Do you have trouble keeping TOTV names straight?

There are SO many similar names on here. For instance we have Villages Pl who is a guy and Villages Fl who is a girl and four trillion golf this and golfer that and a billion Villages something or other. Then there are the jumbled letters and not mind sticker names like jdbfan or stl425.

I kind of remember who is who if they have a picture or an avatar but lots of times I will think...is that who said this a couple of weeks ago? I thought this was a girl but maybe it is a guy?

Am I the only one who gets confused?

Bill-n-Brillo 12-28-2012 07:55 AM

Yes.

I will look at a string of their posts if I cannot remember if this is that guy from MA or that woman from San Francisco.

lanabanana73 12-28-2012 08:01 AM

I think everyone should be required to have a photo avatar!! (Well, maybe of themselves, not their dog ;))

renrod 12-28-2012 08:02 AM

It's a good thing

Digging back into your vault is a good way to keep your mind going.

2BNTV 12-28-2012 09:09 AM

I think it's normal to be confused with 346 friends that you have.

Some people I am in contact on a frequent basis and that seems to help. Some have unusual handles that help.

Ecuadog 12-28-2012 09:14 AM

Then, to add to the confusion, you have jerks like me that like to change their avatars.

Skip2MySue 12-28-2012 11:12 AM

I thunked and I thunked

Gracie, I'm gonna work on a catchy handle so it will help you remember who I am. Now let me think.........:undecided:

I believe the names are unique and in fact have to be becaue TOTV cannot add a memeber unless they have uniques username

Can we get a "do-over"? When I first came on this site I didn't realize how many "Villages" names there would be. If I could change my name, I might decide to be "Healthy Guy" or Nutrition Man. I don't think you would forget that, would you?

Graciegirl, you've been on this board so many years I think you have outgrown your name. You should be Graciewoman.

Yes, it can get confusing sometimes but I try not to worry about it. So what if I don't remember someone; I don't think it's that big of a deal. It usually means that they don't post very often. The ones I remember are the full time professional posters. They probably work for The Villages Realty.

It has just come to my attention that some may have hundreds of "friends". In that case, it could be a problem remembering everyone. One thing I wonder: How would you know how many of them are still living? Eventually, people die and you would have no way of knowing. Then part of your list would become a memorial. :o

2BNTV 12-29-2012 03:50 PM

Some people have been given the designation of "Eternal Member" when the moderator has been informed of there passing like "Steve from New York"

Nutrition man.

I am not a full time PROFESSIONAL poster and I don't work for anybody.

I am a happy person and I am defensive of all things Villages because this is the most wonderful place I have ever lived, except I miss the rest of our family sometimes.

If you really really really knew me you wouldn't think I worked for Village Realty. But I sometime wish I could just meet Gary Morse and shake his hand.

I dislike very much people who come on and start rumors directed against the developer. I dislike people who come on and start rumors directed against anybody. I dislike people who come on and start rumors.

And if you don't mind, I will continue being Graciegirl. That is what my grandmother called me when I was very young and I feel that happy now.

I have kinda spoken. Or ranted. Or something.:pepper2:Please forgive me if you weren't talking about me.

asianthree 12-29-2012 07:01 PM

You go Gracie girl...... And not posting a pic. I don't allow them taken of me it's my right not to want to scare people or take away part of my sole

eweissenbach 12-29-2012 07:40 PM

Up until now I have chosen to keep my identity cleverly hidden. I will now reveal that my real name is Ed Weissenbach but my full name is obviously too lengthy to be my handle.

Gracie:

You go girl, It's funny, when my aunts and uncles wasn't to distinguish between talking to adults and children, they added "boy" to the name. Hence,
Tony boy, Jimmy boy, Genie boy etc. Originality wasn't there strong suit.

I am happy to hear that you feel young enough to be called a girl and everyone knows you are nice. I sometime wonder how you keep track of everybody as your house must see a tremendous amount of visitors.

Hugs

Joe

Yeah, that's the ticket. Everyone but you and me, that is! I don't know about you, but I don't photograph so well. My happy-face pup agreed to be a stand-in and only charged me a week's worth of extra treats.

GracieGirl

Confusion is sometimes good as it adds to the mystery....nothing wrong with that as long as someone does not get carried away with the thought. I still remember the kind, sweet, innocent, ..... PM you sent me a number of years ago, (im on TOTV longer than you) until you realized you should not be so presumtious as to who people are based simply on their TOTV name. Have you not learned????

And then you met my better half, and lo and behold you show up on the doorstep....... we all had a great laugh...and realization of how careful we all must be.

I, as well as most contributors on this board, always enjoy your comments and hopefully we all must remember that our comments should not be pointed towards the "person" but only address the issue at hand.......then who the person is or isnt doesnt really matter.

Regards

Caroline784

Someone I respect mightily pointed out that I took offense to your post and I shouldn't have.

I am sorry Villages Pl.

I get so hurt when someone says I work for the developer. And you were teasing me about being Graciewoman. I am so sorry I was nasty. I have no excuse.

Happy New Year to you Villages Pl. I am going to take a few of your good suggestions about nutrition for me and my family starting the New Year.

Most sincere apologies.

Gracie.

I know you weren't addressing me, but before anyone gets any bright ideas, I do want to make it very clear that I absolutely will not in any way shape or form have a sex change operation in order to change my name to SkyGirl!

What I find confusing: I think some married couples are posting under the same name and sometimes the same picture. If they are posting separately, under different names, they are free to do so, of course, but I think it's a little spooky if we don't know about it. Which is worse? I'm not sure.
