Goldendoodle Question

As you may have seen in our earlier posts, Ronnie and I have a goldendoodle named "Portia" and we were wondering if anyone else who lives in TV has one and if so how your goldendoodle does living there? We arrive on Sunday the 20th for our second visit...however Portia will be at home with her nanny....

Thanks...

Jimmmy

There is the most beautiful Golden Doodle that goes to the Mulberry Dog Park! Her name is Glitter and she is amazing......a really, really striking dog. You might just check out that dog park on your visit. Glitter often shows up between 5 and 6pm. Good luck!

Ah, the most famous golden doodle of all is Teddy who owns TOTV member F161UB. Teddy hangs out at the Bonita Dr dog park and rides shotgun in his Dad's blue Club Car golf cart. You can't miss him sitting up so tall. teddy is one cool pooch.... A puppy in a horse's body.

my neighbors have "peaches and cream" about 8 months old, the male ate aloof of bread and a. brillo pad.

We also have a Goldendoodle. On occassion we will take him to the Mulberry Dog Park, althought we live in the south end of The Villages. We live much closer to the Bonita Dog Park but not real keen on that one due to its size and is very dirty. Mulberry is mostly grass. For exercise my husband will either run him slowly next to the golf cart or on his bike. We also purchase a 4 seater golf cart with a flip down seat in the rear for his comfort.
There are a lot of Goldendoodles in TV's. We should start a Goldendoodle Club.
Anyone interested should send me a PM.

You guys should post photos of your Golden Doodles.

Awe yes...I remember Teddy! What a handsome fella! I used to really enjoy the posts about his "shenanigans." Teddy got blamed for everything! LOL

There are at least 15 goldendoodles that are members of the private dog park (Doggie Doo Run Run) on the outskirts of The Villages. Including T-Bow, one of the stars. It's pretty amazing when most of them turn out at the same time.

DDRR is an awesome dog park for big dogs, at least ten acres for the dogs to run and play and socialize.

I miss Teddy, but more than that I miss Teddy's exploits. What a dog.

Have you seen Charles the Monarch (unofficial mascot at Old Dominion U in Norfolk, VA)! He is a lovable energetic golden doodle that is clipped like a lion.
Made the news last week in Norfolk. You can check him out on utube.

I have a question about Goldendoodles. My wife and I are interested in a smallish dog. Are there different sizes of Goldendoodles?

I used to have a Soft Coated Wheaton Terrier who was about 40 pounds and we'd like something just a bit smaller than that, but not real small.

Is this your puppy ;)

Hi Jimmy
We have a beautiful Goldendoodle girlie. Her name is Rosie and when in The Villages, she resides in Calumet Grove. Rosie is over 6 now, but as doods do, she acts like a happy puppy most of the time. She is non-shedding and hypo-allergenic, and about 70 pounds.
We go to the Springdale (Mulberry) dog park many mornings and to the Doggy "Church" up near home, most afternoons. This huge field is part of the grounds of the Baptist chuch at the end of Clearview, which they kindly let the doggies come to romp at. Lots of friends and even some other doodles. There is also an unofficial doggy play area behind the pool at Rio Grande, near Spanish Springs.
Rosie's pictures won't seem to load here, but can be seen on FB on our Horseshoe Lane page. She also has her own page at Rosie O'Doodle.
It would be great to have a doodle club, and I have long been thinking of an actual Doodle Co-op, for reciprocal doggy-sitting. No one knows a dood like a dood family!
The only thing better than being in The Villages, is having a Doodle to love.

duffysmom 01-14-2013 09:59 AM

My guess is that a goldendoodle would not be hypoallergenic, is that correct.

I think it depends on how much is poodle, and how much is golden. Same with labradoodles. I've seen doodles that shed a lot, and other with more poodle in them that don't shed at all. I love doodles, and there are rescue organizations that have these dogs available!

My friend's son has a miniature goldendoodle. Don't ask me how, but the parents are somehow a golden and a miniature poodle. He is supposed to get to be 30 lbs tops. Has all the properties of a larger goldendoodle except the size.

Portia 01-23-2013 08:24 AM

golden doodle size
Portia was suppose to be a medium size..lol.. and she wound up being 64 pounds of pure love and enjoyment

a lot of the doodles I've seen might be medium size in weight, but they seem to be taller than the goldens, so therefore look bigger. Our guy (golden) is 85 lbs. he's not fat--just very long--but not tall like the poodle part of the doodle. The doodles I've seen are all "bigger" than he is.

Cool dogs. It would be fun to watch a pack of them in a dog park.

They are breeding doodles smaller and smaller for the niche market. I've seen a lot of Australian doodles at the Square that are quite small, around 30 lbs. Yesterday I saw a cute red doodle that was golden/poodle/irish setter. I love doodles. But it's hard to believe mixed breeds used to be mutts, and now they're designer dogs.
