Looking for a groomer

Just moving to The Villages, Ponincia! And need to find a groomer. I have a 5lb Yorkie. Any suggestions?

We have been using Laura with Tails Waggin in Belleview for 6 years. She is wonderful and I just called her to find out her price for your Yorkie and she told me $25. Most all the places in TV charge a lot more than this price. Her number is 307-2543. We usually take our Roxi about 8:00, go to breakfast in Belleview at Mary's Place, then pick her up around 10:00.

I use Theresa's Waggin Wheels. Comes right to your house. Phone number is 352-409-0300.

We use Bone Crazy on 466A just west of the Government Center on the right hand side. Very clean facility. They do a great job. Our little shih-tzu actually likes going there.

Thanks! Just the info I needed.

I second Theresa's Waggin Wheels. My little guy gets so stressed and she calms him right down. She is so gentle and calm and just great.

We also use Bone Crazy on 466A. Do a wonderful job on our Goldendoodle. I used Dan at Buffalo Ridge only once and had a bad experience.

Is there a particular groomer that you like at Bone Crazy, or is it just one person? I'm looking for a big-dog groomer who can do a nice sanitary cut and keep the paws cut tightly and neat. I havent found that yet here, but we haven't been here long enough to try too many different places.

Also... do they hand-dry or cage-dry?

Just a suggestion - why don't your learn to groom your Yorkie yourself? Doesn't require a lot of equipment and it becomes a great pleasure for you and the dog. I used to groom our two standard poodles myself. You can find a how-to book. You can get tips from the breeder if you bought the Yorkie from a breeder. There is not a whole lot to groom on a 5-lb. Yorkie!

There is also a class on grooming at the Lifelong Learning College. It's listed in the current catalog, which you can find online here.

Great idea. Will check into that once I settle in.

We just used Tails Waggin in Belleview based on the recommendation of Mike and Nancy. Good job & excellent prices for our 10 lb Biggins and our 70 lb Lollipop.

Bare,
What was the charge for your Lollipop? We have been using the groomer at Pet Lodge and Spa in Leesburg, next to Home Depot. A complete grooming, including summer cut, for our golden (85#) is $65, but you get a whole day of stay & play free, which is a $10 value. Croz likes it there, so we drop him off in tha am and use the free time for shopping in Winterpark or somewhere.

I forget the groomer's name, but I like what she does.

That sounds like a great price in Leesburg. I find that once we venture off the reservation, prices go down a lot. It's the price of convenience. But our primary goal is finding a groomer who listens.

We've had charges in TV from $70 to $110 for Lollipop. She is a big girl. And Biggins usually costs at least $40. Laura in Belleview charged $50 for Lollipop and $25 for Biggins. Laura followed our instructions and did a fine job.

Lady Lake Dog Grooming on 441, right past Auto Zone. Jackie is a show groomer and does a show cut on my Cocker that is , well, show quality!
