Barefoot 09-11-2012 11:49 AM

Wikepedia lists Water Buffalo as a domesticated animal. Suddenly a duck doesn't sound so bad!i

well, sure, cows and horses and pigs and goats and some ducks are all domesticated animals. Doesn't mean you can keep them in your backyard.

I agree, the intention of the covenants is obviously dogs, cats and birds. And perhaps an occasional quacker.

My dad worked with a fellow at the bank who owned a house-broken 'indoor' duck. The people put newspapers in a litterbox in the garage, and the duck would tap on the garage door when he needed to go use the litterbox. You'd have to see it to believe it, but it's true! :)

dmorhome 09-11-2012 04:30 PM

was its name Donald

No lie....I had a friend that had a "house duck" too! When she picked it up it would lay its neck & head on her shoulder!! Who would of thunk it!!!

shcisamax 09-11-2012 07:04 PM

I think this thread is just Duckie.

Once upon a time dogs and cats were wild and not domesticated. Perhaps this duck is at the forefront of ducks evolving in household pets. The only down side I can see to ducks being domesticated is trying to pick up their poop; now that's a slippery subject that should get a lot of fowl play on TOTV.

Still will not beat the women,in her cart eating ice cream. One lick for her one lick for the dog, this went on until the cone was gone. She sat across from the square. I was waiting for the white coats to come..........................

A dogs mouth has less germs than a human mouth. May be better than sharing with relatives.

What a strange comment. You do not think that a women licks her ice cream cone then her dog is not strange. Do not believe in a minute that a dogs mouth has less germs. old wives tale.

Gotta love TOTV. We morphed from a thread about a happy duck quacking in a carriage, to a discussion of dog germs. Those darn dogs are at it again! :a20:

We had two pet ducks when I was 2 and we lived in Madison, Ohio. They would waddle a few blocks down to Lake Erie and come back up at dinnertime and peck at the garage door till my mother fed them. This was according to my mother, and I think she made that up.

I picked mine up by the neck and it was choking, and I brought it inside to my mother, claiming something was wrong with my duck. She gave it mouth-to-mouth and saved it. I'm thinking she made that up too. We did have the ducks, though--there're pictures.

My girlfriend had a pet skunk named Oscar. Of course he was "defragranced". He was an affectionate little guy. I've also known people who had pot-bellied pigs. Very smart. They're all God's creatures.

My roommate in college had a pet Raccoon at her home named Charlie! Charlie was trained to use the toilet AND flush. No joke. I stayed at her house many times and was witness to it. Pretty smart fella!! Her Dad was a vet and they got Charlie after a car accident where the offender stopped, picked him up and brought him in. They nursed him back to health in their home and the rest is history!

A few years ago my husband and I were heading across the country and we were staying in a RV park in Charleston. While sitting outside we noticed a couple walking their goat on a leash, at that point we thought we had seen everything. Later my husband went over to talk with them and yes, the goat was their pet, he went everywhere with them, lived in their 5th wheel, rode in the back seat of the truck and was house trained.
