Top 5 musical groups
What musical groups do you consider as the top five you have ever heard (not necessarily in person). Mine are - The Eagles (THE best ever), The Moody Blues, Fleetwood Mac, Chicago, and Led Zeppelin.
|
Considering how are taste change as we grow, I will give the names of groups when they were at their prime. It do not necessarily mean I'd listen to them as much as I did then.
The Beatles Four SEasons Doors, Eagles Billy Joel- Is he a group? |
This is soooooooooooooooo hard - only 5?
The Beatles, The Eagles, The Beach Boys, The Four Seasons, The Rolling Stones. Sorry - had to add. (Cream, Zep, Chicago, Blood Sweat & Tears, Drifters, Platters, The Crests, Skyliners). So many more. |

The Beatles are the greatest, by any measure, of any act in popular music history. Everyone else is a distant second.

I guess my favorite after the Beatles is Eric Clapton. I don't think I've ever heard any one play and sing with so much emotion and sincerity except for perhaps BB King who would probably be next on my list. It's really difficult for me to pick out a few bands and say that they are the greatest or best or my favorites because I like so many of them. I guess that I feel that after the Beatles and maybe Clapton they are all tied for third. |
1. The Beatles
2. The Eagles 3. Rolling Stone 4.B.B. King 5.The KingstonTrio __________________ |
5 favorite bands
I'm one of those who have to answer in 2 ways. Depends on what music I happen to be into at the time. Before I started to play rock music, I played quite a bit of folk, so that's what my lists would look like. I'm also just listing bands, because if we included solo acts, the list would be much longer. So here we go:
Rock: 1. Beatles 2. Beach Boys 3. Eagles 4. Blood Sweat and Tears 5. Crosby Stills and Nash (and Young) Folk: 1. Peter Paul and Mary 2. Brothers Four 3. Kingston Trio 4. New Christy Minstrels 5. Limelighters |
Seen Bette Midler, Eric Clapton and band, Styx, Yes, BB King, Billy Joel with then (1984) girlfriend Christie Brinkley in concert. She just walked around Joel a little bit when he sang Uptown Girl.
BB King and Eric Clapton were extremely good and would make my Top 5 musical groups. The Police, the Rolling Stones, and Chicago would probably be my list. Too many groups really to narrow this down very easily. |

Everybody knows who John, Paul, George and Ringo are but most people don't know the band members of other groups. Don't forget The Lovin' Spoonful selling out also. How can there even be a Lovin' Spoonful without John Sebastian? |
The Eagles, Byrds, The Beatles, The Doors, Jethro Tull

Another person that often gets overlooked in these discussions is Stevie Wonder. His body of work is absolutely incredible.

That's one of the things that contributed to the greatness of the Beatles. They had close to equal fame. People had their favorites. That was not the case with any other groups that I can think of. Quick name the other Four Seasons. |
Without looking it up Mike Smith, Dave Clarke, Lenny Davidson. Ric Huxley Denny Payton. Aside from the Stones, with Brian Jones, Mick Taylor, I don't know of the band members the other you spoke of except for the lead singers and maybe a full others. I read the "Happy Paper" advertisements and I could see how many people missed the Felix ad.
The Four Season without looking it up- Frankie Vali, Bob Guadio, Nick Massi and Tommy DeVito. Guadio by the way was a great songwriter and his talents were never appreciated. |

Felix! Come back. Give the Village People a second chance. Let me do the advertising and I guarentee a full house. |
Dino was an outstanding drummer. He cut his teeth by moving to NYC when he was a teenager and sleeping in clubs just to watch the greatest drummers in the world like Elvin Jones and Tony Williams. I would say that at the time, he was a lot more knowledgeable than most rock drummers.
