Solar tubes

Solar Guys did mine, Kitchen counter , guest bath , and laundry room, they are FABULOUS.........
You can shave without turning on a light, I'm thinking seriously about putting one over my work bench.....should I ever need it..:22yikes:.

A brighter Fumar.

We had two solar tubes installed on Wednesday, in kitchen and master bath. Less than two hours start to finish. Work by the Solar Guys. Best investment we have made at this point. Extremely pleased to say the least. We have to remind ourselves that we did not leave the light on the master bath!!

Solar Tubes

The Solar Guys---call them and never look back. After a year with a bright kitchen instead of having to turn on the light all the time...HIGHLY RECOMMEND SOLAR TUBES!

We just purchased a Lantana - our lanai faces west - just curious as to the size and placement you chose for the solar tubes. Thanks! Lark

We do not have our design meeting until the spring. I was just asking Shalomuall about the one that they installed in their kitchen. We will be building a Begonia and are thinking of putting some in our house.
I am getting so excited reading about all the fun everyone is having building their houses it is getting harder and harder to wait until spring!
Time seems to be dragging up here with the wet, cold, gray, days. :cold:

jimbo2012 10-15-2012 05:26 PM

When we rented a few weeks ago there were two in that home, but remember you can't shut 'em off!!

But they are nice.

How much are they charging for these?

lake5798 10-15-2012 05:31 PM

I sent you a pm

lake5798 10-15-2012 05:32 PM

I know we are leaving Lewiston next week for TV winter retreat

lake5798 10-15-2012 05:33 PM

You can put an optional dimmer on to diffuse the light

I have recently used led lights and they are working well

Solar Tubes

Last Thursday, we had three solar tubes installed in our Lantana model - a 14'' in the kitchen area, a 14" between the dining and living area, and a 10" in the guest bath aka "the cave". Frankily, I had rather high expectations and my expectations were exceeded. The installation, by the Solar Guys, was professional and efficient. You will be amazed! Lark

Do you feel led lights are a good alternative to solar lights?

Cedwards38 10-30-2012 06:14 AM

I'm intrigued by these solar tubes. Is there a showroom somewhere where one can observe them firsthand? Thanks.

I had a solar tube installed in my laundry room in another home I owned in Ocala and it was there for 5 years when we moved. It was great for a room with no windows, you would have thought a light was on! The Solar Guys on 441 did the work and were wonderful, we also had two solar fans installed by them for the attic and they worked great too, never an issue with any of it.
Just be advised about where you put them. When there is a full moon you will have light coming thru them in the middle of the night as well :-) so I would avoid bedrooms.

We too have a new Iris in Sanibell and are thinking about solar tubes. Have you noticed any additional heat in the room or has it been to cool? We are in Colorado but will be visiting next week. Also, any cost info will be helpful.
Thank you in advance

Isn't there a company that does it cheaper than Solar Guys? They were trying to charge me $730 just for one!!

Was the $730 for a standard one or one with additional options? Which diameter?

Bill :)

2 Oldcrabs 12-31-2012 06:27 AM

Buy at Home Depot

14" solar tube at Home Depot cost $299 with the tax. It comes with about 40inches of "tube". You may need to buy 2 extensions to reach the roof line at a cost of $44 with the tax. The Sumter permit is $65. Falling off the roof- is priceless.

They said it was that much because I am in a manufactured home. I didn't see the reasoning for an increase in price of $200.

solar tube

We had the solar tube installed in our home in Wisconsin about 3 years ago and are very happy with it, solar fan as well. When we were in the villages, we looked at solar tubes and fan. After looking at the Solar guys product, we also looked at the Marion County Fair. We are going to go with the guy at Marion County Fair because it looks to me to be a better product for the same money.

Someone who had solar guys do your tubes can you PM with what a tube is cost wise? We were thinking about one in the formal dining area off the kitchen in our wisteria. Curious as to what they run without getting into it with the company just yet.

TheSolarGuys 01-02-2013 03:48 PM

Thanks to our past customers for recommending us. We try to keep our pricing very simple and can give you a accurate quote right over the phone. We have been in thousands of villages homes and every model. Of course we have our local showroom on 441 1 mile south of the Market of Marion. There you can see different sized units installed in different sized rooms with all the different options and fixture styles. You can also see us this weekend at The Villages Craft Festival (Spanish Springs) on January 5th & 6th.

Well after dragging our feet, we finally had our solar tubes installed by Solar Guys in our Iris. The results are amazing! We had two 14" lights installed with upgraded fixtures for $1300. We installed one in the kitchen and one between the living and dinning area...wow! what a difference. Hope this helps.

Can you turn them off if you don't want the bright light shining into the house?

Solar Tubes in an Avalon model?

Just wondering if anyone has added a solar tube in the premier Avalon model? We are building one in Pinellas and just curious. Visited The Solar Guys store last month to view attic fans and the solar tubes. They also do the reflective coverings on windows. We may need that on west facing bedroom windows. Any recommendations on that? We are excited about our August move to TV! This site has answered so many of our questions and we are excited to meet all in our new neighborhood....and beyond!:a040:
