Used to love Saturday Night Live...
...but now about 50% of the skits seem to fall flat. Do you still find SNL funny? Relevant?
|
Boooooooooooooo (thumbs down)
|
The "original" SNL - John Belushi, Gilda Radner, Dan Akroyd, Garrett Morris, Bill Murray, Loraine Newman, Jane Curtin and Chevy Chase came on when I was in high school. That was SNL at it's height, although there have been a few SNL standouts since then -- Eddie Murphy, Phil Hartman, Kristin Wiig and Dana Carvey come to mind. Just my 2 cents.

...we stopped watching SNL about 30 years ago...not funny.
|
same here
Just like we ( my hubbie and I) can not get Conan O Brien's humor....guess we are getting old.... |
same here

I think it is all about age. My kids (late 20s early 30s) think it is halarious. Sometimes it gets a little raunchy but I can remember my parents asking us how can we watch this crap! If I can stay up late on Saturday I think the opening of SNL is funny and also the 'news'.
|
I still enjoy SNL. The political satires and News Update segments are always funny and sometimes thought provoking. Also like the musical guests.
|
We watch once or twice a month. I still like the impersonations and news reports. Yes, the skits just fizzle at the end. Hate most of the entertainers.
|
Not the same
I don't find it funny at all. I keep waiting for the punchline that never comes. And yes, I agree, the skits just go on and on and on . . .
There's just no beating the original cast and humor. |
Ain't nothing like the real thing baby !

Favorite SNL Skits
My list of favorite SNL skits include: Belushi as the Samarai, Steve Martin and Dan Ackroyd in the Czech Brothers (two wild and crazy guys), Gilda Radner as Lisa Loopner, Chevy Chase as President Ford, Eddie Murphy as Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood, Ackroyd and Jane Curtin in the takeoff on Point Counterpoint, Bill Murray as the bowling alley lounge singer, Dana Carvey and Michael Myers in Wayne's World, Chevy Chase as Land Shark, Ackroyd, Curtin, and Laraine Newman as The Coneheads, Gilda Radner as Roseanne Roseannadanna, Ackroyd and Belushi in Olympia Restaurant (cheeseburger, cheeseburger, cheeseburger), Dana Carvey as the Church Lady, and The Blues Brothers. I'm sure I'm leaving out some great ones, but these pop into my mind as making me laugh out loud.

James Bond's Daniel Craig w Muse; Christina Applegate w Passion Pit then Bruno Mars.
Next three hosts musical guests on Saturday Night Live-- Daniel Craig and Muse Oct 6, 2012; Christina Applegate and Passion Pit Oct 13, 2012; and Bruno Mars, Oct 20, 2012. I am usually asleep or reading by this time of the night 11:29 Saturdays. So, I DVR SNL.
Mars is both the musical guest and host. Cannot say I have ever seen Mr. Craig do comedy. It should be interesting. |

October 6's Saturday Night Live had some good bits. Really liked Craig's opening monologue about the characters he has played in James Bond movies as well as others and their many kills.
The celebrity impersonations of could have been James Bond girls was also funny-- Diane Keaton, Jody Foster, Ellen Degeneres, Lea Michele, etc. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...ight-Live.html Some of the skits though do seem quite awkward. |
