get copies of all your building plans

Did you know that all your building plans can be downloaded from the building dept online?

Go here

use "begins with" and the first part of your street address.

scroll down to attachments, print

njbchbum 12-10-2012 09:40 AM

just sumter county.................

upinmaine 12-10-2012 09:51 AM

Very useful and interesting. If you use "Begins with" be sure to start with the actual street address number not simply the street name.
Thanks for posting this.

Just to left of "begins with" you must click on drop down menu to get "address".
Also this site has problems with these browsers:
IE9
Chrome
Also just put in street numbers and first part of street name. Do not put whole name or city and state.

pakirk 12-10-2012 03:35 PM

I can't find the attachments. What am I missing??

Lark7 12-10-2012 03:42 PM

Gosh, thanks! The link provides a lot of great info.

Leave it to Jimbo, he can get anything! Interesting to see how they will hang
the drywall on the walls that go to the outside. They attach 1x2s to the block 16" on center. By the way if you visit each other you will have to pass by my house. I think I'm about halfway in between... Finally got some pics of the house via my sales rep. Blocks outlining the perimeter were almost done. Guess the slab goes in next.

When you click on that download at the bottom of the page you are simply downloading Firefox browser, which you don't want to do unless your browser will not work.

After you get your search results showing the permit number and your address; double click on that bar of info. You should next see a window of info come up below that. Here is what your windows should look like in order.

Curious. Does not work with Safari or Firefox on Mac - no attachments show up.

jimbo2012 12-10-2012 07:16 PM

Sounds like Mac issue

Twinspin60 12-10-2012 07:41 PM

Thanx--very easy to navigate and my husband loved the idea of having all this info--thanx for sharing it--now I've got to make some copies to keep!

jimbo2012 12-10-2012 07:45 PM

that will cost you a Corona, fair enough?

skyguy79 12-10-2012 08:19 PM

I too had trouble finding attachments at first. I tried IE, Chrome and FireFox with the same results. THEN... noticing I had four permits listed and permits, I found 2 & 4 had the attachments. The original building permit for the house had no attachments and the 2nd & 4th had them. Those permits were tied into the building of the pool and birdcage as well as one for the solar heat and they included the original drawings where the new additions were added to.

I then checked out a neighbor that had no additional add-ons or permits since the original build. I found that his didn't have any attachments. Seems like there are no attachments on the original building permit... at least not that I saw on the two properties I checked. Could this explain why others cannot find the attachments they're expecting?

jimbo2012 12-10-2012 08:46 PM

they R not online for older homes I believe

I read that too. First it said it was good for IE 6-9, then lower it said is wasn't good for 9. I have 9 and I had no problems that I know of.

buzzy 12-10-2012 08:59 PM

works fine in Firefox 17.0.1

Thanks, Jimbo

Except for when there are newer permits issued like in my case. Being their were no attachments on our original permit and with the home being completed in the fall of 2007, they must have started sometime after late '07.

KEVIN & JOSIE 12-10-2012 10:44 PM

Had to thank you twice in the same day for this info. I appreciate the folks who are so wise to locate this stuff.

Rather than download them all, do you know if you can you go to the planning department and request a copy?

Either way, thats another Corona i owe you.

jimbo2012 12-11-2012 07:46 AM

travelguy 12-11-2012 12:42 PM

Lpierleo 12-12-2012 12:42 AM

:bigbow:Jimbo, O Wise One. Thanks for the info. Looked it up on IPad, but will try my PC tomorrow to print.
