Willie Nelson & Family Show

I saw the ad in newspaper for 1 night show at Savannah center. $175 PP for residents. Thought it must be a misprint, but it's posted on Villages Entertainment Schedule. Are they kidding, $350.00 per couple to sit in the Savannah Center? You wont see me there.

It's a shame that the tickets are such a high price. I would love to see Willy and Family. Saw them years ago at an open air event and I can remember smelling the loco weed in the air. (this was in the 70's). He has so many good songs.

We saw Willy at Silver Springs in Ocala a few years ago. A great afternoon show, beautiful outside venue, and very reasonable.

cahweh1975 01-13-2013 12:39 PM

We saw Willie a few years ago. Good, but not worth $175 each, IMHO! Wow! That's pricey!

Gerald 01-13-2013 12:47 PM

When the price is silly high. Simple do not buy. I will not buy at that price.

My feeling exactly. We would have gone but not at that price. Wonder how well the tickets are selling and who is buying them?

Looking at the seat selection chart on the Box Office web site, it appears as 75% of the tickets are sold.

raynan 01-13-2013 01:56 PM

We won't be going at that price either. I guess because Savannah is not a huge venue the price per seat has to be higher to get him. Just sayin.
Nancy

jnieman 01-13-2013 03:12 PM

If they sell out Willie they will probably have the high prices with other well known entertainers. This may be the start of things to come.

jblum315 01-13-2013 03:43 PM

Willie probably still owes Uncle Sam a bunch of dollars

perrjojo 01-13-2013 03:53 PM

I checked Willie's tour schedule and at Semonole Hard Rock they start at 78 and go to 798. His ticket prices are high but about average for big name entertainers.

Floridagal 01-13-2013 03:56 PM

I agree, that if they are selling tickets at this price it is just the beginning, If people would not pay these high prices the prices will have to come down. The Savannah Center to me does not warrant these high prices.

From Wikipedia.............
"In 1991, Nelson released The IRS Tapes: Who'll Buy My Memories?; by 1993, the profits of the double album, destined to the IRS, and the auction of Nelson's assets cleared his debt."

And the talent level will come down as well.

buzzy 01-13-2013 05:07 PM

I'm waiting for the Rolling Stones practice night at the Sea Breeze center

Skip 01-13-2013 05:30 PM

Willie will be doing the same show in Jacksonville and the tickets are only $64 per person.
$175 here is a rip off, Barbara.

Skip

That is the price for "the nose bleed seats". Front row is $688. The front row at Savanah is $175.00. All of the rest are 125.00

Mikeod 01-13-2013 07:30 PM

Folks. People have commented that they would like to have some name entertainers perform here besides the aging stars of our youth. The agents for these entertainers aren't obligated to provide a Villages discount. So, the contract price divided by the number of seats at the Savannah Center plus a profit for the booking people gives a per person cost.

No one is getting ripped off. If you've got 8000 seats you can charge less than if you have 1000 seats. If, as stated above, 75% of the seats are sold at those prices, it seems there are plenty in our community who feel it 's worth it to see Willie here vs. driving to Seminole or Jacksonville.

I really doubt this signals anything more than the possibility of more name acts coming here from time to time, rather than the end of the $20 ticket.

Nicely stated, my sentiments exactly. :agree:

Once again the voice of reason. Well said.

175 to see Willie....:1rotfl:

Saw an Italian tenor at church in square for $2...and the guy could really sing!!

Serenoa 01-13-2013 09:49 PM

If we were current TV residents we'd pay $125 ea to see Willie at a venue like Savannah in a heartbeat. It would be well worth paying a little extra to not have to drive a long distance & endure the big city traffic, not have to pay $10 or so just to park and then walk half a mile just to get to our seats, and not have to take binoculars to find the stage & performers.

When on our LSV last month we went to a show at Savannah & had a wonderful evening. We can't wait to become permanent TVers & have the opportunity to enjoy all the great entertainment options made available to you lucky folks.

Those who enjoy Willie and believe he is worth the asking price of his tickets should go and have a great time. More power to Willie and his fans. If you don't think he is worth the price, I hope you have a great night also doing what you enjoy, Me? I kinda thought Willie was an aging star of our youth,

I agree. Doubt if the Villages management is going to try to force people to pay outrageous prices for lesser acts. That's very poor public relations and the Developers have been masterful at advertising and selling their vision. I am not saying you should not kick the car's tires but they are not trying to make a Volkswagen into a Cadillac.

This made me laugh...you are so correct but Willie seems to be a star for all ages...my teenage Grand children even love him. I guess the call this a Legend.

The 1% of course:a040:

queenv 01-14-2013 03:41 PM

Are you kidding me??? $175 pp??? I was thinking about finding someone to go with, but forget it!

l2ridehd 01-14-2013 03:51 PM

It's because of the venue. Invite him to play on your lanai and invite a couple friends and it will be $5000 a ticket. Put him in the polo field so there can be 10,000 tickets and the price will come way down. He gets a base price plus a % of the ticket sales. He does not work for free just like none of us did.

Went to the Miami Patriots game in early December and the tickets were a lot more then this. If I was there I would be buying tickets. For that venue it's a great price.

Shimpy 01-14-2013 04:34 PM

I guess were used to entertainers "pretending" to be someone famous. Seems everytime I read the entertainment schedule and think I'd like to see that one, reading further it turns out to be a "wanna be" or as they advertise "a tribute to". He's the real thing but I wouldn't pay that much.

duffysmom 01-14-2013 05:29 PM

Willie probably has no idea where he is. Willie is a serious dope addict and he will not see any of my money, that's for sure. His appeal to the younger generation is sad IMHO.

Monkei 01-14-2013 06:12 PM

I would rather skip Willie and go see Phil Dirt and the Doziers ... Same venue. Save 150 per ticket.

Taltarzac725 01-14-2013 07:20 PM

Saw BB King for the price of two cokes in a Reno casino around 1982. The room was maybe 30 x 30 ft. Two drink minimum was all you paid for the show. What a deal when compared with Willie Nelson and family. Do really like the Willie Nelson of a few years ago. Not sure how good he will be now.

chuckinca 01-14-2013 07:28 PM

I'd pay $175 to see Ricky Nelson!

Definitely would be worth $175 to see Ricky Nelson today if he knew where he had been and could talk about it.

zonerboy 01-15-2013 10:11 AM

Willie

Used to be a fan of Willie Nelson and his songs, especially his cowboy ones. But that was back in the day.
Nowadays his voice is hoarse (from smoking too much weed, no doubt) and he can't carry a tune.
$175. No way!!!
