Great.....our Sanctuary doesn't have an adoption fee for our beautiful doggies either. The only payment is lots of love.....

Bless you Deb, for all that you do. Is the doggie store Petsmart? Perhaps if you describe the dogs, someone will make a special trip to see them. Good luck!

Pray for the animals

Hi Deb,
Please tell me what's going on Saturday near Target. Animals, location, time, fees, etc. Where do your animals looking for a forever home come from?
Thanks, Janet

There will be adoption day at Petco! I know that 2 dogs from the Sanctuary I volunteer at will be there.....the gal in charge of the adoptions for the Sanctuary will be there, I believe from like 10:30 - 1:30 or so. Fees are not charged for our dogs - our dogs come from various situations and we have absolutely lovely critters. I can PM you the contact name of the person who is our coordinator for more info. Thank you!

Janet & Carl 01-17-2013 06:08 AM

May I have the name of the Sanctuary and the coordinator?
Thanks, Janet

Debfrommaine 01-17-2013 06:33 AM

Yes, thank you for the inquiry - the Sanctuary is a wonderful place. We actually have some doggies who are now "Villagers", lucky them!! Contact Margaret at 631-455-6802.

The majority of dogs that I meet at Doggie Doo Run Run have been adopted from shelters. It's a wonderful thing, to hear of an abandoned pet that has found a forever home. :0000000000luvmyhors

Debfrommaine 01-17-2013 06:52 PM

Our's too........best thing that ever happened to us. ;)

Cisco Kid 01-17-2013 08:42 PM

My little rescue

This is my Lulu.
A designer dog. Puppy mill breed. Morkie Maltese & Yorkshire.
Her prior owner was sending her back to the breeder because she could not be potty trained. ( she is now )
A year later she could not be a better little girl and has big sis. They play all day.
Her last issue is separation anxiety. Understandable.
They just gave up on her.

Cisco Kid 01-17-2013 09:11 PM

Here is Lulu's sis Chloe
She was returned 3 times to the shelter
Thank god for stupid people
She is my walking buddy

Wow, gorgeous doggies and full of such potential with the right owner - they were so meant to be in your home! :bigbow:

Our LolliPop had at least three homes before us. She is seventy pounds of humor and love. She would get adopted for being cute and she'd be returned because she was clumsy or needed a lot of exercise. She is extraordinary, unique personality, interesting, funny, smart, Very affectionate, and she klacks her teeth when she is happy. Loudly and often. She is kind to her little 10 lb brother. We both adore her.

Barefoot, great to meet you and your furbabies at Doo Run yesterday, so sweet....

It was great to finally meet you in person, Deb. I hope you have some successful adoptions at Petco on Sat! It's a wonderful thing that Villagers have a lot of compassion in their hearts for abandoned animals.

If I read this correctly, it was mentioned your sanctuary does not charge a fee. How does your sanctuary or rescue raise money to pay for surgeries or medical conditions your dogs might require? Thank you for helping find homes for homeless animals.

And thanks to all the many people on here that have adopted a rescue.

The Sanctuary has fundraisers of various sorts and does get some personal donations that go towards the many expenses of running the sanctuary (the dogs are spayed or neutered). And we have a very understanding vet from what I understand; I am not involved with the bookkeeping end but do value your question. Thank you for your good wishes, let's hope for an adoption tomorrow!
