Citizens First Mortgage Rate?

Has anyone had a recent mortgage rate quote from Citizens?

I called about the current rates about 10 days ago... they said that they were extremely busy and that they would have someone call me back within 48 hrs... (let's see 10 days x 24 hrs/day = 240 hrs) Still waiting.

swrinfla 10-03-2012 02:15 PM

I'm about to close on a refinance at 3.75%, lots better than my original (Jan '05) 6.5%!

Don't know whether that's still current or not.

Latest rate we we were quoted was 3.125 on a refi...

laceylady 10-03-2012 03:08 PM

citizens will definitely be higher. There is another on Parr dr. Or ave? In the VilLages that is always lower. They are Community back I believe. I wish we had used them instead of Citizens.

I closed on a new patio villa on 9/7/12 and the rate was 3.75%.

ladydoc 10-03-2012 06:00 PM

refi

Got email today that 30 yr is 3.5 and 15 is 3.125

Lbmb24101 10-03-2012 07:57 PM

When we closed in Aug 2012, Citizens quoted 3.6 and WFargo quoted 3.5
The guy in citzns said:
" we aren't as big as Wf We can not match a big bank's rate"
DO shop around, my advise.

tag460 10-03-2012 08:13 PM

We went with BB&t, very pleased with the service and the lowest rate we found anywhere here in the TV 2.75 for a 15 fixed.

Sleeper 10-03-2012 08:46 PM

Like Citizen...always returned email and calls. Talked with loan officer number of times between April and present...locked into 3.625, 60 days ago. We are happy.

Bbt

BBT is doing a great job and works to earn your business. I would think they are worth talking to as they are growing in the area .

We had a mortgage about 8 years ago which we've since paid off. At the time, Citizens was about 1/2 percentage point higher than other financial institutions. We got our mortgage by shopping online. All paperworks was handled in a timely manner, and and I had a telephone number of a person for the bank (might have been Wells Fargo, just can't remember) who was great at coordinating the details and always responded to calls and emails. I would recommend not going with Citizens.

Geewiz 10-04-2012 07:09 AM

3.5% for 30 as of yesterday

Yes, 3.75. We closed on 09/19. Others are a little less, but we feared "others" not getting the paperwork done on time for the closing, or a hurricane, or somthing keeping them from being ready on time. It would have cost us $20,000 not to close on the date The Villages chose for closing! BTW, the rumor is that Citizens has NEVER missed a closing due to some glitch on their end. See you soon! Jan and Steve

Rosie53 10-05-2012 10:20 AM

You must be excited about your move! We will definitely call when we get down.

keithwand 10-05-2012 10:44 AM

Citizens all the way. Anthony at LSL was great, closing was on time (actually we closed early) and all went very smoothly.

So the rate may be a little higher.

Bet everyone qualifies and the new built homes appraise 100% of the time.

jmemc46 10-05-2012 11:19 AM

closing 10/26, 30 fixed 3.5%

I totally agree with you about closing on time. Since I was doing everything long distance via fax, e-mail, FedEx, I didn't want to take any chances. I figured they probably have the mortgages in over half of those in TV, I felt comfortable that things would go smoothly. It was well worth an extra 1/4%to me personally. Everything went without a glitch and I don't have a single regret.

Good luck to those contemplating a purchase.

An additional .25% on a 30 year loan for $200,000 would cost a little over $10,000 over the life of the loan.

Thanks for the math lesson; however, I still have no regrets for a number of reasons. I can pay it off, thus avoiding the $10,000, or I'll die before I've paid the extra $10,000. No matter as I said before I did the best for me personally.

jimbo2012 10-05-2012 09:17 PM

200K 1/4 point, or less than $1 a day.

Yep - recipe to own a yacht and a few jets etc. 20,000 mortgages @ $1 a day = $7.3 million per year added to the bottom line. just sayin

mickey100 10-06-2012 04:20 PM

Everyone's different. I hear many people go with Citizens because they think things will go more smoothly and they worry about time constraints. As I said, we went with a different company and had absolutely no issues at all, and saved that extra 1/2 percent. There is no way I'd be handing over an extra $10,000 over the life of a loan to a bank (and ultimately to the Morses) if I could help it.

Also went with BB&T. Their rates were much lower than Citizens when I was shopping. (1/4 % as i recall with lower closing costs) Citizens also like a poster said did not return calls and when they finally did they told me they can not quote rates but would make an appointment in 3 days to discuss them. They were "very busy", but they would be "competitive" with others rates. They told me they have 7 to 8 out of 10 of the mortgages in TV. I think most is due to their scare tactics by design team closing people and in your contract that if you don't close on the specified date that it says in the contract, than you pay huge fees. BB&T had no issues with closing on time and tells me they rarely do.

My design team person on my first house even told me he would not go out of his way to accomodate another bank in handling the closing of my house on time. In spite of his lack of cooperation, SunTrust closed on time without a hitch.

keithwand 10-08-2012 02:53 PM

We need the tax deductions so OK if the Morses get another yacht or plane.

salpal 10-08-2012 08:01 PM

it's posted on their web site

I would think that some how the design team gets some kind of kick back, if their bank gets the loan.

jimbo2012 10-09-2012 06:53 AM

I'm sure (sales/design) they do, but so does a car dealer for example.

As long as the cost is same it really doesn't matter does it?

batman911 10-09-2012 11:44 AM

I'm pretty sure that the reason they will not quote a rate over the telephone is that they need to check your credit score before they can provide the rate. The higher your credit score, the lower the loan rate. Using Citizens make life much less stressful, especially if you are not living in TV before your home is built.

jimbo2012 10-09-2012 11:48 AM

I was there last week, they gave me a rate of 3.5%, without running any credit, didn't want extra inquires.

Same with BB&T and Amercs

No problem

BobnBev 10-09-2012 01:09 PM

Just closed on a 15 yr new mortgage @ 3.125

upinmaine 10-09-2012 04:02 PM

Buying a new home and just locked into a 15 year at 3.0% at Citizen. My dealings have been simple, easy, polite, professional, and friendly. They never sell their mortages and the loan is serviced locally. My kind of bank.

Suzi 10-10-2012 11:32 AM

I've been watching posts with interest because we should be buying very, very soon. I am not familiar with the BB&T. Citizens I've heard of. Thanks

Foxmd 11-17-2012 07:16 AM

I am mortgage shopping. Citizens first rates seem high. Can anyone recommend a local bank that provides loans and good rates and service?
